wmf - what are you studying for? I finished my MSc last year, it was all done via distance learning which was a slog but worth it.

Hi nesssie- I also did my BA then MA (MSc in Scotland:p) through distance learning and know how much of a slog it can be with working as well, but it was all worth it as you say.
I've taken the plunge this year (well, last year now!) and have given up work to do a fulltime PhD in Literature, instead of distance learning. It's still doing a lot on my own, obviously, so the distance learning was good discipline!

JackieO - good luck for tomorrow.

Be careful, all you snowy people out there. I watched a car (from the window)trying to get up a small hill out of the carpark - tried 5 or 6 times then went back to parking space. We have to head out at Asd@ in a little while to get a cheapie duvet and cover for our dogs. Would usually get from a charity shop but little dog managed a huge barf (sorry of TMI) so it has gone out. At the moment I'm using 1 duvet for both of them - will get sorted with dog beds again when we have our own place.

    Ok, sandwiches to be made.

was going to say morning all but I see its afternoon already:o:D
Taplord and I had a lie in till 10am:eek: unheard of for me but I was obviously in need of the rest.
The he noticed messages on both our phones from DS1 to say his partner had left him after a row at 3am this morning and he was in a state and didn't know what to do. I phoned him straight away and he's calmed down a bit - it appears he told his OH a few home truths and he didn't like it:rolleyes: but I think he'll be back when he's had time to think about it. Anyway he's coming over to meet 2 of his school friends for lunch then coming to ours - hopefully he might stop the night so we can have a good talk.

    Plans for today are

    housework(done)
skip - lots of recycling to do
    walk dog
    ironing
    general decluttering
2 loads of washing(1 done 1 in machine)

    thats about it -

Diva - I spoke to Janet on the phone and she sounds so happy to be home, she's got to go back on Tuesday to see the consultant for her results I think. Luckily she managed to avoid dialysis. Hows your friends doin?

JackieO - good luck at the hospital tomorrow x

    Have a great day all

    Take care x

I couldn't find the recipe for my soup on the CDWM website, but went back to 4OD and found the programme I watched.

For anyone interested, it's from series 1 and is episode 77 [still couldn't find it on the website :o]

Anyway, I've written it down as it was shown on the programme, and it does look like a really nice soup :)

1 onion, chopped and fried until golden.
Butternutt squash, peeled, de-seeded and chopped into chunks
    Sprig of rosemary
1 ripe pear, peeled, chopped and pips removed.
    Zest of an orange
1/2 litre of chicken stock added to onions
Add veg, simmer for 25 minutes
    Blend thoroughly.

She then strained the liquid through a sieve.

I'm going to try this tomorrow, so will let you know if it tastes as good as it looks :)

  • Have posted a few times on here and lurked the rest of the time.........;)

My New Year resolution is to get back on track OS wise......Work full time, 2 DDs at dancing 3 nights a week, (also 1 non-dancing veggie DD) and dancing competitions at least twice a month at weekends! And husband away on business a lot too, so NEED to be organised!

So, I've dusted down my slow cooker & breadmaker and sorted my freezer & cupboards - just had Tesco shop delivered, saved nearly £30 with offers that I will definately use! :D (and no substitutions or out of stock items :j )

Decorations down and everywhere hoovered today too.

Thanks everyone for all the great advice on here & hello again!!

    Afternoon all.

Mioliere - glad to hear your back is better.

Bitsy - I was willing your DS to sleep again last night but it obviously wasn't to be. Hope you can catch up on sleep soon!

Last night I was so bored I did a whole pile of ironing whilst watching causalty - very unlike me to willingly get the iron out!! Anyway, kids stuff all done ready for return to school Tuesday, and my work stuff done.

Last night/this morning I have been sorting out paperwork. Been sticking it in piles in the kitchen when it arrives, so have 12 months of bills and miscellaneous paperwork lying around. Have sorted it all out and got rid of anything I don't need, has made the kitchen look so much tidier!

Been to tesco and got a few bits, amazing how quickly your bill mounts up though.:o Off to London tomorrow hopefully (if weather ok) so wanted to get some lunch box type food rather than spend a fortune whilst there.

Got some washing to stick in the dryer, which I will do shortly. Tea is a quorn "chicken" and mushroom pie from the freezer, roast spuds, carrots and peas, yum! Diet starts again Tuesday, so am making the most of it til then!

I watched an episode of 'Come Dine With Me', last week and one of the recipes was a butternut squash and pear soup, which looked really nice, so I'm going to see if I can find a recipe for it, as I would like to make it tomorrow once I've bought the stuff I need.

    Is this the one?
