  • Morning,
Well I have this morning off to get my hair cut but have a terrible headache so I may have to stretch to taking full day off - told the boss that I wasn't sure if I'd be in today so that's ok - I have hours owing to me so don't need to take annual leave or anything. As previously said, I think dh is planning something for weekend, so I may go and get my nails done this afternoon - I can't really justify the cost, but it will make me feel better! :o

We had a big decision to make this week - we found out that the pub we used to manage was looking for a new manager again. We talked about dh applying (left before so I could train for new career). The pub has 4 bedrms, so would save us moving house - we seem to be bursting at the seams in this one, ;) also financially we would be better off as obviously they cover all the bills and you don't pay rent. I know someone who would rent my house so that would contribute to mortgage, so in theory I could pay off our debts much quicker. BUT it does mean that your life is not your own. No weekends off, no Christmas, New Year, bank holidays off. Someone else living in your home while you are on holiday. Is it a place to bring up children? Also at the moment the pub needs a massive clean - it is disgusting and they have a dodgy clientele, so we know it would take at least a year to get rid of the trouble makers.
Anyway, I told dh that it has to be his decision as he would be the one on the front line as I would keep my job. He has to let them know by tonight - at the moment it's more no than yes, but I just keep on thinking of the money! :(

  • Hi C, tough decision. We grew up in the tourism industry and turned out fine :D
I actually think it gave us a broader view of life but you and Dh need to decide what's right for your family.
How is his health just now? It's a tough life but the money is good but would he be okay and would you be okay with the hours and demands on him? How easy would it be to change your mind if it was all too much?

Sorry not helping, at the moment the money would tempt me, but - whisper it here - there is more to life....

  • Had my hair cut, then went and bought some nail varnish and some mascara. Dd no1 is going to try and do my nails and it was a whole lot cheaper than having a manicure ;)
Still no decision made! Thought he had decided a firm no earlier, then tells me later that he has spoken to the brewery and is meeting them tomorrow to discuss what their terms are and then he will decide.

At least we would have somewhere to come and celebrate our DFD in months and years to come, think of the increase in profits everytime another becomes DF.
    I'll drink to that

Its good that DH is looking into it before jumping in, well done on the cheap nails im sure they will look just as good

  • Well, we have decided that dh will apply for the job and then leave it in the lap of the Gods (or brewery) They do want a couple in, but I am not prepared to leave my job, so it's a matter of whether they are prepared to accept him on his own, but his name is now in the system.

On a brighter note - I will be 40 on Sunday so I feel that my birthday weekend has officialy started. I have had a lovely pamper night tonight, ready for busy day tomorrow. Going iceskating in morning, then going to see Strictly Come Dancing Live in afternoon with mom, then dh has a surprise lined up for evening. No doubt it will be expensive weekend, but this is the start of the next stage of my life!

ENjoy the last day of your 30's!

Dying to know what SCD was like!

DH's job - hard one to know what to do, but leaving it in lap of the gods is probably what I would do!

  • Hate to say it but Strictly was fantastic. Maybe because I wasn't really looking forward to it - I had no expectations and it was fab. I would actually book to go again next year. It is like the show but on a grander scale. So I now have to eat my words!
Dh then arranged a surprise party for last night, although demon baby announced before we went out that she had made me a party at he pub and her Aunty was the 'cooker' but it's a secret!! :rotfl: Had a great night - didn't drink much so not poorly today ;)
Dh has also booked a weekend away next weekend, in a hotel opposite a massive shopping centre. No kids for a whole weekend :):):):j Think our debt busting is being forgotten this month, but as they say life begins now so plenty of time ....
