Have been organised this morning and went out for a couple of things I needed. Am making chicken casserole with dumplings for dinner and brownies for after. Thinking of being more organised and doing this in advance.
My friend is meant to be coming round for a visit later and I promised her brownies so have to make them this afternoon anyway. Might just make the casserole at the same time so I can just heat it up when OH gets home. I think I could make the dumplings and just add them to the casserole when it's reheating - should be ok, although I've never done it that way before.
Horrible rainy day today but still clammy - hate this type of weather as it just makes you all sweaty - yuck.
Think OH and I will be going out later on a quick trip to Makro for toilet roll and yes - more meat for the cats. Greedy little furbags. :cool:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Made my chicken casserole and dumplings yesterday afternoon while waiting for my friend to come over then made brownies for us to munch. One of my cats stole a raw dumpling and tried to run away with it. It stuck to her teeth because it wasn't cooked - was it a bit mean to laugh before prying it out of her mouth and binning it?! I'm seriously thinking of getting a bank vault type gate to protect my kitchen from the thieving furballs. :rotfl:
Went to Makro last night and managed to get 32 toilet rolls for about £8! Was pretty impressed since I'm sad like that! Found Ox kidneys for 72p for the cats and some lamb hearts as well. Also went to Sainsburys for frozen chicken livers and tinned sardines for them. Haven't been able to find sardines in spring water anywhere else which is a bit annoying.
Was good last night and wrote a new review for Ciao, then found another one in my review folder that I'd forgotten about so can post that today. :j
Need to do a bit of housework today but other than that I'm at a bit of a loose end.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
All I've done so far today is put a washing on, iron() and clean out my kitchen cupboards. Boring but at least it's a bit more productive than usual.
Need to think about what to make for dinner later, maybe pizza. Again, nothing much planned for today and seem to be in a bit of a slump atm. Really worried about money but not much I can do, am trying to reduce our food bill by using as much as possible from the cupboards/freezer and trying not to go to the shops as much.
So, feeling pretty down about the usual stuff plus have been a bit broody recently as everyone I know seems to be having a baby or already has kids. We would need a house, a lot less debt and for me to be in a decent job with decent maternity pay before we could even think about having a baby.
Don't want to wait too long either though. Not even broached the idea with OH as he would be horrified. He says he does want kids but "just not now" - no idea of timescale. I think I'm thinking about this too much because I don't have a job to keep me occupied. Our fixed deal on our mortgage is up in two years and the majority of our debt should be paid off by then so we should hopefully be in a position to buy a house rather than another flat. That would be a better time to think about this stuff really.
Got the practice material through for the assessment day I'm going to soon and it seems ok. It's a concentration test and can be a bit tricky but I think I can do it - really just depends what happens on the day I guess.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Just having a quiet weekend and had a stroll over to Morrisons in the sun as we needed eggs and bread.
Was just getting the ironing board out to iron a couple of OH's work shirts before putting them away and my youngest cat freaked out! He hissed really loudly and his tail went all bushy and he ran away from it! I can only assume that he was scared because he's never seen an ironing board before.:rotfl: He's a 2yo cat - told you I didn't iron.
:rotfl:
Had my mum over for dinner last night and was getting her to show me how to sew hems and holes along seams as I'm rubbish at sewing. I taught myself how to sew on a button by using a YouTube video. So got a couple of tops and pairs of trousers fixed at the same time. :j

Think it's only fair to laugh at naughty furries sometimes! Better than getting cross with them too
Hope stuff for assessment isn't too hard to learn

Hi scooby, I've only just started ironing again after a 7 year break. Haven't had an ironing board since I left home until now and the iron we have is a wee cheap one that OH bought when he got his first flat (could do with a new one!). No wonder my wee cat was terrified. :rotfl:
My furries are naughty so frequently that all I can do is laugh - if I didn't I'd cry!One quite irritating thing that my young boy cat likes to do is chew clothes, especially beading or buttons - but only MY clothes when I'm wearing them. Apparently it's common for Siamese cats to do this but my oldest cat prefers plastic bags to chew on so we have to hide them all from her.
The assessment stuff isn't hard as such, it's more about reading the instructions properly, not panicking and trying to be as accurate as possible under time pressure. So, test day should be fun, since I'm a born worrier
Going to try and make rolls today as OH needs to take packed lunches to work more often to save money. I'm thinking of giving him a target of three a week to start with to get him into the habit and it's still saving money. Good thing is I can make the dough for the rolls in the bread maker then just have to prove and bake it, hope they turn out ok.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Oh dear - my rolls don't look all nice like they do in the shops!
They are rather brown and didn't rise particularly well either, think the oven was too hot and that the area they were proving in wasn't warm enough. Grr!
They're edible but a bit crunchy and not very impressive looking. :rotfl: Oh, well it's only the first attempt and I did halve the recipe as I had a feeling they would go wrong.
Have made corned beef hash for dinner and will need to go shopping tomorrow for more supplies. Think I will make another coconut loaf (love this site for finding recipes) and cookies to keep us in sweet things for the week, can also add them to OH's packed lunches.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Have been fairly organised this morning and went out early to get the shopping done. For some reason Asda decided to clear all their butter and marg/spreads from the cabinets so had to stop at Morrisons on the way back.
When I got home I did some cleaning and sorting in the kitchen and felt quite proud of myself. Think I will make cake and cookies later as feeling a bit knackered now after all my work.
Going out to my nephew's Sport's Day at school soon with my mum and sister. He likes to see us there and it's a lovely day as well.
When I was unpacking the food shopping my boy cat was so funny - he kept crawling into empty bags and waiting for the girls to walk past and then his paw would come shooting out of the bag to whack them. :rotfl:Don't think the girls were too impressed though. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Plan for today is to go to the library as have my books to return plus my nephew's books as well.
Got up at a decent time and had a shower, cleaned the bathroom and cleaned out the cat litter all before 9am. :j
Spent some time last night making coconut loaf and then some cookies from the Hummingbird Bakery book - they're good, very similar to Millies' cookies in that they're soft and chewy. The recipe said you should get 24 and I ended up with 16 but they are pretty huge ones.
Had a nice time at my nephews Sports Day and he came second in a running race so he was pleased. We went back to my sister's house and my younger nephew was out playing when he fell and grazed his knee - you would have thought he was dying from the screams.:rotfl:He insisted that he couldn't walk and was limping about and crying for ages (it really wasn't that bad) and he screamed in pure rage when he saw me laughing at him.
:rotfl:
My sister used to do the same, the more she cried and carried on, the more I would laugh and she would have a tantrum,"Stop laughing at me!" followed by ear-splitting screaming - which made me laugh more. :whistle:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
