A Fake bake party sounds great Cinny! What does it involve? Does everyone get tanned?

Hi Tete - any word on the house?

I am well. My parents are over this weekend and we are all going to Lille on the Eurostar for free after getting stranded there at Xmas. I am spending far too much money at the moment but am trying to reign it in a bit. It all feels a bit out of control but hopefully having my parents over for a week will stop me buying things online :)

I need to work out a new debt signature as we have added more to our debt since having Max. Will do one soon :(

Hi CMD, no word yet, still putting our application together so I'm worrying someone will beat us to it, and even though the landlord said the cats were OK, what if someone else applies who doesn't have pets? They're a better option surely? Eep, don't want to get excited til we know it's ours!

Try not to worry about adding to the debt, babies are expensive! Could you sell bundles of Max's too-small clothes on ebay maybe? Enjoy Lille, think I might have stopped there once on the way to somewhere else, I had a waffle in the train station :D

I'm over at the new house today waiting for the delivery of our new bathroom. We got the tiles for it at the weekend, very exciting that finally things seem to be happening. Only problem is I have no food over here - all the microwave meals in the freezer are NIMs which I won't touch as they're yukky, so could be a long day!

My dad has taken a week off to work on the house. Sadly the first week he could get off is the one AFTER our wedding, so I think our deadline might have slipped somewhat!

Got a load more Tesco CDs for points, which I'm going to list today, and I was planning to list the remaining bits of house on ebay today while I sat about waiting - but I forgot my camera :( Going to write descriptions at least.

Moneywise things are a bit scary, everything costs more than I expect it to. Bathroom tiles were £180, I budgetted £100, bathroom itself was £690 I budgetted £500 etc. I didn't budget at all for things like curtains - but we spent about £250 getting curtains for all the rooms in the next sale on Saturday - plus another £90 getting NIM 3 pairs of shoes (one black one brown for work as his current single pair have a 3cm hole in, but because they're his only pair we can't send them to the cobblers, and one pair to be kept aside until the wedding day). We've also been buying in some basics for the kitchen cupboard, spices, flour oil etc, scarily we're up to £100 at this point and we still need some more bits. And this isn't even covering anything fresh or perishable!

Don't they say, make a generous budget, then double it!? Yikes, I can relate to that a bit though not on the same scale, I was thinking if OH and I both put £1k into a pot we should have enough to furnish a house, and even with getting a table and chairs given and already having stuff like TVs it still looks like it might be a bit tight! Been hitting ebay, but can't actually buy anything til we know for sure...

Even if your deadline is pushed back, as long as you have the main rooms done, the others can be done at leisure surely?

I'm sure they will give you first refusal but try and get the application together asap so they know you are serious. Our tenants recently asked us if they could have a cat and we said yes, so the landlord might be the same!

I don't want to sell any of Max's clothes because we plan to have another baby at some stage so if it is another boy we won't have to buy a thing, but I know my sister will probably try for a baby within the next few years and I want to be able to pass on all the stuff if it is a boy. It is a good suggestion though! I will add up all my debts and try to be sensible about paying it off this time.

Exciting stuff with the house! They are expensive things though and at times it does feel like a big black hole with regards money. At least when it is done, it is done and you can enjoy living in it when you pay back the money :)

Aye thats our way of thinking CMD - we won't care about spendng an hour an evening matched betting if we're sat in front of our lovely stove with nice polished wood floors etc to remind us why we're doing it.

Sparky has turned up to do some bits which I like as it means I can see things changing!

What's a fake bake party? Hope you haven't gone orange again youg lady!

Fake Bake is full of natural loveliness so you can't go orange ;) *ends fakebakesellingmode* My Mum did about 5 coats of it on my legs when she was training and I just went very very brown. Still keeping my fingers crossed over the house for you, I know you're trying not to get excited but it does sound really promising!

CMD - Yep, anyone who wants one gets a tan! And if the host talks 4 or more people into having one they get theirs free. Which is pretty good going!

Dinah - Hope you're not too bored today! Haven't you got any food at all?! I'd be curled up in the corner crying because I wanted some chocolate by about 11am. Sorry to hear things are costing more than you planned, but with things like bathroom suites and tiles it's not like you'll be having that expense again for years (or at least I'd hope not!) So it's worth while spending a bit more and getting things you really like, over things you feel 'meh, ok' about but are in budget. Hope that makes sense!

Lol I have never been one to go 'meh, its okay' - this is why my reach never quite extends as far as I want it to - but at least it makes me ambitious!

Realised I can help out by sitting on the stairs with my leg on a box and sand the banister and spindles. Went well for all of 20mins until I sanded through the crook of my thumb THROUGH GLOVES!

Bathroom man just called to say he'd be here by 11.30, so with a bit of luck NIM can run me home at lunchtime :D

Very sensible advice there about the suite and tiles Cinny! The house will be coming on in leaps and bounds soon, how exciting! It's true that they always cost more than you budget, anyone who's seen Grand Designs can tell you that! ;)

My manager had her baby on Saturday morning, a little boy. I went and bought some presents for him and they're sooooo cute I went all gooey and OH told me off! But how can you not get gooey over tiny sleepsuits and mittens and aeroplane spoons?! I think I must be getting more mothery as I was looking for baby clothes and picked up a really cute polo shirt but it was just a tiny t-shirt and was quite a rough fabric and I'm muttering, 'How can they get that on a baby with no poppers on the shoulder? I wouldn't want to squish him in there the poor bairn... and that's not a very comfy fabric...and there's no way I'll buy him the jeans to match, they're definitely too rough!' What's happening to me?! Looking forward to going to see them but I don't want to intrude as I imagine they'll be overrun with visitors right now, will have to find out when is good time to pop round and have a cuddle!
