Managed to get up at 5am for work but it was a struggle - still 3 more earlies to go this week. On my way out of the close I had to step over a drunk man sleeping on the stair landing. Got a bit of a fright seeing him lying there! Think he must have got home, sat down on the stairs for a rest and passed out! :rotfl:

Feeling very sleepy now as got home from work after 2pm, did dishes, put a washing on and put one away then did the ironing. Managed to knock the iron off the ironing board onto the carpet and now have an iron shaped dent in it. Thankfully it's not black though.

Can you clainm on house insurance?

Thanks gilli, yes it's hard getting used to being back at work, has only been a month so not quite there yet!

The parcels - well OH sells a lot of stuff on ebay and always used to post them himself at lunchtime but has now moved office and is using it as an excuse to get me to post his stuff for him! My new workplace is close to the main post office here - hence the queues. Was pleasantly surprised today that the queue went really fast as they had more than 2 counters open (which is the usual ). I just hate queueing there, on some days it's just full of junkies waiting to get their giros. *shudder*

:) Glad my monkeys have personality. :) OH likes to name them. :rotfl:

Psycho, I agree, that dress is lovely, hope you get it. Glad you like the monkeys. :)

Pippo - nice to see you, I actually never thought about the house insurance, will have a look at it. The burn isn't too noticeable as I picked the iron up quite quickly but you can feel it when you stand on it. :o

Finished work at half 11, should really go to bed now - one more shift tomorrow night then two days off. :j

Just sitting about for now as feeling very drained - just want to get my shift over and done with so I can have two days off. Still learning on the job and don't know what to do a lot of the time which means I still feel quite nervous about going to work. :(

Not got much to do on the housework front so will just try and relax before going to work - easier said than done though.

Hoping to get my barclaycard under £300 with my next payment which would be very good. :j Need to check the current account though, think I will do that tomorrow.

 We went over our O/D limit today because all the bills came out and I don't get paid until tomorrow. Luckily (!) OH checked the account this morning. I had to transfer £50 from the O/D of my other account to take us under the limit so we didn't get charged. Will be able to transfer the £50 back tomorrow to clear the other O/D.

This seems to be a problem with my new job - paid 4-weekly instead of monthly - and the majority of our bills come out on the 1st of the month, except council tax () and our car loan ( who wanted to charge us to change the payment date cos we already changed it once this year! Not our fault OH was TUPE'd and had his pay date changed again!).

So we should be okay tomorrow but will need to be careful this month - don't want to get back into the O/D pit again where the wages just clear the O/D and you're straight back into it. :(

Went out to Ikea with my mum and sister today, bought an oven glove for 79p since mine is done, 4 spools of thread (1 black, 2 white, 1 cream) for £1.99 and 2 nice bright plant pots ( cerise pink and bright blue :)) for a couple of plants I accquired recently - £1.29 each. Overall, a good spend for Ikea. :j

Used £20 of Argos vouchers to buy a new Brita jug, which came with 6 filter cartridges for £24.99, so only paid £4.99 which is pretty good. :j

Will try and make a start on the tail and arms for the monkey that's a work in progress tonight as need to finish it by Monday since OH is going down south to see his friend on Monday night.

OH has promised to make lasagne and french fries for my dinner when he comes home from work. :D He's a gem. :A

Didn't get paid today. Think I must have got the wrong date, hoping it will be tomorrow now, otherwise we are in real trouble. :( Have also lost the details I was given for the new job - phone nos etc - had a booklet and can't find it anywhere, so can't even phone and check. :(

OH very kindly woke me up at 7.30 this morning to tell me I hadn't been paid and we had nearly went over our O/D limit again.

Not surprisingly I panicked and was searching everywhere for the booklet I had and couldn't find it. So then I started crying because I had just woken up (and I'm still so tired after my late shifts), I was panicking and just to add to everything it's my time of the month. OH then started getting angry at me and told me to stop stressing out and that I was making him late for work!

!!!!!! - he's the one who woke me up being all doom and gloom and I'd better phone my work and find out what was going on blah blah blah, cos we can't survive unless I get paid tomorrow at the latest. So I panicked, couldn't find the contact numbers and then cried. I don't understand how his mind works sometimes.

Still haven't found the booklet with the numbers, which is really annoying as I don't know where it could be. Will need to get another one when I'm back at work tomorrow. Don't have any money for breakfasts for work - normally take a yoghurt and fruit, but have ran out, so will need to think of something else to take instead.

Feeling really tired and rubbish now, managed to go back to sleep for an hour but it didn't help. :( Need to do more work on my latest sock monkey today as well - he doesn't have arms, ears or a face yet.

Also need to clean the bathroom and do some ironing, at least I can catch up on my Sky+ recorded programmes when I'm ironing.

Who do you bank with Sashy?
I'm with HSBC and when i log into my account online there is an option on the left hand side to see 'Pending transactions'
It shows me what is due to go in or out on the following day.
Might be worth a look to see if your wages are due in tomorrow or not. Or maybe ring your bank and ask them?
I find it really useful as i get paid every Friday but i'm never sure how much i am getting cos i work different hours and in different departments, so i can look at pending transactions on a Thursday and know what i am getting paid the following day :)
    Errrr...come back later ;)

Thanks Wesker, didn't think of that - the joint account that my wages go into is with Natwest, will have a look and see. Not entirely sure how much I'll be paid either as have half training pay and half full pay (I think).

Thinking about it, I think the pay is four-weekly on a Friday so it probably will be tomorrow. *prays*

We are in such a mess with money again (in the O/D a lot when I wasn't working) but should be able to sort out the O/D over the next month or two as will know what I'm likely to be paid (and when!).

Well I did get paid on Friday, phew.

Have been slogging away on early shifts and only 3 more to go until my 5 days off. :j OH has got the day off on Friday so we can do something and think I will be going for some drinks with friends on Saturday or possibly to a friend's house for drinks which is cheaper.

One of my friends has just bought her first flat so went with another friend to see it tonight. Made some vanilla cupcakes for her which was well received. :D It's a lovely flat with lots of storage and she got a bargain too.

The other friend that went with me is my friend who lost her baby recently and tonight is the first time we've seen her since the funeral. She was telling us about the birth and was crying :( but then she was managing to laugh about some things as well. Poor girl, just feel so helpless when all she wants is her baby and no one can do or say anything that will help.

Managed to finish the techno neon monkey for OH's friend and he's away to see him for a few days now. So just me and the cats for now.

Going to have a bath and better get to bed as up at 5.30am.

  • Glad your pay got sorted out. Would it be easier to switch to paying by internet banking rather than DD? Unless of course you get discount for DD's. Being paid 4 weekly means that at some point you will get paid twice in a month, in fact you may get paid twice in October, so it could give you a bit of a cushion once you get your head around it.

Hi gilli, yes think we will need to look at switching payment dates around so we don't end up in the same situation again. Also need to work on budgeting properly so we don't go into the O/D every month. I think you're right and I get paid at the start of October and again at the end, so hopefully that will help us out as well.

Finished work today at 2pm for a lovely 5 days off. :j OH is coming home tonight so will spend tomorrow together and then am seeing friends on Saturday for a boozy lunch. We are going to a friend's house and she's making us lunch, so taking a bottle that's been lurking in my kitchen for ages, just need mixers and maybe a wee something for the chef. :) Also train fare will be free due to my work so will be minimum spend. :j

Wish we had a bit of money as would like to go through to Edinburgh tomorrow with OH and do something for a change but we're skint again. :(

Also really need some new shoes for work - still wearing the shoes with holes in. :o And they're proper holes now. Luckily on the bottom of the shoes so can't be seen but can't wear them if it's raining as my feet get very wet.

Got them from M&S ages ago, just black leather pumps that were agony at first and then so comfy but cost £35 which is a bit steep. Think I would get a similar pair from them though as I definitely got my money's worth from this pair!

Plus OH just spent £70 on a pair of work shoes for himself. He just got new shoes a couple of weeks ago (£45!) and decided they were wearing down too fast - OH wrecks his shoes and goes through the soles and heels sooo quickly, they generally last 6 months at most. So apparently then bought the most expensive pair he could find - I was very restrained and didn't hit him with them.

I also suspect he used his cc for them and am not amused. Told him to take the other shoes back (which he keeps putting off - he won't get a refund soon ) and that he'd better pay his cc off asap. Don't even want to know what's he's spent on it, I don't think it's good. I really do think I'll have to take it off him but don't want to act like his mum. :wall: He spends on it and we pay it off or BT it and then he spends on it again! And he's very good at justifying it as well. :wall:
