Beer, if it doesn't have a picture of the Tyne Bridge on the label, it won't have genuine Brown Ale inside.

Can't afford to be fussy except ...........

    Toilet Rolls
    - Usually buy a good brand that is on offer i.e. b.o.g.o.f
Kitchen Towel - Use good brands on offer
Coffee / Tea / Hot Choc = Tend to wait for offers to come up
Bread - can't stand cheap bread!!!
    Some Toiletries such as toothpaste.
I avoid Basic brands of any meat products and any other products that have any more obvious salt n sugar n fat than regulars
  • Although I'm really happy to make household savings in all departments, food is one area where we don't scrimp at all. All of us work long shifts and a) don't have the time to visit all the lower priced food retailers and b) justify the expense by saving everywhere else.
On most of the basic foodstuffs I've tried you can taste the difference!

Aren't they moving where they brew it? Moving down to Tadcaster to the John Smith brewery. :(

I can not see it been the same, beer never is when they move where it is brewed.

I generally will use own brands when available except for when it is an item I will be using a lot, such as tools and the quality is discernable.
I don't eat meat so don't have that issue of cheap meat, but I do eat fish and can tell that Bird's Eye may taste a bit better than supermarket own brand, but usually not by enough for me to apy the differerence, apart from when an offer is on.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)
