  • Evening.
Well I had a lovely weekend away BUT then I got a stomach bug so I've been off work for 2 days - back tomorrow. Demon baby had it first and spent Friday throwing up (just to make me feel really guilty for going away ;)) she went back to nursery today, now oldest one feeling rough!!!!!!!!
Decision on pub is still ongoing. Dh has applied for it but te brewery wanted a couple so it's now up to them to see if they want him. Should know end of week or early next week. Fingers crossed!! Feel like I can't make any plans now until we know what we're doing and for a control freak like me that is not good!!
Good news is that my birthday money covered the weekend spends. Bad news is that I am skint and payday is not for another 10 days and half term is Monday. Fortunately we get our 3 monthly payment of £600 next Wednesday so fingers crossed, we may just make it until then, although I realise that I may have to do a little shopping on cc before then! (can pay that off next Wednesday though!)
Btw - belated Valentines wishes to you all. Don't need to save our love for each other for just one day!:)

  • Morning,
Well yesterday we found out that we hadn't got the pub. The brewery went for a couple. Initially I was disappointed but then thought about it and realised that I wanted the pub for all the wrong reasons - it was purely about the money but running a pub is a whole lifestyle change and we left it originally to have family life, so now I have my rational head I think I'm quite relieved we didn't get it. It may take us longer to clear the debts now but at least we'll be happier together.

Anyway, now that this month is nearly over, I need to get back into serious money saving. Had a chat with dh last night and we have agreed to make a serious attempt together. Sadly the kids are not in agreement and brought home a trip letter - 8 days in Croatia on some sort of adventure thing £1,300 EACH!!!!!!! They are desparate to go and with my 2 being quite shy, it will be so good for their confidence but £2,600! Anyway, they have said the school have suggested that parents make a donation and then they will fundraise for the rest, we have agreed to go and find out more but not commit to anything yet.

Payday is on Friday but I have a 3 monthly pyment of £600 due sometime this week. There is nothing in the bank right now and I have about £280 in dd's due to go out. We also have no food in house. Plan is to shop on cc - minimum I can buy to last a few days (maybe £20 as it's half term.) I will then tansfer some money from kids account if the dd's go out before my money goes in and pay them back when I get paid. Also I think we don't have to pay council tax this month so that another £100 better of this month. On Friday I will pay whatever is left from my £600 to a cc. Dh has an MBNA cc and I have no idea how they work it out but the minmum payment just covers the interest - sometimes not even that so the balance never goes down so that's the one I'm going to pay off first.

Have week off for half term and I am exhausted already!

  • Morning C,
I've got a MBNA too and i got a letter the other week saying they are going to change the min payment to be equal to the interest plus 1% of the balance, so although for me it'll be a £90+ increase in min payment it will pay off some of the balance each time and not just the interest. I'd imagine his will be the same? Did he get a letter?

    Morning

Good to hear you are not too disappointed over the pub maybe its something you can look into in a few years time.

Wow thats some cost for the trip, but like you say it would be great if they could go for the experience hope the school can riase enough to make it possible.
Good luck on getting through the week fingers crossed the DD dont come out until payday, have you got flour and eggs in you could do some baking for a cheap thing to do with kids while they are off which would save buying any snacks at shopping.
Dont forget to have a little me time this week to you deserve it.
