They are really good, we have a pillow in our house that was mine as a child, and should really be thrown out, but keeps getting enclosed in yet another pillow case, so know the problem you have.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Hi gilly, thanks.
Have been really bad at updating here as so tired all the time, I've been working late shifts for about 5/6 weeks now which really isn't fair.
I've done the most lates out of all the people doing the same job as me by a considerable amount and when I counted it up another person in the same 5/6 weeks had done almost the same amount of early shifts as I'd done lates (so they've done literally no late shifts - some favouritism seems to be going on). The shifts are meant to be monitored so they are shared out fairly so I'm going to have to say something about it but really hate confrontation and don't know what to do.
Also doesn't help that I'm so new to the job.
Managed to cover the inner part of my heat pad with another layer of muslin and it's much better now. Thinking of making a circular one for OH's Gran for her birthday but stitching a dog onto the cover to make it prettier (as she loves dogs).
Had some friends over on Saturday night and made onion tart, twice-baked potatoes, baked camembert and marshmallow cupcakes. We were actually sensible and didn't drink so no nasty hangover the next day. :j
Watched the F1 with OH on Sunday and just chilled out - we hardly see each other these days as I'm always stuck working lates atm.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I understand your frustration over the shifts. My DS works shifts and seems to be getting an unfair share of weekend night shifts. From mid October to Christmas he has only 1 weekend off, while others get 2 or 3 in a row. He copied the rota and just showed it to the supervisor, who hadn't really noticed it was unfair, and he got an extra weekend off and a Friday too!

Hi again gilly, well I said to one of the supervisors about the shifts and he said he will look at it, so will just have to wait and see what happens. When you look at the numbers it's obviously very unbalanced so don't see how they could justify not trying to even it out a bit. It's so bad that other people in the office have noticed as well and said to me to query it.
Have been on lates since starting back on Wednesday and will be on lates until my next day off (Wednesday coming).OH is away to Aberdeen to visit his friend up there since I'm working anyway.
Still not started OH's gran's present but will do it on my day off next week as it won't take long.
Went down to see my sister and the kids at the start of the week and helped the boys make muffins. Was nice as always to see them, just wish I could see them more often. I got a lovely handmade card and some chocolates from my sister's neighbour to say thank you for making her daughter the star sock monkey, so that was nice as well.
We seem to be doing okay money-wise this month but still need to start putting money aside for factor fees again as were hit with a factor bill plus the block insurance bill at the same time. Could only afford to pay the factor bill and will have to pay the block insurance when we get paid next week. OH explained this to the factors but they still sent us a letter demanding the block insurance money. They just don't listen! They also said they will charge £20 if they "have to send another reminder letter" - £20 for a letter? Are they joking? They are hopeless when we actually need them to do something and then overcharge - can't wait until we can afford to buy a house and don't need to pay factor fees any more.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Just a quick update before heading to bed, today was the first of two days off then back to work on Friday for another 7 days. *sigh* Feeling very drained.
Went to Hobbycraft today with one of my friends and bought some wool and knitting needles to practice with before making my cushion covers. Still need to organise tutorials with my mum though!
Made some scones as had a craving for them last night, they were okay and rose a lot better than the last time I attempted them.
Managed to redeem points from MySurvey today for a £10 Amazon voucher and withdrawn £8 from Greenmetropolis from the books I sold and also £10 from panelbase survey site. Can pay most of that money to my Barclaycard when it arrives. Also got Ciao review money through (£5.65) so paid that off the cc straight away.
Going to save any Amazon vouchers towards getting something nice for both OH and myself at Christmas as a joint present - have £20 so far and waiting on a £15 Amazon voucher from Toluna which I ordered last week and they are taking their time with. Also have about £40 in Debenhams vouchers so will use that in the sales after Christmas towards a decent non-feather duvet since OH complains that our feather one aggravates his mild asthma.
Used the £50 in M&S vouchers we had last week to get OH some new shirts for work which was handy as well.
Nothing much else to report as all I seem to be doing lately is working. :eek:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
Just heading off to bed - only one more shift at work tomorrow and then off for a long weekend. :j Really need it as work is manic due to the horrible snow, I wish it would go away!
Got £40 of Tesco vouchers through today for Pizza Express as used our clubcard points before the points deal goes down. So that will pay for a nice lunch or dinner at some point.
Sold another book on GreenMetropolis so will have another £3 to pay towards my cc which is now under £200. :j Once I've paid it off I will start saving some money, hopefully towards laser eye surgery but should really check that my prescription is suitable first I suppose.
Didn't have time to make the heat pad for OH's gran so will do it for Christmas instead, should hopefully have enough time to get it done this weekend.
Have bought some more bits and pieces towards Christmas but only got a couple of finished presents and bits towards everyone else's.
Should really try to take the coppers and five pences I save up to the bank and deposit them as have about £17 which would be more off the cc. Also need to go to the library but it's hard to leave the house when I don't need to in this weather.Have been living in my wellies since last week.
Better go to bed as have been up since 5:30am. On a late shift tomorrow though so not an early start - just as well.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Hi Sashy, thanks for the tip you left on my diary. I'm sure you're sick of the snow, I felt like that last year...
Good to hear you sounding so organised for Christmas and that those cc's are on their way out :T Have a good day x0 -
Hi mac, no problems about the tip of adding sugar to make coke go flat - just thought I would pass it on as had never heard of it until last year when I had a bad stomach bug and my mum told me that's what they do in the hospital to make it go flat quickly (she's a nurse).
Had some bad news this morning when my mum phoned to tell me one of my aunts was being moved to intensive care. She went into hospital last week for a routine operation as hadn't been feeling great. My mum said the hospital wanted the family up asap and that she thought it was because my aunt was dying.About an hour and a half later she sent me a text to say my aunt was dead. Think I'm still in shock as it was so quick and my aunt was only in her early sixties.
Feel terrible for my mum as I know she is going to take it very hard as this was the sister she was closer to and in touch with more often than the others. She is still a mess after my grampa died a couple of years ago.My cousins are going to be devastated as only lost their dad a few years ago and one just had her second baby a few months ago as well.
So not a great start to my long weekend off work.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
Oh God Sashy, that's awful - I'm so sorry
Hugs to you and your Mum.
Hope they find out what was wrong with your Auntie. That's such sad news and before Christmas too, which always seems to make it worse....
Take care xxx0 -
((((hugs))))
That must have been such a shock. Hope your mum is ok.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
