Hi Folks, I have just come across the thread, and wondered if any of you fit posters would be able to advise or answer a couple of questions.:D
Some of you mentioned that you have done 100 or 150 or even more sit ups per day  does that not strain your stomach, or do you start small and build up?. I have started small with situps and have gradually build up to the number i am doing. Sometimes I do some at different parts of the day.
Do you see the difference quicker the more sit-ups do you in one sitting if you know what I mean? I do not think this matters.
What is the best way to do sit-ups so that your aiming for the actual belly and not the midriff so much ?.
I do a variety of situps which target the upper, lower and side muscles.
Also, if your inside thighs are bit loose and flabby, what is the best excercise to firm them up, and would the flab tighten up, or would you still have the flabby bits still a bit flabby. I do a variety of cardio in the week plus the toning to help firm up my body. squats are good for thighs.
Any hints or tips would be a great help.
Hope that helps.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -
Target not made by sunday
had such a busy weekend hardly had time to even fit in breathing. Had a set back on the fitness part as well thanks to injuring my ankle on Fri coming home from work so have to take a rest week!
But all this rest from cardio means I am just going to concentrate on ab work this week so hopefully by the end of this week I am hoping to have smashed the 4500 mark at the very least!0 -

Some of you mentioned that you have done 100 or 150 or even more sit ups per day  does that not strain your stomach, or do you start small and build up?. Nope, but you need to start on a number that just pushes you where you feel you can do no more for the day, this amount is different for everyone.
Do you see the difference quicker the more sit-ups do you in one sitting if you know what I mean? Not neccesarily sure what you mean but the more you can do in one sitting shows progression in strengthening of the core.
What is the best way to do sit-ups so that your aiming for the actual belly and not the midriff so much ?. The positioning of your legs matter when doing crunches, having the legs lower and stretched out compared to heels up near your butt works different parts of your abs. Adding a curl taking your elbow to the middle upon raising also works different parts.
Also, if your inside thighs are bit loose and flabby, what is the best excercise to firm them up, and would the flab tighten up, or would you still have the flabby bits still a bit flabby. You need to be doing adductor exercises really for your inner thighs. Such as lying on your side and raising your leg up and down or even stand up and take the leg out to the side and back (Holding the wall for balance)
Any hints or tips would be a great help.
Hope this helps0 -

I'll try and explain better.....
Say for example I was doing 120 sit-ups a day, and I broke them down into 3 sessions, so I would do 40 am, 40 lunchtime, 40 evening.
Or would I get a better result, or would the results show quicker (stomach getting flatter quicker) if I did the 120 in one go?0 -
You would be best doing them in one session, in say 3 sets of 40 reps for example with short rest periods between each set. Puts more demand on the muscles having shorter rest periods. So splitting them over the day you are obviously getting big gaps of rest in for the muscles between each set.0

Target by end of next Sunday (7th Feb) is to reach 3100 squats/lunges and 3000 situps.
Have had a mad week at work and have had to do lots of work at home which has made my exercise suffer. I probably wont meet the sit up target but will try to hit the squats target.MFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -
Have not managed to reach either target only managed 2840/50000 squats/lunges &2340/50000 situps
