Morning all
No idea what we're doing today, we may go for a walk, but will wait to see if the air warms up I have a cough & bark like dog when the cold air hits my chest.
I'm sat here with a cuppa & some porridge looking at the frost on the garden.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester

Morning folks:hello:
Bit more snow here last night. At least it makes wiping the dogs' feet easier after their walks!
Bitsy- I lived in North Suffolk for 17 years before moving recently. Worked in Norfolk. Pm me if you want info. Beautiful part of the country.
Sorry to hear that Tris feels poorly, Diva. The effort of trying to 'pretend' can be very exhausting.
Soup to be made today. Either veg or minestrone. Healthier eating starts with a vengeance!
Older dog a bit stiff after her gallop by the sea yesterday - she was tearing about like a pup - leaping and twisting:rolleyes:. She has tablets for days like this so I'll give her one.
Not sure what else the day will bring OS-wise.
Need to get some reading done so thought 9.30-12 would be a good studying time. If anyone sees me on here, hoick me off:D!
Take care everyone

Morning All
Late start for me this morning...just in time for getting ready to go back to work - why does it always happen like that?
Not sure whats on the agenda for today. I have a MS job this afternoon and I suppose i'll build the day around that.
I had a small victory over 'authority' yesterday and was quite proud. DS1 works for the company with the 'golden arches' and quite frankly the shift managers are nothing more than bullying in a uniform. DS1 had an accident in the car on christmas day and hurt his back and his knee - he rang in sick on boxing day as he could barely get out of bed. I told him to stay off but his next shift he went in saying he would see how he went on. At one point he asked the store manager for a five minute break as his back was sore - she said no, and on several occasions bumped into him causing him to stumble (). After that my foot went down and I said he wasn't going back until he was better so he ended up being off all week. He went back to start his shift yesterday and firstly they had cut him from five shift to two next week and then the shift manager said he wasn't allowed to start work without a doctors note and sent him home!!! I'm afraid I could hold back no more and I was on the phone to her before he was even in the house! She was told in no uncertain terms what the procedure was for self certification by law, how it was down to her as an employer to provide one that I wanted it in writing the grounds on which she had sent him home and also why his shifts had been cut ready to take to a solicitor on Monday as the company had made a clear breach of employment law. She then said she was just following orders and would need to speak to the store manager. Eventually I got a call back yesterday (after ringing her again and quoting their own sickness policy at her from the employee handbook which obviously followed the law) to say that the reason josh had been prevented from doing his shift was that the manager was worried about him because of his injuries and the heavy lifting sometimes involved in the job - I said I found this very difficult to believe as this was the same manager who had refused him a five minute respite.... the shift manager also said that he would be paid for his shift yesterday and that she had a company self certificate for josh to complete today (she had in the first call denied all knowledge of the emplyer providing it) so I was quite proud of myself....DS1 was very grateful but also a bit worried that they will be 'funny' with him...I told him I don't think they'll dare;) :T
Sorry about that - turned into a long one!
Have a good day

Morning everyone! Happy New Year to you all, I hope that 2010 is a good year for everyone.
Yesterday was my DH's birthday, so we had a quiet celebration in the house as the roads were too icy to contemplate doing anything. Found a couple of M&S curries in the freezer, so had them for dinner.
Tonight's meal is going to be fish pie. I've got salmon, cod and smoked haddock out of the freezer and along with some prawns that should make a good scoff. Will make a couple of others to go into the freezer for those nights when I can't be bothered cooking!
wmf - what are you studying for? I finished my MSc last year, it was all done via distance learning which was a slog but worth it.
Sistercas - hope your studying goes okay too
JC - well done for supporting your son as you did. I hope that his back is better? If his accident happened at work, then it should have been recorded in the accident book. It's important that this is done, especially if he were to have long term problems with his back.
Clutternutter - I can't think that there's anything that the foil would react with
I'm off to walk the dog and to see how slippy it is outside. We've got more snow forecast, it's over fortnight now since it started.
Have a good Sunday!0 -
:DI am cheesed off with this site locking me out after a few minutes, wrote a message which has gone into the ether once again.:eek:
It’s a bright sunny morning, we have had a slight dusting of snow again, not sure how cold it is have not ventured out yet. OH wants to go for a walk, so we will soon find out.
Another late start, we have been sitting up watching Alibi and so late going to bed and after midnight before we put the light out, so its after 9am before we wake. That will have to stop, it makes the morning too short. We have a decision to make about the future which is not helping either.
My DS2 and his family all had colds when they came Thursday, it look like they have passed it on. I never get colds these days, mainly because we do not spend time with a crowd of people now we are retired. I have been sneezing this morning, and my nose is running like a tap, but I have not had the sore throat which usually preceeds a cold. Will have to wait and see if it develops.
:eek::eek:
I spent a very happy couple of hours with my quilting friend yesterday afternoon, a couple of cups of tea and a chat, lovely.:T:TWas 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning all
Had a slow start this morning, slept quite badly then just couldn't make myself get out of bed until 9 a.m. which is very late for me. Had a quiet night in last night and spent some time putting NYE pictures on facebook - seems to take me ages to do things with photos but managed eventually:D
Has snowed lightly overnight here then froze so everywhere is very slippy. Snow is just starting again now but they are HUGE flakes drifting down so looks very pretty:D
Todays meal is sorted from the freezer from huge leftovers from NYD. Mash, carrot and swede mashed together, red cabbage, and yes Turkey:D (Hurray - I am still not sick of it yet!!) Just might do some cauliflower cheese to go with it all - yum!
SunnyGirl - thinking of you and yours.
Diva - hope Tris improves again, now the festive season is over he can relax more
JC2703 - well done you on reading the bullies the riot act:T
Mioliere - glad to hear you back is better.
Clutternutter - I have frozen things in foil before (noticeably garlic bread) but have had to throw it away in the end as the foil seemed to go brittle in the freezer, tore very easily and the food got freezer burn, so maybe that it the reason it is not recommended.
Have a good day all

Morning all,
Beautiful day here, bright and sunny but still freezing, need to get the bedding washed and on the line for an airing today, for tea last night we had some smoked salmon which i had bought previously and frozen, I sent OH up to the shop for a nice loaf and he came back with some scallops :j, which are my favourite but very expensive so we dont have them often, they were delish, so this morning we will have the rest of the salmon in some scrambled egg.
The lady buying my house came round yesterday, she is sooo lovely, I am glad she is moving in, she has a little boy, (about 5 or 6) and little dog loves children sooooo much, she jumped up at him to give him a kiss and made him cry, the little lad also told me that he liked his new room, but that is was a bit girley
Another dog person here, and a David Tennant fan, the best Dr Who ever imho :T
Dinner today will be pasta and garlic bread I think, slowly emptying the freezer, I have an urge to bake, but everything is packed away so that wont be happening.
Yesterday we packed a load more stuff, and I washed all the walls and woodwork in the main bedroom, tomorrow I will re do the bathroom, (oh had done it, but not very thorough ) and then upstairs is all done, and will just require a hoover through when we go.
well thats it from me today (quite a long one) have fun all xx

Morning all!
Bright and sunny here and must be a lot warmer as I kicked all my covers off last night!
OS stuff will involve the kitchen today and Mount Washing! Also need to find uniforms for big three, dd3 is off tomorrow so her's isn't urgent! I'm at work this afternoon and then off out to watch Sherlock.
Was meant to go out last night, but opted for a curry (hm of course) with the kids and it was lovely, nice just to be in the warm with the people I love. Then I tucked myself up for a nice early night, only to be woken by a phone call at 1am! But it was very good news and has left me very smiley today (Redruby, all I can say is thanks, your advice worked and we're gonna sort it all out!).
Anyway I need to get on and dye my hair, as the white strands are now glowing and standing out amazingly! Sort of OS as I'm doing it myself!
Lunch will be leftover curry, naans and pilau rice. Dinner will be something from the freezer for the troops as they will all be in and out.
Have a good day all, will make illy and catch up whilst dye is working! xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Good morning.
It's freezing here but no more snow today. I agree that snow does make wiping the dogs feet (and legs & tummies!) easier so I've quite liked it for that.
No change on the MIL front DH is just getting ready to go there. I plan on knitting, hoovering and general tidying up jobs today. I ironed all the uniforms the day after they had finished school so that doesn't need doing thankfully :T
Everyone has had a late breakfast of cheese or eggs on toast so I won't do lunch at lunch time but an early dinner at about 4pm I think. It's potato hash with yorkshire puddings which will be yummy in this cold weather. DD is working from 1pm until 9pm so she'll eat at work in the staff section of the restaurant.
I'm also going to take the tree decorations down today. The rest have already gone away so the house won't look as bare I hope.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning all!
Its treacherous (sp!) on the roads here-iced snow and snowing again now so I may have to walk to collect dd from grandmas later-its not too far and the exercise will do me good I suppose!!
