OK, gave up with waiting for dh to do car insurance and did it myself - in front of him. (btw, used topcashback so at some point should get £45 from them:)) Anyway I left yet another note yesterday reminding him to cancel the old insurance and ring the new insurers to see if there is any discount if we insure a second car with them - I couldn't do this as I don't get home until after 7. He didn't do it and then said it was because he didn't know I'd already bought the first insurance
I paid for the insurance on my cc and felt a bit guilty BUT I am fairly confidant that I will be able to make overpayments to pay this off in 2 months which makes it cheaper than paying monthly by dd. Already made an overpayment of £40 thanks to ebay!:j
Have decided that ebay is still a good source of income but having trouble persuading dh to part with some of his stuff - we have boxes of CDs we never listen to - have been in the garage since we moved to this house 5 years ago. We have a box of records and no record player! Is he right and they might come in useful one day?We also have a bit of camping stuff to get rid of (how many tents do one family need??) but waiting for the weather to pick up - will probably list it around Easter time.

Just did the pension age calculator on the email and can't retire until I'm 67 - so depressed now (but at least I should be debt free by then!):DProud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120

Pension calculator tells me I can retire at 66 - stuff that...what do they know....I am aiming for 60 or less:rotfl:
We will be debt free in 28 months....by which time I will be 51. We can then aim to be mortgage free by the time I am 54. That gives me 6 years of saving instead of clearing debts and I intend to try and retire at 60.......gotta be worth a go;)NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000

I did the pension calculator at work yesterday and depressed everyone there too!;)
Seriously though, like PA I would like to retire early especially as dh is a bit older than me and retires in just under 10 years - no way am I watching him sitting back while I keep slogging for another17 years:). On bright side - having him at home will be cheaper than hiring a cleaner:rotfl: Anyway, got to get 4 kids through college first (and little one is only 2!!) so may end up working till I'm 80!
As I said in previous post, I changed my car insurance for 2 cars and have saved quite a bit, especially as we were paying for breakdown cover and it is actually covered in our HSBC Plus benefits, so we have cancelled this now. However, we have paid for both on my cc so my challenge now is to pay that off by end of next month - no idea how yet but may involve prising the beloved CD collection (that has been untouched for at least 5 years;)) out of dh's hands. I asked him about it last night and he said he doesn't have chance to listen to them now because of the children, so is keeping them for when they leave home and he has the chance - our youngest is 2!!!!!!!! Suggested selling now and downloading them in the future - working on him. Shame I can't sell him - mind you don't think he's worth much!:rotfl:Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
My DH before LBM bought a vault and is putting all our cd's onto that this weekend. Its a gadget that we can all access from our pc's thought it was a waste of money which I suppose it was but as we have it now so might as well make the most of it.
How about joining our ebay challenge this weekend ?MARCH 2016 DEBT £25750/ £25035

Ok, just sorted out 8 items to ebay - but dh has hinted he may sort out some stuff tomorrow. Going to list them tomorrow afternoon for 7 days (can then spend it on mothers day when he takes me out!
)
Realised today that I haven't been shopping (other than weekly grocery shop) since I started this challenge! Used to go to local shopping centre at the weekend and spend, spend, spend. Would take the kids and buy them sweets, maybe a McD's, comics, bits and bobs etc, etc... Now dh goes on his own to buy dog food and if we need extra, he takes a list - we're getting sooo sensible!!Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
Hi Cialilerin
You are doing so well.
Sensible is good....you can never be too sensible when it comes to debt busting and money saving:rotfl:
I'm pleased your DH is slowly coming round to sorting out stuff for ebay. I'm still not convinced my DH has had a LBM yet.....the flickering of a light is definitely there but I think it's still on dimmer switch and he is definitely using one of thos low energy bulbs because he never emits much light:rotfl: Still on the positive side he does accept my moneysaving bullying with fairly good grace:)
Take care and keep up the excellent work to clear your debts.

Managed to list 16 things on ebay - had aimed for 20 but that's another story!
Did my weekly grocery shop today. Normally aim for £80, which leaves £20 for bread, milk and forgotten bits in the week. Today, I managed £65:jProud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
Well my ebay items are doing ok. Got a few bids and lots of watchers and another 2 days to go!
Good news this week - my car went a bit wonky again, but after initial panic, the garage said it was covered by guarantee as it was same problem as a few weeks ago:j All fixed and running lovely.
Bank account is looking as good as it can be, First time in years that I can see payday approaching and I'm not thinking of transferring money from another account into my one or using credit card to see me through - I'm not paying off my debts as quickly as I'd like but I am living within my means and still having a fairly nice life! :TProud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
