First day of rest of my life

Hi,
Haven't been on for a bit. Think I should have been hiding my head in shame as went out twice at weekend and we spent about £100. Feel quite guilty HOWEVER this was a rare occasion when family got together - happens once every few years, we had a fabulous time so it was money well spent.:beer:
i've been having a good think about money-saving. My child care costs will stop hopefully in July so that's another £280 per month I can pay towards debts. At the moment I feel very motivated and happy to do this, but I realise that I do have a really stressful job and do need to have a bit of fun now and again so won't make any promises yet!
Dh did overtime weekend before last so can use that!
I made about £20 on ebay after charity donation and I've got £10 due on TopCashBack so can use that as well. Now, just need to make sure that I use it pay a debt and don't just let it sit in the bank.;)
I have been reading the tips on other diaries. I like the idea of taking the cash out and using it as needed so the temptation of overspending on the card is taken away. Can't see dh going for that but we'll see!I've been considering the daily clicks but already spend soo much time on computer, don't get to see the family as it is! (not sure if that is good or bad thing!:))

Hi Cialilerin
Hope you are keeping ok.
Glad you enjoyed your weekend - we all deserve some enjoyment in the journey to be debt free so don't fret too much about it. As long as you know it's a treat and not a regular spend you will quickly get back to clearing those debts.
I am finding that having taken the grocery budget out of the bank and putting it straight in my purse it is working brilliantly - for us:) We haven't touched the bank account, ie we haven't used the debit card and I know exactly where I am with the monthly budget.
Having said that I no longer have children at home who are always saying 'mum - I just need £2 for this thing we are doing at school....etc'
I know when my children were at school there is no way money could have stayed in my purse as per my budget planning. I am not saying my children were forever just taking money from me, but the demands of school and clubs seemed never-ending. Back in those days I was probably better off not having money in my purse to be honest.:beer: So I can understand if this system wouldn't work for anyone with children of school age.
I can't do the daily clicks either...cannot get my head around what it is all about. I am just about managing to keep up with bingo britain (I buy the tickets in advance and don't log on again until the end of the day to make sure I am not tempted to deposit any of my own money - don't think I would be, but just in case.....;))NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

Hi, Well feel less motivated today. I have had a bit of a bad week with my depression and am struggling a bit. As I said before, in the past I would have shopped to cheer myself up, but I have resisted the temptation (and stayed miserable
)
Anyway, I'm waiting for some payments to go into bank - child tax and dh army pension that comes every 3 months, so can't make any overpayments until they arrive.
I have just checked and realised that even without these payment and with the money I spent last weekend - we still have enough money to last until payday without using the credit card. :T This makes such a change for us.
Was going to explore the world of free scratchies today but haven't got the motivation.Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -

Hey, it's brilliant that you will have enough money 'til pay day. As you say this is something unusual for you so I think it should be celebrated with a nice cuppa and a pat on the back!:A
Over payments are in sight so that is really positive. I know its really difficult to keep going when it feels like an uphill marathon, difficult to keep your chin up, but I reckon sorting out your relationship with money will, in the end, help you out of depression.
Keep posting!

Hi Cialilerin :hello::hello::hello::hello:
Cheer up;) You are bound to have days where you are less motivated - and well done on resisting the dreaded shopping temptation (gold star smiley needed but I couldn't find one so have this one instead:A)
I have suffered with depression for my whole life and I think if I was going through this DFW challenge with my children still at school and needing this, that and the other I would have far more 'down' days. That said, I wish I had known about this place then and at least I could have tried. I admire you so much for going at this with such determination, and think your family are wonderful in the support they are giving you. Go on girl....PAs order.....SMILE:D You are a good person, you are a fantastic mum, you are a super wife.....the world will be yours in the not too distant future. It may seem years away to your DF date.....but do you know what - it will whizz by. We took a Northern Rock loan out in 2004 for 7 years and I cannot believe that we are in the final 12 payments on that loan. Where did the years go:huh::huh: Your journey to DFW will go just as quickly - sometimes it may not seem like it - but when you get to the end you will look back and think the same as me...where did the time go.
Excellent news on getting to pay day without resorting to the dreaded CC....that's the same for us this month and makes me wonder what I used to do so badly before. We used to make it to payday, but sometimes it was just that little bit of a stretch too far if you know what I mean;) But isn't it a great, positive feeling to know you have done this, you have sorted your life and finances out and you are the one who is making the future bright and shiny for your whole family;)
Keep thinking those positive thoughts Cialilerin - you don't deserve to feel so down because you really are a star.NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

Hi C (hope it's alright to call you c)
I've just caught up with your diary. I have to say what an inspiration you are. I have two young dd's and that's hard enough.
Depression is an awful thing - I really feel for you. However hats off to you not giving in to spending loads while you are suffering:beer: It sounds like you've had a tough time. Your motivation and positivity will spur you on to yoru debt free journey.
I keep a cash box in the house. I calculate what extras I will need for the week. ~Eg both dd's dancing, swimming, rainbows, brownies, school disco, dds haircuts etc etc. I take the money out to the exact pound in change, this saves me taking out say £10 from the cashpoint when i only need say £6.00. On saying that I didn't budget for the 3 fallen out teeth in the last couple of weeks. Tooth fairy - £3 :rotfl:
You go girl !!! xxThe past is over & done & cannot be changed. This is the only moment we can experience - Louise Hay"You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection."-- Buddha0 -
Thanks to all for your kind words, I will write properly soon. Just checking in quick before I go to work. Car's been playing up and drinking petrol. Cost £130 to fix!! Hadn't budgeted for that so going to have to rethink some figures! Anyway feeling a lot better in last couple of days - will be back later to fill you all in.
Thanks againProud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
Thanks to everyone for all the support to date:T
Well, as I said previously my car cost £130 top fix on Tuesdayand dh's car cost £146 today
Then put the washing on and the machine is broken:eek: Anyone with kids will realise what a disaster this is. The good thing is that my tablets are kicking in so I haven't cried over it YET
I am still determined not to let it get me down too much - as I said befor, part of our income is a pension that comes every 3 months, well I think this will cover the garage costs, so while I have to put it on cc for now, I can ooay it off in 10 days. I had hoped to use this money to make a dent in my debts but at least I'm not adding to them.
Last week was my bday and dh didn't let me down - he just bought a couple of cheap (and nasty:rotfl:) things and then said it was because I was saving money! Hoping he'll make up for it tomorrow - he's been warned, so don't mind him spending a bit - even got babysitter for night;)
We've both got week off for half term so I'm hoping that I may be able to explore free scratchies and the competitions thread!Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120
