I'm sitting here with my post-baby and post-Christmas tummy bulging over my trousers and have resolved to do 50 000 situps by the end of the year. Does anyone want to join me, or set their own situp goal, or just cheer me on? (Or tell me I'm out of my mind and should eat another biscuit?)

I'm going to keep a daily tally of situps done and, if this thread takes off, post a weekly update of situps completed and how many are left to do. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in :)

So, as of today, 7th February:
1) Sugarspun - 2745/50000 situps
2) aless02
3) Neonic - 10/50000 situps
4) Toothsmith - 50/50000 situps
5) katiejones
6) jackomaj
7) piratefairy - 600/30000 situps
8) tara747 - 1280/30000 squats
9) Lyndach
10) daisy1973 - 588/20000 situps
11) theduchesshavoc - situps 295/20000 squats 645/20000 push ups 295/20000
12) skaps - 2340/50000 situps and 2840/50000 squats and lunges
13) cake21 - 3280/50000 situps
14) glamazon - 0/20000 situps

Also you would need to loose the excess weight if you feel you have any otherwise you'll just be trying to tone whats there and it either wont work or you'll still have a belly but a firmer one depending on where your starting from:)

The average would be 138.1 per day or 962 per week, but I was planning on starting smaller and working up :)

I have 7kg to lose and am a member of the Baby Weight Shifting Club as well, so I'll be shrinking and toning during the year.

Good for you, best of luck:) I bet you land up doing more than that each day, they are quite addictive especially when you see a result.

Shifting the weight too will definately help.Doing them whilst listening to music or having the tv on will help pass the time:o.

I'm in. I'm currently doing slimming world. I have lost 1 and a half stone already and will be starting training for a 10k run and half marathon this week. I think doing the sit ups will help tone my stomach.

I've never really done anything like this before so hopefully I will stick to it. I have just done 10 so thats a start at least. 10 down 49990 to go

Well done Neonic :) 10's a good round number to start, and congratulations on your weight loss!

I'm on 40 for the day, only 49 960 to go.

    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Do you have a sit up machine (one of the little roller things) or are you just doing them? The machines make you use the correct muscles where as a lot of people just doing them use the wrong muscle groups which will not help tone you.

If you don't have one it is worth trying on freecycle as it is something that I have often seen on ours (or put a wanted on there)

    Good luck with it.
