    Good morning,

I have a friend coming round in an hour or so, bringing her house elf to play with mine, so I've had a quick tidy up and a hoover round. No point tidying the toy room too much as it will look like it's been ransacked by the time the children have finished anyway.

Yesterday I turned and elderly bag of potatoes and some cheese that would have needed throwing out in a day or two into some yummy cheesy jacket potato halves, which I've frozen. I've no idea if my friend is staying for dinner or not, but there's plenty in the freezer, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Sunnygirl thinking of you and your family

    Take care all of you.

    Morning all.

A very cold morning here, today.

My DDs are still tucked up warmly in bed. I wonder if I should go and pay them back for all the times they used to get me up, when they were younger :D

Anyway, I've had quite a busy morning.

    • Bacon is cooked and will just need warming when they get up.
    • Bread rolls are made, so it's bacon rolls for breakfast - or brunch!
    • The gammon joint is in the SC and the potatoes are prepared, ready to roast, for our evening meal.
    • The wm is on it's second load.
    • I've prepared the girls work for tomorrow, when they start back.
    • I've sent emails to rmind everyone that the fencing sessions start up again next week. All the children passed their level 1 and are moving on to level 2. My girls really enjoy it, which is good.
    • and, I've battered the credit card on Amazon :D [my favourite bit] buying educational stuff for the next term.
I think I've used up enough energy for the week :D

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the mice have finally vacated the building. There hasn't been any sign or sound of them.

There's a bit of stuff needs doing in the house, but that will have to wait until Tuesday, when it will get a top to toe clean. DDs do need to sort out their bedrooms today, though.

I watched an episode of 'Come Dine With Me', last week and one of the recipes was a butternut squash and pear soup, which looked really nice, so I'm going to see if I can find a recipe for it, as I would like to make it tomorrow once I've bought the stuff I need.

Anyway, hope you all have a lovely day, whatever you're doing :)

We have a couple of inches of snow this morning and its very icy , just heard a car trying to get up the road, I dont know why they even bother , our hill is so steep they have no chance unless they have 4 wheel drive

Morning all! Don't usually post on here as I don't have access at work, then by the time I've come home and logged on it's usually gone well past the point I feel I can pop in (just me). So hello today :j!

I'm not doing much today, boyf came home from seeing his family in Paris yesterday so he's come back to mess up the flat and leave things on the side in the kitchen even though the dishwasher is empty (I made him get out of bed this morning to put something in the dishwasher  neurotic much? But I figure it's tough love!). I'm trying to get organised in the flat, there are piles of clothes all over the bedroom, and his attitude to things doesn't help. I've started, not a new job, but a different 'branch' if you like and it's going to be much more intensive than where I was previously, for example I could leave the flat at about 9ish and generally be home by about 5.30 (at the latest) whereas now I have to leave at about 8.15am and sometimes don't get home until 7pm! As I cook from scratch and have a small freezer this has led to an increase in takeaways being sought, as we live in London I can do it all online and I get cashback on quidco through one of the sites so it's not difficult to convince myself and boyf... Sorry this is just my rant and I really do appreciate the fact that this is the most pressing thing in my life at the moment!

I quoted the above ^ as my grandparents came to ours for Christmas, they used to live in Hertford and emigrated to Canada for a few years (with my mother and her 3 sisters) then came back to Hertford. In Hertford there's a very big hill which can be impassible in the ice, I was mentioning that, this season, one of my friends had to leave her car and walk home because she couldn't get up this hill and my grandmother was telling me about a time, when in Hertford and icy, she saw lots of people trying to get up this hill and failing, she drove up it in reverse (because her car was front-wheel drive), got to the top and saw everyone else, who had been looking at her like she was insane, got the idea and started doing it too! This was a trick she learnt whilst in Canada.

If anyone's got to the bottom of this then you deserve a medal :o I hope that everyone has a lovely day and that things that are wrong, even if they don't improve, begin to make you stronger as a person.

    Take care everyone

    Caroline xx

    Good morning!

Baking turned out well yesterday - should do more but it's not good for my middle aged spread!! How come OH & DS2 eat what they like and still keep slim?!!

Taking decs down today as we're both back to work tomorrow. It should be fun as we're also looking after DGD (19mths) so Mummy & Daddy can take their decs down in peace!! I'm sure she will help us in between giving new dolly more din-din about 100 times!!

Hope everyone is well. Hugs for those in need.

Good morning all, blooming chilly one again in Kent. Snow hasn't started yet but its suppossed to be on the way .I got a quick line of washing out first thing ,it won't dry but at least it will get a bit of a blow I will finish it of on the airer.Ommelet for breakfast, and I have some soup and crusty bread for lunch. This afternoon I am off to see my DD and the boys so dinner will be at hers tonight.I have been giving my bedromm a bit of a 'bottom out' as it was getting so cluttered.Hopefully eldest DD will be here soon and she can help me change the sheets and carry my hoover upstairs for me.
Tomorrow I have a hospital apointment to see the oncologist so fingers crossed all is still well.
I feel fine although my right arm is a bit of a nuisance with the lymphodema but I should be getting my new made-to-measure sleeve sometime this week so that will help.
Hope everyone has a super sunday and keeps wrapped up and warm.
    Cheers Chums JackieO

    Thanks Reverbe.

    I will have a look, now :)

Edited to add: No luck with finding it on the website :(

There are recipes available on the net, but not quite the same, however, I can sort of recall the ingredients, so will see what I come up with :)

  • :DMorning everyone, it's a gorgeous day up here in Glasgow! We had another two or three inches of snow yesterday where I am, but TBH I am sick of the sight of it and would like it to go now.

The tree will be up until twelfth night, that's something I won't be glad to see the back of. I love my tree and the house is always so bare without it, and then I'll start seeing the bits that need redecorating, etc. and the OH will be hiding from me to avoid my finding extra jobs for him to do!

OFf to w*rk again today at 1pm. Yesterday was busy, busy, busy, but there was a manager helping from another department, who dealt with the complaints, which made the workload a bit easier. Today though I'm not doing my own jobs, I'll be manning the phones, which is what I used to do, and I do enjoy that, so although I'm sure it will be stressful, I'm looking forward to it. Good stress, is there such a thing?
Still haven't done the mealplan. Have set OH the challenge of stocktaking while I'm at work, so I know what I've got, and as I'm off w*rk tomorrow (Bank Holiday up here), I'll get it sorted then.

Bitsy I was getting some bits and bobs from the Lakeland sale last night, and although you don't have snow round yours, maybe this will help?

Have a brilliant day everyone, hugs as usual to anyone in need, and special hugs to Sunnygirl and family.

    Hi Everyone!

Well I woke up really late AGAIN but back to work tomorrow so may as well have the lie in while I can! OH has bar shift during day today, think it is the first Sunday I have been on my own in ages........my guilty pleasure of watching Hollyoaks while he is usually hungover in bed is now all out in the open and I am blatantly watching it in the living room LOL :D:D:D

Anyway, so far I have been on the relationship boards realising my dream of being an Agony Aunt.

Plans for today - OH gets back at 3.30 so would feel much better about sitting on here most of the day (again) if I could get some jobs done before:-

    1. Do a load of washing and drying
    2. Do the dishes
    3. Cook dinner - pies from Tesco (reduced from ages ago, from freezer), baby new potatotes mashed (reduced), veg - either frozen still from Xmas or use up swedes and parsnips by mashing them???? Not sure!

    4. was going to go to shops today - Poundland for cleaning stuff, Boots for hairdye before going back to work but there has been some snow since I decided that!!!! Might make it at least to the local Tesco and get some food in for the next few days.....

Have a nice day everyone and hope the weather not too bad for you x
