Hamish isn't a troll. He has strong opinions and posts lots and lots of articles. I suspect you call him a troll because you don't agree with a lot of what he says and this is the easiest way for you to engage with him.
Oh yes, he is. He never misses an opportunity to post provocative nonesense. Engaging with such people merely encourages them.

You can buy 1 bed flats on my street for about £180k.

    2 beds for £230k+

    3 beds about £275k.

    Terraced houses nearby about £400k.

The City is 45 mins away where the average salary is £78k.

    From Wikipedia:
Troll: In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

If there is anyone who posts pretty much always on topic on here, it's Hamish. I would agree that some of his posts are provacative, but I think that's a really good thing on a discussion forum as it provokes debate.

Again, I think your issue is that you don't agree with him on a lot of points (I don't agree with him a lot of the time either). But that doesn't make him a troll.

    Thanks.

SO you live in the London area then?

Do you know, offhand, what the cheapest one bed flats in acceptable (not the nicest, but not the worst) areas are?

Just looked and was surprised there are some on for £75k but you really, really wouldn't want to live there...

About £90-100k sems to be an average price for not-so-great-but-ok place.

But theres very few of them around (old style flats). They're all 'luxury apartments' ;), and are therefore worth £250k

ETA: Also, is it just me being thick, or can you not remove SO & retirement properties from a RM search?

They can be had for £100k in some areas, but you wouldn't want to live there.

Most FTBs round here would pay around £220-£250k for a 2 bed flat I would presume. I was an FTB and paid double that but not on a normal FTB income.

FTB property where I am, ie 1 bed flats have recently sold for £115K-130K (Bucks)

Then a gap to wealthier properties, ie 2/3 bed semi's for £220K upwards

    Retirement flats selling well

I've an ex LA large 3 bed on somewhere in between and not managed to sell it but am hoping to shift it this year.

So I reckon, bottom end selling with help from family or BTL's (& stamp duty, now all pretty much SSTC)) and upper end 250K- 450K probably upsizing)

    I don't know! -- I do know that but don't know what'll happen next!!

Anyone who gets up at 5 o'clock in the morning merely to post inflammatory nonsense from the Daily Express/Mail is a troll in my book.

And given that is far from being the only discussion forum that has banned Hamish McTroll it seems I am not alone in this opinion.
