Just made a few adjustments to my SOA!, so could change my signature:T

I know it's early days, and it was only a couple of hundred but it was start, most of my payments and direct debits come out at end of month, so still to come. My windows payments, northern rock loan and sofa payment, I don't get statements for, so can't just check it on internet, but will check in with them every couple of months so can see it disappearing gradually.
This month has been weird as I started money saving half way through my financial month when money had already been wasted. However, I'm happy with results so far, I get paid on Monday and I have absolutely nothing in bank, BUT I didn't spend anything on my credit card this month whereas normally would have spent couple of hundred and so would dh. (I actually haven't given him his new credit card which was delivered in - I hid it;)- little extreme but VERY effective!)

Anyway, today I went to BOOTS and picked up more sale stuff which I paid for with Boots points. I intend to sell these on for profit. Will sell to family(for very minimal profit 10p etc) and put some on ebay! There's not a lot of stuff but every penny counts!

I also saw the GP today and he said my blood is low in B12 but I don't have anaemia!?! I have no idea what this means and he was no help. Just said I need to be retested. He said it's normally associated with not eating enough meat or dairy products but I eat quite a healthy diet, if anything too much meat! Anyway, just another worry, but not one I can do anything about at moment so not priority!!

    Hi

We're friends now - so feel free to call me PA:rotfl:

Northern Rock send out loan statements - we just got ours :j Well done on the 'couple of hundred' btw

I love Boots points - although am very low on points at the moment at just over £8.00 (gave them to DS before Christmas to buy stuff for the new baby:) and as you know I have resisted sale shopping totally!

Hope your blood sorts itself out soon.

  • Thanks for the support everyone. :T

So today is the day to catch up on everything at home but I'm so tired, all I want to do is sit on the sofa and rest! However, I have done all the ironing that has mounted up this week while I worked late. While doing this, I have put in 3 loads of washing. The one thing I can't do is give up my tumble dryer. I have tried and I don't use it when there is any little bit of heat outside - even on wet summer days, I hang it in conservatory! Anyway, with six of us in house (5 of whom are girls ;)) we get through so much washing/ironing and if there is one thing I hate doing -it's ironing!! Keep saying if I was rich, I'd pay someone to do my ironing, so am now trying to put a positive spin on it and thinking of the money I'm saving by doing it myself :rotfl:

I have sent off for an energy monitor from British Gas, but I got letter today saying they've had a lot of demand so it will be another month until it's delivered. I have been inspired by planning_ahead to save money by using this but once again, I have to try and persuade dh that we can save money while saving the planet!! He thinks he's being thoughtful by boiling (nearly full) kettle before going to work so it won't take so long to boil when I get up 15 mins later, but with my new dfw head on, I just get cross that we're using too much electric. He can't win ;)

Anyway, the biggest money saving tip for this weekend involves not going out! so no temptation. Going to spend some time later reading through other threads to try and get some more inspiration.

Kids have just asked what's for dinner - I was so busy this week I only planned 6 dinners:(, BUT checked cupboards and have ingredients for pancakes - well it is Saturday (wonder if I can persuade 12 year old to make them;))

Hello, I didn't want to read and run. Regards to the ironing will one of the older girls do it? Are you doing the scratchies everyday, I won £500 on them a couple of months ago and it all adds up. I cook for 6 everyday and its such a pain as I need to make loads before I can freeze anything. Try sneaking in extra ingredients to bulk meals out ie, lentils, bulghur wheat in spag bol etc. Hope this helps .

  • Just talked to the kids about all the support I'm getting on my diary and dh said "what diary?" Not sure whether to laugh or cry. Want to rant about it but he's promised to read it now - so don't want to put him off ;), but joint bank account, we made the debts together so need to pay the debts together!
