He is my best mistake ever .

    That's lovely!

I want children, and so does my biological clock, i have for about 3 years (I'm 27, nearly 28), but I just don't feel like I am old enough or responsible enough to have one yet.

    It's like I'm still 15, and someone's just taken a magic gun, and ZAAAAAAAp! I'm nearly 30!

  • Babies don't always come to order, if you leave it too late then there is less time for treatment and less chance that treatment will work.

How late is too late - bearing in mind I was a late developer, and didn't start my periods till I was 19.

I had my milly 19 months ago when i was 18. While we dont have much money everything we do is for our daughter, and we managed to scrape some money together to buy our house 9 months ago - something i wouldn't have done if it wasn't for milly. I wouldn't say there is a best age to have a baby- as long as your good parents thats all that matters! Yes i would have prefered to have a bit more money behind us, but i love being a mummy anyway!

What a lovely thread to read of so many people who obviously love their children to bits. I have six children, I had my first when I was 20 and my sixth when I was 33 years, I've loved having all of them. The only difference that I've noticed with age is that my figure sprang back to shape much more quickly when I was younger.
It's nice now though - our eldest is 16 and I can borrow all her clothes, shoes, make up etc (never have time to buy my own !), and she babysits for us so we can finally have a social life.

I didn't have mine until I was 33 and 36. I only met my husband at 30. I feel I tire more easily than I would have in my teens/early 20s but financially we are far better off now.

On each occassion I conceived 1st time. It's really personal circs and your choice as to what you wish to do.

i had my eldest son when i was just 17 and my youngest when i was 23

im 27 now but told i look much younger !

we may have another but not for about another 6 yrs by which time the eldest will be 16 and the youngest 10 !

    we like big gaps lol

theres no right or wrong time IMO ,some women are never "ready" for having a baby emotionally / mentally / financially ! but when it happens you cope and adapt

I think up to 18 to 35 is the right age.

I married at 17 and was definitely not ready financially or emotionally for children then.

I had our son at 23, we were more financially ready and had the enthusiasm to cope.

We would be more patient nowadays tho' but tire quicker. 18 years experience helps too, so would be less uptight and more relaxed

Ideal age is dependent on circumstances, health and financial security IMO.
