Lol we have pictures of each of us as bairns in suitably 'us' states of being - NIM is holding his dog in front of his horse and has the hat, riding boots etc on, while I have a huge mixing bowl, wooden spoon, and chocolate all over my face and a very guilty look!
So sorry about your friend, that's awful that it was only one day, but maybe a blessing for him too that if it was that agressive he didn't have time to dwell on it.
Finally starting to get excited about the wedding (despite all the stress!). A week tomorrow I'll be Mrs NIM. Went and got my wedding underwear today, and its my final dress fitting tomorrow. Still a staggering amount to do, but feeling a bit more upbeat about it all. Maybe its the kilo of Hotel Chocolat Cocktail selection choccies I just inhaled.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Yey well done Wendz.
Just got the 'first' bill from the builder, and its pretty much the same as the full quote we were given before we hired him - AND we have to pay the sparky seperately. NIM says he'll talk to him but I'm not chuffed, especially given the job isn't finished!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hi all, it's been an awfully long time since I have dropped a line. Kind of fell off the 'careful finances' wagon and repenting at the moment. So I am sheepishly returning to say hi, to wish everyone well throughout their bad and good days and most of all to wish dinah and nim many congratulations and good luck not only on their special day but for a very long and prosperous future together. This is just in case I don't get to post nearer the big day due to returning my head to the sand!DEBT FREE SINCE SEPTEMBER 2015 :beer::beer:0

I don't want to jinx it, but I've just run my sums with a week to go, and it looks like somehow we might actually make the gold medal level of our wedding challenge - that is do all of it except the honeymoon on under £8500. Considering when I drew up the challenges I was looking at £16k for the wedding, and without really noticing it we've halved that nearly, that's brilliant.
Had an exciting morning touring carpet places. I got carpet malaise very very quickly - how am I supposed to have an opinion on roll upon roll of cream fluff?! However £330 later we have carpets and underlay for the guest room, the study, the landing, the stairs, and the craft room. Dad and NIM are confident they'll have finished decorating the study and guest room by the end of tomorrow and carpeted the craft room, and started and finished the hall, kitchen and upstairs bathroom by Wednesday. That'll just leave the lounge, landing and conservatory for my dad to do whilewe're away. And those are the rooms the builder hasn't finished with yet.
Still trying to sort out the £1700 'bill so far' from the builder, although it does include labour which it gave the impression it didn't, so to be honest its a bit higher than expected but not by much, and there is only about a days work left to do. So NIM needs to speak to him but it should all be fine.
Not had a good day family wise. My gran has dementia, but has remained fairly mobile despite thinking things like I'm my mum, and its April 2007. However the last week she's lost all mobility suddenly, can't get out of her chair, can't hold a tea cup etc, all things she could do 10 days ago. This morning she slipped off the bed and my grandad couldn't get her up - and she refused to get up as she says it hurts too much to move. Paramedics were out this morning to help him get her off the floor, her heart, bp etc are fine although she's dehydrated, but they offered to admit her to hospital if grandad couldn't cope as she literally is needing 24 hour care at this point, made worse that she sleeps no more than 2 hours at a time, meaning he doesn't get rest, and he's 80 and she's not a small lady so getting her to the bathroom etc is a real struggle for him. He said no as my very stubborn gran has thrown a fit in the past about going into hospitals - they'll send her to a home and she'd rather kill herself first. Fun things like that. However as the day has gone on she's gotten worse, isn't aware she needs the loo etc, so grandad is calling the paramedics again as he just can't cope and hopefully if she goes to hospital they'll be able to work out why she's gone downhill so fast in the last week. At any rate it will give my grandad some respite while they try to work it out. So anyone on here who believes in anything, please keep them in your prayers.
We ordered our bedroom set yesterday, basically everyone who has given/is giving us money for our wedding it has gone on this. We had to order it in advance as it is at Barker and Stonehouse and it's much reduced until the 30th - ie wardrobes are currently £599 but rising to £1335 again on the 1st. It's a lovely solid wood set although there may be a bit much furniture for the room. This is the one we've gone for if anyone is interested. Mentally spent about £30k in there yesterday, such lovely furniture! Just need the house to go with it. (Saw this for you Birdie)
Still LOTS to do on the wedding front, although getting there slowly. It's the rehearsal at the church tomorrow - which seems really wierd. Maybe then it'll seem more real to me.
Have £550 in cheques to cash (arrived early) which will nearly cover the £600 we paid up front for the furniture. We're due another cheque for £857 to arrive this week. And then I have my matched betting account, which has between £800-£1000 in just waiting to be withdrawn. Still have a little over £1300 to pay in wedding costs. And need to put £500 back into the bills account to last out the month for bills while we're away. So we're basically bang on where we need to be. Only issue is this damned builders bill. Maybe if I rub my heels together 3 times the money to pay that will appear?! If he hadn't got it to us before we went away it would be fine, as we've been told we're getting a few more wedding cheques, and on our next payday we'll have about £500 spare we could throw at it so we'd be nearly there.

No this is my list, mum has a similar one, and NIM is focussed on the house and the interview. Its a bit scary!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I hope your gran is ok. Your list is a monster. Good luck to NIM with the house (including your Dad) and his interview.
I will find out about mine some point this week. Bit of a werid interview as there was a chat at the end about why I didn't apply for one of the other roles instead as my skills matched. Basically got asked would I consider it if offered (no guarantees though). Didn't apply as didn't feel as though I had the right number of years experience but interviewer wasn't too worried about it. Will need to wait and see. They have 1 person left to interview for the three roles available. Just depends where their skills lie.0
