Table for kitchen ordered. Just need to be brave and do the other online shopping. Somehow it always takes me ages. I feel it should be a quick way of shopping!

You probably know this anyway but go for good quality trousers - the cheap ones just make you sweaty! Mine are lowe alpine ones which I bought on a very rainly holiday in Ireland!!

And you also probably know this but I swear by Bridgedale socks...

    Morning all

I've polished in the living room, and the computer desk, and vacuumed right through downstairs. One load of washing hanging round indoors. About to put the oven on to roast a chicken.

It's trying to snow but only tiny weeny little flakes, I want to clear the front path later because it's beginning to ice down but it's a bit early yet for a Sunday. The back path has stayed nice and clear though.

It turns out that I don't need log & kindling baskets, as one of the wicker magazine racks (I have 4!) will take the kindling, and I have a couple of water hyacinth storage baskets that aren't really being used which will fit a day or so's worth of logs. So that's some money saved - I just need to sort out a coal bucket, as the wooden wine box I keep it in at the moment is far too big for the room.

Forgot to put my pedometer on when I got up  and I've done quite a bit of up and down stairs so far today . I think I'd better have a shower and walk to the shop for a paper and a few bits and pieces (assuming that the siege mentality hasn't emptied the shop again ).

    Morning lovelies!

It's melting! :j Got up this morning and all that's left is the stuff we had at xmas, which is slushy if still very slippy, on the roads at least, going out to play today was in all day yesterday and it makes me twitch.

Just loaded the DW and S&S'd the kitchen, beef is out to defrost for the tea, need to make beds and get ready.

I liked the 5 things a week list, so I'm up for that whenever you feel the need to do it :T

I still need to take that photo for you!

No worries Rach, you can stand down. I forgot to tell you I took it myself when I went to my sister's hen night. I forced DDto tramp over Hungerford bridge when we got out of Waterloo and snapped the man myself.

Totally off topic, but then maybe not as he did clean up the London sewers! Here he is:

Oh, and Dusty, I just wasted half an hour watching the birds in the garden. I actually had a pair of redwings and a mistle thrush visit. Never seen them in my garden before! I've now put out a dish of water for them.

Any tips gratefully received! I like Bridgedale socks too, and definitely need some thicker ones. I also need to think about thinner base layers - and decent jackets, as my midweight jacket is OK (but getting old... needs a wash and re-proof) but I don't have a lightweight one and am currently using an ancient (and very ugly!) ski jacket. Otherwise I just have a very, very elderly barbour.

I'm about to order sheepskin-lined walking boots :D and need to get some lightweight ones too (I like the look of the brasher Lithium GTX).

As you can see, I'll be spending quite a bit of money - I tend to do this. Not buy anything for ages, then do all the shopping one go! (I really, really want another pair of sheepskin boots, but need to lose weight and get some decent jeans first).

ETA - sheepskin-lined walking boots now ordered!

Better go and brave the outdoors now...

Not sur if anyone still her but A QUESTION TO TEaCHERS(OR ANYONE IN THE KNOW), someone(sorry, can't remember!) was talking about the schools and their records due to schools closing and their attendance records.....anyway, what I want to know, as a parent, when we get the end of year reports, are these snow days taken as absent or do they reduce the no. of school days ???
    TIA xx

AFAIK if the school is not open the days are not counted as school days so not on absence list. I am not sure of the protocol if the school is open but you can't get their due to bad weather - secondary printout has heaps of options so I'll take a look at one later.

Soappie that is a great way to spend time:D Not sure I've ever seen a mistle thrust - off to the RSPB website to see.

Greenbee - great change of use of items. Our woodstore is bare so DH needs to chop some wood (which is covered in snow) and restock it and hope it dries out soon.

    Today:
    clean bathroom
    have a shower
    waitrose shop (using £10 voucher)
drop boys at cinema, return item to TKMaxx
DH to do collection and cricket run
    ironing tonight
    finish bedroom
