I'm still ill from Saturday, I think I have alcohol poisoning. _pale_ Had a good time seeing friends and had a lovely lunch so it's something we need to do more and just take turns hosting. Think I will drink a lot less next time though, OH had to come and pick me up at 2am and practically carried me to the car. I spent most of yesterday still drunk and was soo ill, it really wasn't pleasant.

So feeling pretty down and still ill today, large amounts of alcohol do not agree with me. :(

Hi gilli, yes I've been reading but not up to posting much!

I really did enjoy seeing my friends, including some I haven't seen for ages and we will definitely have to make it a regular thing as we all have our own houses now so can change the venue each time. I think once a month or maybe once every two months would be good. :D It's also fairly money saving as host does munchies/buffet and guests bring drinks - but not too many next time.

We did totally traumatise a friend's OH (who we hadn't really met before) with our drunken (loud) conversations - he now thinks we're all insane. :rotfl: My OH just had to deal with me phoning at 2am for him to come and get me, then lying on my friend's bathroom floor for about half an hour whilst my friends talked nonsense and then being sick and crying. Then my friend's cupboard fell off her wall - and it was full of glasses and mugs. So she was crying as well and went upstairs to wake up her OH and tell him - must have been about 3am, I'm sure he was pleased. :rotfl: Didn't get home until after 4am and OH had to put me to bed. :o

Had a talk with OH about his cc and another £400 has been spent on it. He gave me it to keep so he can't use it again - was beyond raging when he told me as that's the amount that we paid off with the insurance money and its all just been run up again.

Had to rush round to my mum's this afternoon as my sister was worried about her. She suffers from depression and had sent my sister a strange text that worried her, then wasn't answering her phone. _pale_ Turned out she was just asleep but really down. :( She has promised to go to the doctor and my sister spoke to my brother about it (he still lives at home) and he will try to keep an eye on her. She needs to get out and meet new people to do things with but struggles, especially when she's down. I really worry about her when she's like this. :(

Well, just been trudging along here. Took my sister and the twins out shopping the other day which was good fun although exhausting. Plus my car key broke in my pocket. Had to buy superglue to stick it back together so we could get home again, luckily we have a spare key but it's not a fob like the other one and think it will be expensive to replace. :(

Been working lates the last couple of nights and on the same again for the next two, very tired already.

Other disaster of the week is that our gas has been turned off for the last two days because of a reported gas leak in one of the flats downstairs. So no heating, hot water or hobs. Apparently should be turned back on today but they've already had to break into one flat to check their gas valve and need to get into another before they can turn the supply back on and then turn each flat's valve on individually to find the leak.

The gas man was in yesterday when I was still in my pyjamas :o and was quite taken with my cats. :)

No news on the debt front as we have no money, haven't even been padding as we are so skint. :(

  • Hey Sashy, sounds like one of those really annoying weeks. But it's friday so a new week starts! Know what you mean about the being skint, I keep getting carried away and spending out of my strict budget which then screws me up for the rest of the month... if i don't want to spend on my card then I have £10 left for 'fun' and £25 left for food until the 30th. Although I have saved money for a trip to Glasgow next week... after that, I've just got my friends wedding in November and then I have to stay on the straight and narrow and not book anything else!!

I'm still interested in a sock monkey for someones christmas present (and probably one for me!) if you ever want to sell one xx

  • Sounds like you've had one heck of a week with one thing after another.

When do you get your next break? Do you work set shift patterns so you can plan things, even if its only a small treat for the 2 of you.

    Hi psycho and gilli. :hello:

Yes gilli, I know when my days off are each week, just not what shifts I will be working if you know what I mean. Just difficult to fit everything in when I do have time off with OH, as also want to see friends etc. Luckily can usually see my mum and sister when I'm off during the week as my sister is at home with the kids and my mum works shifts as well.

Psycho, I've come to the conclusion that OH and I are rubbish with budgeting, always spend too much. :o I'd be happy to make you a sock monkey but not to charge money for it. If you sent me socks you wanted a monkey made out of and paid the postage for it to be sent back that would be fine. :) PM me if you want.

Actually have a Sunday off which is a nice change, am working early shifts the next two days and then off for two days, so not too bad. :)

Our gas was turned back on on Friday night thankfully - was very glad as needed to wash my hair desperately! Didn't realise how much we used our gas for until we didn't have it - no hot water or heating.

Should really get on with my nephew's soldier monkey as it's his birthday next week and it still doesn't have arms, ears or a face. :o I seem to work in spurts with the monkeys and will do a lot at once then leave it for a week.

OH is making lasagne again tonight so just having a relaxing time and doing nothing.

  • Enjoy having your meal cooked for you.
Keep up the good work with the sock monkeys. I need to go back to the Christmas thread and look at the ideas for flannel gifts, I made some Reindeer flannels last year which went down quite well.

Thanks gilli, had a nice dinner the other night. Feeling drained after two early shifts - I'm really not a morning person but it's nice to go home at 2pm. :)

Got loads done yesterday after work as went round a few shops to get things we needed then came home and did a lot of cleaning, washing and ironing. Was exhausted by the time I sat down last night and think it's catching up with me today.

Went to the library after work then my friend picked me up and we went back to my house for tea and biscuits. Stopped via Morrison's so got meat for the cats and milk etc. Wanted to make a cheese toastie but didn't realise I needed cheese.

My nephew's sock monkey now has arms attached and ears sewn, just have to stuff and attach the ears then do the face. Have ordered a book of fairy tales for the twins but don't know what else to get them for their birthday. My sister said they don't need anything in particular as they have loads of toys and clothes, so I'm a bit stumped.

Agreed with friend that we will all meet up again soon and each take turns hosting and making the food. She was all excited and went home to plan her menu! :rotfl: I think this could be funny, she kept saying "Ooh it'll be like Come Dine with Me." :rotfl:

Finally finished my nephew's soldier sock monkey last night, made a beret out of green felt for it and everything. :D Will try and post a picture later in the week.

Been working early shifts for the last three days and will be doing lates for the next four then five days off. :j Meeting a friend for lunch in Edinburgh next Saturday, not seen her for a long time so should be nice.

My twin nieces have their birthday as well as their big brother so will be going round later to drop off presents. Hope my nephew likes his sock monkey - OH named it Saddam cos of the beret and wanted me to make a felt moustache for it. :rotfl: Ended up buying wee t-shirts for the twins as couldn't think what else to get them.

OH is away with my mum to pick up the beds my sister has bought for the twins as they're too big for their cots now and just climb out of them.

I'm feeling very drained after work and we have once again nearly gone over our O/D limit. We should be able to sort it out this month as we changed the date we pay our mortgage so the next payment will come out of October's pay rather than September. This should give us a decent chance of getting out of the O/D which is just over 1 month's mortgage payment and staying out of it.
