As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Jackie - Was lovely to see you starting the thread yesterday hon.
Nic1 - I cried for about the final 20 mins of Dr Who, it was so sad! And I was pleasantly surprised that the little we saw of the new Dr, he kept that frenetic David Tennent energy up.
Sunny - Still thinking of you and yours sweetie.
Mummysaver - Hope the kitten turns up soon. Maybe someone else has adopted them? Hope the posters work.
Remmie - It's a well known fact that if you eat after walking you burn off five times the amount of calories...

Halight - I have my seeds sorted and ready to plant out on the windowsill in Feb. Last year I was way too late planting and though I ended up with good crops, it will be nice to get ahead of the game this year. I have peppers, chillis and tomatoes seeds so far.
SunnyGirl - You know I am thinking of you all still. Am a bit envious of everyone with snow actually, we have none here and it's even been sunny and a lot warmer the last couple of days.
Taplady - Hope Janet is doing Ok. My hip is just a dull ache now thank you.
LadyGrim - Hope your cold has cleared up and that you have been able to visit your husband. We are trying to do an inventory of the cupboards too, so that we can do a store-cupboard challenge.
Bitsy - I didn't fancy David Tennant either at first but the more I watched him the more fanciable he became and with Dr Who you probably need to start at the beginning of a story line rather than the one you watched which was definately tying up old stories. Give it another chance when it comes back, you don't have to fancy the Dr to enjoy the show, that is just a bonus!!
Dinner will be sausage and bacon spicy casseroley thing.. my OH was given some organic lincolnshire sausages by a colleague yesterday as a thanks for a lift. (Her OH is a manager at the place they package them so they get them at a vast discount and are a kind of currency for her..
) and we have a packet of bacon left and kidney beans etc in stock so a NSD is on the cards! Lunch will be cheese on toast. HM bread of course.

My decorations are still up as it is my friends birthday on Tuesday and she and her OH are coming down for dinner and I have a very old friend that I haven't seen for years coming round for the afternoon on Weds. So I will be taking them down either Weds night or Thursday I guess. I need to plan the meal for Tuesday and also make a birthday cake, time permitting.
Tristan is very tired and worn out - I think trying to be Ok for his kids over Christmas took a lot more energy than he thought.
Anyway, I hope everyone's day is the very best it can be for them and that anyone under the weather feels better. With love and light to all.

I hope you don't mind me asking this here, you've all been so friendly and helpful before and I don't know where else to find the answer!
I got some smart price foil from asda, and used it to wrap sandwiches and freeze them yesterday, and then this morning whilst waiting for the kettle to boil I was bored so reading the packet for it, and it says not to use it in the freezer.
Does anyone know why that is, and if it's dangerous to use it?Dogs and Cats are better than kids because they eat less, don't ask for money... and if they get pregnant, you can sell their children!0 -
are you two up early or up late?
As for the foil, I guess they are worried about some chemicals breaking down in the foil by being frozen and so feel that they have to cover their backs by putting a warning sign on it? (however, this could just be a rambling of an insomniac...)0 -
Hi Pink - I am up early.. :rotfl:You aren't supposed to start the thread before you go to bed so normally if it's going at this time, one of we early risers have done it!!
Clutter hon - I use foil in the freezer occasionally but I think it might be that it is easily torn and I guess perhaps foods could get freezer burn, or like Pink says, perhaps it degrades. I don't really know but I have used it for items that have been in the fridge for several months without a problem.
I guess if you are worried, take it out and put it in something else, or just don't leave it in there very long.
On a completely different subject.. THIS is a cute video that made me laugh!

OMG that video is so cute! I showed it to my cat that is sat next to me but I somehow don't think he's going to do that for me
is there a special reason for you to be up this early today or do you get up at this time of the day normally? I think it's amazing that people can get up this early!0 -
Good morning everyone.
MSD -what a lovely video. Thanks for sharing it with us. (((Hugs))) to Tris - I hope he manages to build his energy back up.
Welcome to all the newbies - you've found a brilliant thread!
I hope everyone's new year has got off to a good start. My back ache finally went so it means I have no excuse not to get the ironing done today!
Talking about foil in the freezer, I didn't know that it shouldn't be used that way but can only think it's because it might split. I've used it in the past, though, with no ill effects. The last lot I bought here was a 'no frills' version and it's really useless - it's wafer thin and not fit for anything because it tears so easily. I'm loathe to throw it away, though, so have to find another use for it.
I haven't seen the last Dr Who yet but will try and catch up with it later. I must say, I think David Tennant is a brilliant actor; he has such an expressive face and I could listen to that lovely voice of his for hours. I hope we haven't seen the last of him.
I haven't caught up with the last day or two of the thread, so I hope everyone is keeping well. (((Hugs))) for those who are poorly or anxious.
OS-wise, I'm not sure about dinner today. I bought a load of meat yesterday that I have to portion up this morning; we'll be having chicken but I have to decide whether to roast a whole one or joint it - a job I hate but it's worth it for the amount of meals I can get from it.
Well, I suppose I'd better go and have a shower and get the day underway.
I hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

Morning everyone.
Up twice with DS in the night  We've stopped lying on his bed to settle him off so I actually think I fell asleep sitting upright against the wall  I think I must have been like that for an hour at least :rotfl:
Got a chicken to put on in a moment that will be for tea, fancy some roasties with itNot sure what else is on the agenda for today.
FIL is offering to buy us a larger freezer :T I know you lot must be thinking OMG how much stuff has she got already given my list yesterday but it's such a pain getting into my small chest freezer, everything has to be carefully stacked in order to get it in. And when I bulk buy my meat from Costco I end up having to give most of it to my mum as I can't fit it all in. The one H saw is at least 5 foot long  But at least if we get on that big H can stock up on the reduced bread when he spots it. So anyway I think we'll head up to Comet so I can have a look at it.
Need to start lookiing at campsites for our summer hols. I think H fancies Norfolk, his brother lives there and when we had a boat holiday on the Broads we hardly saw anything that wasn't right next to the water
Not sure what other OS I will do today. There is some ironing and the never ending washing to do.
mioliere - glad to hear your back is better.
clutternutter - no idea about the foil. I hardly ever read the backs of packets etcI'd just use it regardless :rotfl:
By the way all this talk of snow is making me VERY jealous. Please please can I have someI would really love to take DS sledging again (so I can be a big kid again - I just love hurtling down the hill, such an adrenaline junkie!).
Have a lovely Sunday, OS or not. Hugs to those that need them.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

MSD love the video, I showed it my cat too, dont think she was impressed, but she did wonder where the noise was coming from
Another David Tennant fan here. I am gutted he has regenerated he was by far the best Dr. Have to say though I wasnt bothered by him at first but he definitely grows on youI am watching Hamlet at the moment - something I wouldnt have dreamt of pre david Tennant ( he plays Hamlet
)
We have a couple of inches of snow this morning and its very icy , just heard a car trying to get up the road, I dont know why they even bother , our hill is so steep they have no chance unless they have 4 wheel drive
going to try and have a relaxing day today I feel knackered , havent had any holiday over xmas except xmas day and boxing day although I need to do some studying - not sure if I will get round to it
left overs from last nights buffet for lunch and tea - so thats easy
have a good day everyone xx0 -
Good Morning All
Brrrr very cold here again but still no more snow :jI am sure the kids are hoping for it so they don't have to go back to school on Tuesday, whereas I am counting down the hours till they do go back:D
Nothing very exciting today, will do tesco online shop, iron the clothes that dried yesterday & cook roast chicken for dinner. I have definately got to pop out to pick up some veggies, don't know whether to pop out to real shops or not - will see what OH feels like.
House is reasonable clean and tidy, although all the main Xmas leftovers have gone the kids have loads of chocolate so no baking needed at the moment.
Anyway, (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one, and hope you all have a good day.x0 -
Hello folks, going to babysit my GS for a couple of hours this morning as DD1 is a nurse and has been called in to work due to high levels of sickness within the hospital - the Norovirus has hit staff and patients alike. Taking my veg with me to make some soup which will be for our lunch and then will bring some of this home as well. Later on will get all the ironong done and put away, really fancy ham and egg pie for tea so will make that with potato wedges and peas, there is trifle left over so that will do for pudding.
Will have to prise the washing off the line as it was not too bad here so hung out jerseys and jeans and forgot about them,
hope you all have a good day,Every days a School day!0
