What jobs do people specifically want on the list next week?

you know those bits you look at week after week and think.. hmm.. I can pretend that's not on this weeks list so I'll leave it being an eye sore!?? My entire house is like that.. but come on.. tell me about your messy corners! I am bored of writing the same tasks week in week out.. I want something new!

And.. no you aren't having the week or even a day off
For me it would be something off of the following please!
    - sorting of photographs (whether actual photos or online storage thereof)
    - Xmas thankyous if not already done
    - sorting of boxes of carp/artwork in chldrens rooms
    - ebaying stuff

I need to make a dent in all of these
    cheers mdear :D

LL - DS says thank you for the birthday wishes. He's having a fab time. His best presents are the four packets of jaffa cakes (in the sale as they are in a box with a Christmas theme) and a lego game for the PC. He's VERY happy. His bike is in the living room but I don't think it will be going anywhere soon!
Hope DS had a fab day Mudders, bless him and his jaffa cakes, love it!

lil_me recipe sounds lush, you've inspired me to make some over next few days. Do you freeze the portions of just have for same meal on the trot for a few days IYSWIM

carol - hugs, hope you are ok

Jojo continued hgs after yesterdays appointment, thinking of you honey

has carlsberg been around lately - how is your DD doing ?

and hugs to everyone with poorly pets and injured or ill parents or other family members.

I too liked the MACAWs so I am going to just add my own for the foreseeable:
MACAW: get into bed before midnight
Clearly I have failed on this again tonight. Must try harder

A couple of people mentioned heating, piggers perhaps as a list item every so often (monthly ?) we could have phone utilities with meter readings to help us keep on top of direct debits covering payments. Not sure if this falls under bracket of running the house or money management though so ignire me if appropriate.
I for one need to phone up as we have sed so much gas over the last month no way or payments will be up to date come the next 6 monthly bill.

    goodnight/morning xo

    xmas-smiley-010.gifMorning lovely flyladies,

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

Rose - what are you struggling with with the accounts - PM me and I'll see if I can be any help.

No more snow here as yet although we're supposed to be having loads!

Still loads to do so I'll see how much I manage to get done today.

    Have a good day all

    Hugs

    Morning all

I've been awake for hours! Think I woke up about 4.30 or 5am and just couldn't sleep,,,so I got up at 6 and did some of the kitchen jobs - kitchen drawer and under sink cupboard, plus some handwashing. I thought of another job though piggers - go through kitchen utensil holders/drawers and get rid of anything past its usefulness.....realised my holder is too full and I might need to move things around a bit  Bought some nice new silicone utensils yesterday so can bin some.

Roast last night was divine :D but I think the wine I had may have been part of the sleep problem.

AnW's mum - you may be right about the car and we did plan to get rid of it but couldn't sell it so decided to just keep it til it dies/needs real money spent on it! Because we go on holiday in this country we need it for that, and although we could hire we tend to extend a week's holiday by going on thursday and coming back sun which would mean 2 weeks of hire probably 3 times a year which is actually expensive (round here anywhere!). Insurance is around £300 a year, tax I pay 6 monthly as we never know if we'll still have the car and since I moved here I've only had 2 half price MOTs, both of which it passed! Car is almost 10 years old and a horrid colour so no one wants it!!! If our circumstances change and money is tight we might get rid of it, but at the moment it's fine! Ideologically I'd really like to be carless though, and in a way feel like I am as never use it for day to day life!

I've had a lovely day - walked through the snow (up hill through hip-high drifts) to the pub, had lunch (chicken salad) and walked back (the wind had been blowing and all traces of our footprints had been obliterated!). My brother and SIL had to leave to get back and see friends, but the other friends stayed for tea (chocolate panettone... marginally better than cake!). So I've had lots of exercise and good company.

I do, however, need to buy some more outdoor stuff. Longer thermal vests; more layers; thicker socks; another pair of walking boots (my ones with ankle supports are dead); gaiters; waterproof gloves and a hat with earflaps! Of course, if I do it will probably never be cold again, but right now it seems like a good idea... not sure whether to go for it online or see whether I can get into town first and check out the outdoor places and then fill the gaps online.

Sounds great, presume you got waterproof trousers then?! Personally outdoor gear is one of the only things I actually go into the shop for! I did get a couple of berghause tech tops for Christmas which I put on my amazon list but otherwise i tend to go to blacks. Partly I actually quite like those shops I think!!

Re adding financial/debt tasks to the Flylady list, sorry Piggers, Greenbee and Toots I'm not sure about that. That, surely, is what the "debt free wannabe" type threads are for? I think I would hate finance to become a regular topic or task here.

After all, the original OS way was no debt - or at the worst hire purchase for the odd major expense like a sofa - or the wedding ring down the pawn brokers until the next payday. Ebay can be included because that's part of decluttering the excess stuff from the house in the most lucrative way...and perhaps a celebratory message from someone if they've decluttered a credit card to zero.

In many ways, in my view, this is an escapist thread. It allows us to concentrate on our homes and making them nice for ourselves and our families, if we have any, regardless of any financial miseries we may or may not have. I personally would like to keep it that way.

I'm with soappie and others. The odd reminder like tax credits is great, but DH deals with all our finances, bills etc (apart from grocery challenge which I do for fun!), he's always completely on top of it (I know I'm lucky!!).
    pigpen wrote: »
I do think it is important to brag about debt decluttering here.. such as Jills credit card and my overdraft.. for the acknowledgement of the hard work that goes into it and the huge achievement that it is... the same as we boast about our childrens achievements. I don't think this is the place for debt busting either really. agree- good to hear when people have got rid of debt!!

    So..
    1. is an ebay/flinging challenge in order? No stars will be awarded for any of this to minimise Toots work. Obviously it will also be optional and in addition to the main list.Don't think I need to do this but more than happy if it helps others!
    2. Tops of appliances etc I would expect to be included in decluttering worksurfaces.. how can you properly wipe over an appliance if it is half buried in junk? i do usually do them!
    3. Lightbulb wiping.. hmm.. could be added..that will be DH's job as I'm too short...:rotfl:
    4. Tidying of linen/airing/under stair cupboards is usually added every couple of weeks so if you stick around it will get done!
    5. Washing up.. that is a daily job and should be included there I think? But I can add it is necessary. It could be a MACAW?? I think it is daily, I often do it as part of a HHC though DH washes up every eve when he gets in from work and again after dinner.
    6. I liked the challenge of choosing 5 things ourselves which were individual to us and doing those as the weekly challenge, I thought everyone made fabulous and valuable progress in areas of their home they had neglected which didn't regularly come up.. decorating, conservatories, small DIY tasks were all in there.. would this be a suitable challenge over the coming weeks? really like this idea, but no more work for toots please - think we should do our own personal rewards for this!
    .

Right, I'm freezing (don't want to put the heating on yet as DH still asleep) and I am going to have another cuppa and watch the rest of last week's casualty (i have the tissues ready!)

Oh and sexy - I should be up for the meet, just need to check dates. I have a friend in portsmouth who it would be good to see too. I have a feeling though that DH goes away with work on the sunday which might be a problem, but I'll check!
