Hi all,
Just back from my sisters wedding. It was a brilliant day. She looked stunning and the venue and crowd were excellent. It was the best wedding I have been to (apart from my own!).
60 guests stayed over for the 2nd night and the weather was so warm we stayed out on the veranda and sang along to guitars. Max was the perfect baby and slept through most of it
Money wise I am not doing great. Although I didn't spend on credit cards we have barely any money left over for the rest of the month. We will have to try and have a tight month. There always seems to be people coming over or birthdays etc. It never stops!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

That's annoying about the bed, but at least you'll be in by this time next week! It's a good idea to leave the men to the moving, let them do all the heavy lifting (as long as they know what goes where!) and then you can come in and do the prettifying when they've finished!
Yea does sound good when you put it like that. I have labelled all the boxes of where it is to go and obviously OH knows where the furniture needs to go.
Ideas would be appreciated though, i have said i will do some lunch for them all, but really dont know what to do. 10 men - all who eat LOADS!
Lots of stuff going on for you Dinah! Hope you manage to find some more ebay bargains soon.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
There's no need to only ever post money news Dinah, just keep us up to date with goss if you've got nothing to say money-wise, TBH most of it goes over my head anyway! The weekend sounds like it was productive, glad you enjoyed it, but not so glad your knee's not doing so well after it all!
Glad you're enjoying work Lulu, even more so now that you know you're getting a decent wage for it! Wish I was, I'm feeling the work blues at the moment, we're down to 2 in my office now and the other woman moans from the minute I arrive to the minute she leaves, it's doing my head in, I feel suicidal by lunch time! I'm also wandering round in a state of fear at the moment; I burnt my ear on my straighteners on Sunday (proper clamped it in there, it's burnt from the lobe to about 2 thirds of the way up! Sore!) then yesterday morning my car door swung back at me as I was getting out and smacked me on the mouth (fat lip!) so I'm waiting for the 3rd thing to happen to me and I'm feeling very nervous!
Ouch to the burnt ear! I got burnt years ago when a hair dresser was using a tongs on my ears. It was so sore. When the hair dresser was tonging (sp???) my hair last week for the wedding I was getting flashbacks!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Just got the quote from the builder. £1761. Which is about £100 more than I was hoping for, and it doesnt seem to include plastering the conservatory so that needs to be clarified. I do think that its going to add more value to the house than it costs though. NIM is going to email back and get some things clarified this evening.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Wow Dinah, you sound very busy. When will you have time to work when you go back? Sounds like everything is coming together though.
The wedding invitiations sound good apart from the mistakes, silly people! I got invited to a wedding reception for a school friend the other day. She didn't want to put her parents as inviting people to the wedding because they aren't together and so she put her and her fiances little girl as inviting us, so sweet! That wedding is in September too!
Flower - sounds like your OH has everything under control. We had two weeks without a mattress, was not fun! We are still waiting for sofas but should arrive while we are away so I have given them my sisters contact number instead.
CMD - the wedding sounds lovely and baby max sounds like he was an angel at the wedding! My friend who had her baby at the same sort of time as you was telling me the other day how apparently when she was on the gas and air she said 'wheres wendy?' and the midwife asked if she is usually with me when she is drunk as the gas and air has the same effect haha. I am proud to be part of the birth :rotfl:
We are on holiday in two days and are pretty much organised, just need to finish packing!0 -
What a shame about the invites, fair enough it was down to you to proof read them but to miss out 'soup'?!
Lets see what you're looking at on Etsy!
Your sister's wedding sounds like it was lovely CMD, did everyone coo over little Max?
LOL at Wendz's name popping up at your friend's baby's birth! That's really what you want to be known as by the baby- Mummy's drunk friend! So jealous of your holiday plans, have a good time!
Flower, I really don't know what is good to feed 10 men that won't break the bank! Maybe a giant pasta bake or something and lots of crusty break to fill them up with?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Stew. It can sit in the oven for hours and not change a jot. All men love it, its cheap as chips and filling, with lots of crusty bread on the side as Birdie says.
Just had a call from the surveying company - they're coming out hopefully on Monday to resurvey the property, so I need to speak to my dad, find out if he can work from home monday afternoon to take me to the house. Oooh or I think my mum was going to take the afternoon off as her PPA time from school as I'm at the hospital at 3pm, so I'll see if she'd be able to get back here/over there in time.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

They should refund us plus compensation for the issues we have to fix. Somehow though I think they won't find anything as it'll save them money! The other thing is we've started to do work to the house to dry it out, so the issues are nowhere near as bad as they were when we arrived.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Surely the right thing to do would be for them to pay for an independent surveyor, they obviously have a vested interest in the resurvey showing nothing!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
