  • Hi, On he run down to pay day. All my hopes of having money left for overpayments may have been purely in my head thanks to the joys of dh, however I think we will cover all our dd's this month.

BUT tomorrow I start my ice-skating lessons - costing £60  It is for 6 lessons so not bad - it is normaly £9 anyway, so only £1 extra for lesson. Two of the kids have asked if they can go and offered to pay half, so have to pay £120. It will go on cc but I will pay it off on Tuesday -pay day, best day of the month :)

  • Not aching as much as i thought, thanks!

The ice skating was fab, I can now stand up, move and stop on the ice. Can't say it's very graceful but it's a start and I no longer have to hold onto the side ;) - I have justified the cost as i will be 40 soon and this is my bday present to self - and maybe also a challenge to prove I'm not getting old.

Did weekly shop yesterday. Dd wanted a sewing machine as she read somewhere that everyone should make their own item of clothing at least once in their life; she's quite arty so grandma thought she was being creative and has offered to pay for a sewing machine. They had one in Asda for £40 so got that! Grandma paid me back today so need to get that in the bank tomorrow. Foretting sewing machine, spent £60 so hopefully will only have to get bread and milk during week - just got to keep eye on dh!!!! :) Yesterday while we were iceskating, demon baby decided she wanted a treat and asked to go bowling - she is only 3, byut when I came home dh was getting ready to take her. Asked him what with - we are skint until payday and he said 'but she wants to go'; pointed out that I' like to go to Barbados but I can't afford it!!!

Today was sister's bda so cooked dinner for all. Had a lovely day, which was good as sister has had a particularly bad week at work which ended up with her walking out. She has been to union to explain that someone is bullying her and the union have had the same complaint from at least 2 others about the same person, but you need lots of people to make statements to try and bring a case forward and in this climate people need to hang onto their jobs so are scared to!

Anyway, only 2 days to payday. :)

  • Payday has been and gone but due to some issues at work, I haven't given it much thought (shock/horror!!) I have taken over a small project on a temporary basis and while |I knew there was some resistance to the project by a few people, it has now turned into open hostility. While I know that this hostility would have been directed at whoever had taken over this project, it's made me feel very unconfortable and unhappy about going to work. I have no idea what I am going to do but I am seriously reviewing my future!
Sorry for this miserable post - but if I'm not as focussed as normal, thisis why (good news is that I haven't spent anything since it flared up cos too upset ;) )

  • Morning C,
It must be a horrible situation but at least you know it's the role not you that's disliked. Is it worth a word with your line manager?
I know we're going through constant restructures at the moment, mobile working, hot desking, etc etc and it's a continual stress and i think that's the problem, people don't like change, like the toddlers we need routine!
Keep strong, it's all good for the cv!

  • Hi, Been ice skating so feeling healthy, I can now stand up, move forward, glide and touch my toes while gliding. Oh and stop!

Anyway I have a dilemna. It is my 40th next week - sister in law phoned today and said it was about next week, passed phone to dh, then when he put phone down, I asked what he has planned and he is denying everything, saying she rang to ask us to a family party the following week!! Anyway, I had already discussed with dh that I don't want a fuss for my bday. I am too money conscious to be wasting it on a big party so I asked him to arrange a babysitter for a weekend - don't want to waste money on weekend away. Then I thought we could just laze around, go to pics and meal etc. However, I have stressed that this can't be next weekend as i want the kids with me on my bday. Now I have no idea what is happening and I don't like surprises. Poor dh is going to get moaned at whatever happens as I will moan about cost or moan that he has done nothing. I am worrying already. Is it normal to just want it all to be over so I can stop panicking ;)

Oh Cialilerin - I think you are just uber stressed. If they have organised a party, you can't change it now and I am sure you will have fun at it. If they haven't you will get what you want............to spend time with your own family. Basically it is out of your control now (that would kill me LOL)

Work - pants! Is the project related to 'rationalisation' or is it taking money away from another project? Are you able to confront the hostility and remind them its a job and if you weren't doing it............a stranger may be?

Glad skating is going well.............you will have buns of steel at the end of it as well as giving Jayne Torvill a run for her money!

  • It's definitely the control thing that is killing me ;) Also just went over the weekend to myself thing with dh and he said that he knew I wanted a weekend away!! Why do men interpret things in a different way to what is meant. Honestly if I told him I want to go ice skating, he'd book me tickets to a skating show - cos he knows I like skating !!!!! ;))

Work is just a couple of peolple in office who are resistant to change and are very used to getting their own way so have been avoiding doing a new project (although they have workload relief to do it!) They talk to me like I'm nothing (although I am actually above them) and just moan abd yet won't listen to the reasons we are doing things. Latest trick is to just ignore me - very childish!!!

Lordy lordy - read an article last week saying social care was second only to teaching for b!!!!ing!! No surprise there!

This change you are dealing with will, I am sure be first of many many changes we will experience over the next few years. If you have the guts (and I am not sure I would) confront them head on and ask them what their problem is and what they think the alternative should be. That will soon shut them up.

Re DH. At Xmas I was watching Strictly, DH said 'you love that show, don't you' and left the room. Panic insued in my head. Waited until the next day and mentioned that I didn't think I would like to go to the 'live tour' as I don't love it that much. And LOL after Christmas he told me he was going to buy me & SIL tickets as a present! Can read him like a book. I guess your DH wants to make a fuss of your 40th and thinks you are trying to save pennies by saying you don't want to go away. Bless!
