Had a lazy evening and back to do the LR list tomorrow after work. Hope the big freeze isn't too bad ontop of all this snow lying on the road and pavments.

Looks like you lot further south than me have snow just the same on the news as it was here today, don't go out unless you really have to because it left the roads extremely difficult to travel on. Be careful out there!

That's ok! sorry if being over sensitive but we are thoroughly fed up with this happening! We are now well lagged but still it happened! For the heating to pack in just when you really need it working....well! We got advice from the plumber who fitted and maintains it about what to do. The pipe is in a very open position and yes it does get very very cold! As the boiler is in the airing cupboard, the outside venting pipe can only be accessed via a ladder - impossible for me to do as I have some mobility problems. How do the elderly get on? There has to be a better way! You do seem to have some knowledge yourself of these boilers - any ideas? Would be too painful (financially) to replace the boiler! I am guessing that quite a few others are in the same position then!
New boilers are all condensing nowadays, so replacing it won't solve the problem. It might be worth a question on the gas & elec board. It might be as simple as angling the condensate pipe away from the wind, or putting some kind of shelter round it.

Finally got solid fuel burning properly. Stove is chucking out lots of heat... If I have a late night and early morning it might keep going all night! Must find some energy tomorrow as I've got so much to do!

School closed vibes please I so don't want to even try tomorrow after the stress of today. I don't even care that my car is at work (virtually anyway) and I am not. Buses are off it's cold and dark and dangerous out there.

~~school closed vibes for you ~~

The day before christmas eve I had to walk 2 miles home in the snow when my car got stuck and I had to leave it where it was....! The walk home in heavy snow wasnt too bad - it was really heavy but soft huge flakes and not horrible and wet and it wasnt windy so it was ok.

Ive registered for an internet dating site, but to date I have nothing good to report..... Hope you have better luck than me x

I'll try to get my new camera working tomorrow and send you a picture of my car in the drive... mind you, if I were the snow, I'd avoid Swindon too ;):p:p

rach - fitbug is great so far, but I think lots of people got them for Christmas/New Year, and today was the first delivery day, so the site is very, very slow! I guess we'll see whether it works over the next few months. Can I interest you in a 20 mile walk from Winchester to Salisbury in aid of Naomi House Hospice on 6th June?

Off to supervise the stove a bit more...

Soappie/PenPen - spooky I think DS1 is the off spring of Soappie and your DH penpen  He is obsessed by weather, wants a job in weather, is thinking of being a strategic planner for gritting. Barclays charity account was a nightmare for me. Standard Life used to do an online account with half decent interest (not sure if they still do). A bank where you are a customer is a help

Thanks Dusty - and I send my uber-geek weather hellos to your DS!

You weather watchers - we have consultants coming down from Nottingham and Birmingham tomorrow....need to let them know by 8am if they're not to come...what do you think? still nothing here!

    I would recommend you reschedule!

    AnW's - thankyou love xxx
Helenj - I am crossing things for DH and hope he feels better soon
Hugs Greenbee - hope your headache lifts

Rach - I know the posh place you mean ;) It was in the news a little while ago - the HSBC there... ;) Probably beyond our league!

It seems, looking at the latest weather charts that we're not going to get the snow just yet - it's missed me by about 30 miles. It seems Frodders and LL on the same portion (nation wide as it were) of south coast will get loads but I won't. However, DD did get back from the gym this evening and said what was wet has now turned to ice so that will be our danger - black ice..

But I'm off to bed, prepared to walk into work in the morning if I need to.

    Night night all xx
