Good quality meat and fish not from the supermarkets. we use Aerial washing products and fairy liquid for dishes I buy good quality real coffee beans and Kenco instant, PG tea, Kellogs cereals. I do like cheap beans, prefer the 20p tins to heinz etc...

I too won't compromise on meat. Like someone else said here I tend to buy big pieces and separate them and freeze them. Got lovely chicken pieces on Saturday and will do about six meals with them.

I also won't compromise on toilet roll, fabric softenor, rolls and bread or pizza.

Everything else, I'll give a try.

    Good thread ...

  • Good quality meat, usually from local butchers, fairy washing up liquid, fairy soap powder, lurpak butter. Anything else, I'll give it a go!

  • Heinz baked beans- I try to buy them when they're on offer though!

washing powder - fairy non-bio for little one, and ariel for us (although l am open to advice on these because l'd like to cut down but haven't found anything as good for cleaning as those two - however l do mix powder and soda crystals 50/50 to make money go further with them ;) )

    xx

I used to use fairy non bio for me, dh, ds and dd but got a free sample of filette non bio (i think thats how you spell it-can't check as i transfer it to a container when i buy it) in my bounty pack when i had dd....i was converted-it smells lovely, washes great and is only £1.99 for 2.5kg in home bargains. My ds has very sensitive skin (i can't even use johnsons in the bath as he literally blisters all over if i do-same with their wipes) and this works a treat.

We won't compromise on ketchup-has to be heinz, mayo-hellmans orginial only and headache tablets-nurofen seem to work the best for us (tho if someone knows of a good one cheaper i will give it a go.) I am sure nthey are more-oh the kids love petit filous yoghurt so tend to stock up when they are on offer, any others and they are really not bothered about the so i just don't get them.

Butcher next 2 my mum's is great only use that was costing me £5 or something per lb o mince, but down there i can get 1lb mince, 1lb stewing steak, 1lb sausages and a joint of pork or £6. And for £12 4 beef olives, a free range chicken, 1lc beef, 1lb mince, 4 mince pies, 1 med steak pie, 1lb sausages. So basically get all that for £18 it's great quality OH won't eat supermarket bought now anyone get better? Oh and thats their deals but taken from their fresh counter.

3 Heinzs - tomato ketchup, tomato soup and baked beanz;)

Used to be a teabag snob but have discovered Sainsbury's Basic teabags, 28p for 80, are just fine so I save a fortune on that! (Am Northern Irish so drink a LOT of tea):p
  • i've always bought one brand cheaper than the named brands and decanted into the branded bottles such as heinz ketchup and salad cream and to be honest it all tasts the same for me also if you notice the bottled sauces are cheaper than the plastic squeazable versions.

Cheap loo rolls as i cannot justify buying expensive ones and throwing them down the toilet, cheaper washing powder, washing up liquid, shampoo, fabric conditioner (however will stock up on comfort when on offer) own branded soap, asda smart price custard cream biscuits we love em and taste exactly the same, tea, asda paracetamol, i've gone to aldi to compare prices as saved an absolute load by buying there.
  • marigold bouillon powder...other stock just doesn't taste right to me.

cheese....would rather buy mature cheddar and pay more for it as I dont like the mild at all

bread...it doesn't have to be the absolute best bread in the world, just as long as its not that cheap white stuff...I like my bread to be brown with seeds in. :D
