  • Morning C,
I'm probably the last person to take advice from :D at the moment but i'd say if the loan will cost you less, and at 7.5% i don't see how it won't, i'd go for it.
The only thing i'd check is if you were to pay it off early what the charge would be. It used to be you got an early repayment discount on the interest, however the last few things i've seen when i applied for a Tesco loan was there was a huge charge for paying it off early.
    Good luck with the decision.

Just been signed off from work for a week - viral sinusitis!! Feeling a little rough again. Think I'm just run down - so going to take it easy and hopefully I may get back to work earlier.

Going to ask DH to apply for loan today! Feel better just knowing that this may happen. I can then concentrate on just trying to pay off the other cc's - about £25k worth !!

    Hope you get better soon:(

Glad you feel better knowing your plan and thats a good rate on the loan. Just remember to get rid of the ccs you clear (im sure you would but ive done it before - got a 0% deal transfered the balance then spent on the old cc )

Pain about the car!! We have just got a Galaxy and its not helped on our overall debt amount but we are better of each mth due to tax, petrol and lower finance payments etc so im glad we did it. Its a really nice car aswell and can fit 5 car seats in for us (old car could only fit the 4). Also they seem to have good reviews and last for miles and miles on the clock!!

We have always hade a galaxy but had a change this time and I hate it. Going back to what I know, we need a people carrier with the 4 kids but unlike you the biggest benefit for us is one in fron, one in back and the 2 in the middle with an adult separating them - the only way to have any peace at times ;)

Off until Monday. Had a funny couple of months so trying to get my head together as well as my sinuses clear ;)
Dh applied for loan last night in joint name and we got turned down on credit check :( He was turned down before for a cc, whereas this is the first time I have been turned down - but there is more debt in my name (but I earn more on paper) Anyway, regardless of who/where/what, it's back to the original plan!!

Hope your starting to feel better. How come the loan was rejected when they offered it to you ? Have you asked them why it was turned down it could be something simple and it will go through.
Anyway as you said 4 months of belt tightening and you should have enough to change the car, after reducing spending so much last year i managed to pick up so many habits which have stayed with me its amazing what you can cut back on if you try.
You can do this set yourself a target each month and go for it, plus there should be lots of free things to do with the kids now the weather is getting a bit better ( she says as its pouring with rain today).
