Well done for getting the job Lulu, it might not be as bad as you're expecting? And it doesn't have to be forever! Try to keep a positive attitude towards it or it'll just seem worse!

Its reception in a care home, so the same as what im doing bank for now.
They told me on the phone its a full time position, except its not its weekends only. Its also really rubbish money and rubbish hours. They're trying to get me to take over work from other departments already, as i have experience in it before, but with no extra pay...god i could go on, but i dont want to talk myself out of it. Just was horrible, people just seemed rude and very unwelcoming. But like you said, i need the pennies, so will plod on...

Hmm it does seem like it was mis-sold to you! But it'll probably be easier to find another job once you're working as it looks better on your CV (I imagine) so keep looking!

I'm a total Dooyoo disaster at the minute, I have no idea how I'll get to 50k!

I have been working, i worked the last two weekends and two days during the week, at the other place, which is lovely and is the complete opposite of this place. This place may look better etc but its only on the surface. It was a complete different story. My "chat" which wasnt an interview, but sure bloody turned into one was at 10.30am and i didnt leave there until 1pm!! They basically told me one thing on the phone and got me down there and in the last twenty mins, after telling them everything about myself and doing typing tests etc told me it was basically a completely different job. Do you know when you feel like you're in the way? But it was them who arranged the time and date. Urgh i just dont get a good vibe from it.

Basically they built it up on the phone and were so excited to get me to go and meet them and look round etc and waiting until i said i was available and was definitely interested etc then broke the news to me that it was actually nothing like what i'd been told. Just feel like i've played into their hands to be honest and feel like i've been lied to. But i'll stop moaning now! xx

So why leave where you are now? Sounds like you'd be happier and its more hours

Oooh it does sound a bit rotten. I've had interviews like that but I haven't been offered the job because they're clearly just going through the motions as they've already chosen the person they want for the job. I feel like sending them an invoice for my wasted time! I went to one interview where the woman had my CV and covering letter on her lap but she obviously hadn't read either because she asked me stupid questions that were covered in my CV! I kept saying, 'Well, as I explained on the covering letter and in my CV, I don't have x experience but I've done a, b and c which give me a good background blah blah blah' It was so annoying, I felt like walking out halfway through!

I meant it's sometimes easier to find a job once you're in permanent work, not that you've not been working, I know you have but that's classed as temporary isn't it?

I'm not leaving where i am now. Its only bank so i only get work when i'm covering people who are off. Its not more hours. But yes i would be happier there. Im just taking anything i can get.

Yeah its bank, so only as and when. This is a permanent job, but just weekends, so dunno if it even counts. If i knew it wasnt even full time i wouldnt of gone for the interview because i've been getting weekend work. Ah well, its too late to complain about now i suppose. Just gotta get on with it!

Ah Lulu, sounds like a bit of a dilemma! All you can do is try it out and see how you go, it might not be too bad once you start there properly and if it is really bad you can always leave - try to think positively :)

I need a kick up the dooyoo too :o Too much work work to do unfortunately!
