Loo Roll the really cheap tiny rolls are a false economy imo, they are just horrible, I do buy Nicky when I get the chance to go to Farmfoods and considering they are only £1 lovely and soft theres no need for those tiny scratchy rolls.
Bread, can't stand shops own, not that keen on pre-packed at the best of times and I'm looking into getting a bread maker.
My oldest will only drink Coca Cola, which he buys himself.
Bang on the money there about the loo rolls. Supermarkets tend to stock a crappy value version simply so they can charge so much for the decent stuff. Farmfoods, however, don't - so the Nicky brand ends up working out at similar to the supermarket value stuff, yet far better quality. Local asian supermarkets tend to do the cheapest stuff, as in £3ish for about 36 rolls of value quality paper. None of it seems as bad as you get in schools and stingy workplaces though!
Funnily enough I also share your thoughts on bread (even the premium stuff bagged can't beat fresh for anything except toast) and your sons on Coca Cola - I won't even touch pepsi, virgin, red bull cola etc.0 -
I do love Ho Ho Ho Green Giant sweetcorn
personally don't think you get the same crunch with others...

I'm going to have to give these Nicky toilet rolls a trial, I've read so many good comments in the last day or so on here!0 -
Ariel gel for washing - I'd like to come down and use a cheaper but I'm lucky that I just buy it and someone else does the washing so I suppose it's worth it
Stock up when cheap also - refuse to pay the usual £8 for it! (It's £4 for the big litre ones in Sainsburys atm)
Warburtons or Hovis bread, always. Others don't taste quite right. I do make my own too, but like the other for toast and stuff as the little slices don't quite seem enough.
Toiletries - I'm not partial to any particular brand, except for Herbal Essences for the mother as she appears allergic to other sorts - but they must be a name of some sort. I tend to buy what's cheapest or on offer at the time for all.
Pasta sauces - dolmio. That's usually because when we get them they're 2 for £3. Must look at making my own/trying others.
Pretty much anything else can be what's on offer or sainsburys basics.0 -
Things I won't compromise on:
1. Meat/chicken/fish - live on my own so can afford to buy in Marks and Spencer
2. Eggs/milk - always buy only British
3. Heinz baked beans
4. Diet Coke - own brands have an odd taste
5. Bread - again M&S, usually granary or multi-seeded
6. Ready meals - M&S only
7 Catfood - Eric will only eat Gourmet/Whiskas/Felix. Luckily I can often find BOGOFs, 3 for 2 etc
Where I economise:
1. Sainsbury's own brand biological laundry powder
2, Own brand household cleaners - bleach, polish, disinfectant, "windolene" etc
3. frozen veg - never had a problem with own brands
4. tea and coffee - own brands, just need to find one I like through trial and error

I know this is slightly offtopic-but i was bemused to read an article in red magazine today headed "gadgets you can't do without in your kitchen"-the author said one of the articles was a cherry stoner/olive stoner...eh..? I must be on a different planet!just had to share:rolleyes:
anyhoo...cheap bread-can't stand the gooey stuff and dislike cheap tomato sauce,oh and cornflakes like someone else said.0 -

Yeah do! ....the Nicky toilet rolls are really great, their kitchen towels aren't up to much, but the toilet rolls are lovely and soft and 3ply too!!Turn £100 into £10,000 in 2010 member # 247
£5059.07/10,000 :j 31/12/10 = 50%
Target for 2011, 100% of £11,0000 -

My ds has very sensitive skin (i can't even use johnsons in the bath as he literally blisters all over if i do-same with their wipes) and this works a treat.
We won't compromise on ketchup-has to be heinz, mayo-hellmans orginial only and headache tablets-nurofen seem to work the best for us (tho if someone knows of a good one cheaper i will give it a go.) I am sure nthey are more-oh the kids love petit filous yoghurt so tend to stock up when they are on offer, any others and they are really not bothered about the so i just don't get them.
My partner is really fussy about painkillers but he tried the Sainsbury's 200mg Ibuprofen caplets 16 in a box (under 50p a box) and he says they work as well as nurofen. He needed something when on a night out and that was all he could get. Try them!....It's nice to be nice.....:D
