  • Hi all, little Amber now seems to be getting a little better. We are trying to fatten her up as she has lost so much weight. She has always been danity (sp), she was only 17lbs at 13 months but has lost over a pound. Even thou she was slight she still had a little budda belly and boobies but they have now gone.

I have had a bit of a ding, I am going to withdraw £20 from the cash machine every Sunday and keep it in a tin. This will then be used as petty cash but when its gone its gone. If there is any left it will stay in the tin to be added to the following week and can go towards special occasions such as birthday night outs, wedding dos, etc. etc. etc.

Also OH is smoker and fags are cheaper at tesco if I buy 200 at a time so I have also done this and told him when there gone there gone. He now has to budget has fags lol. He is going to go and see the doctor about giving up, his idea. It has to be his idea or it just won't happen will it.

When we got married we couldn't afford to have all the bridesmaids we wanted so we just had children, two girls and a page boy. When I turned up to the church I had 5 new bridesmaids I didn't now about. My 2 sisters, SIL and 2 friends. Everyone knew but me. They paid for their own dresses, headdresses, flowers, shoes, ect. As you can imagine I cried, I was so touched. They had planned the whole thing right down to stealing a piece of the material to match the colour of the bridesmaid dresses.

Love the dresses Dinah and love the idea of having a different one for each girl. That is something I am thinking of doing (if I ever get married hehe).

Glad little Amber is on the mend ROTE. That is so lovely about the bridesmaids at your wedding as well, bet that really made your day.

Glad Amber is on the mend ROTE. It must be a huge relief.

How is the house going Wendz?

Love the car Dinah. We had a Jag as well. I couldn't resist it and after the wedding the driver brought us through the streets of Barcelona in it. It had the top down (think it was mark 5 or something). It was so nice though!

Good news about Amber ROTE, it's so scary when little'uns are ill.

I love the dresses Dinah, sounds like your wedding plans are coming along nicely :) Can't you get a veil from the same place you got your dress?

Annoying house seller but at least it's not too bad for you, if that makes sense! Just her causing issues!

I have been so busy with uni work, it's doing my head in. I'm on school placement next week though so I'm looking forward to that! Hope everyone is ok :)

It's good to hear that Amber is on the mend ROTE, she'll fatten up again in no time! What a lovely story about your bridesmaids too, so lovely!

LOL @ the Bridesmaid's Bulge Poddle! I'm a bridesmaid for my friend next year and she's adamant that all 4 girls wear the same dress but as we're all different shapes and sizes one of us is bound to end up looking awful, and selfishly I'm hoping it's not me!

Ah wow, that's exciting about the dresses. I love the idea of having different dresses to suit each bridesmaid (rather than the standard strapless icky colours and the inevitable 'bridesmaid's bulge'). One of my friends just asked all her 5(!) bridesmaids to wear their favourite black dress and got them all matching shoes - I wasn't sure about the black at first but they looked lovely! And it was very MSE!

Thats a nice idea, I'd ban black at my wedding if I could though - its summer and its a celebration wear a happy colour!

Suits. NIM still needs to order them but basically its a dark grey tailcoat with the square ends.

I'm picky about my veil, and the ones I've seen in shops so far are all net, and I want lace.

Thats lovely about your bridesmaids ROTE, what a lovely thing to do.

Tete that is a mean sense of humour! No homemade bling!

I've had an organised but expensive morning. Accidentally ordered some fabric on ebay, and another 2 of these as the 2 I have are crammed with all my crafty bits, and I'd like to finish the big tidy up of all my crafty stuff and get it all a bit more sorted. I then ordered 20 disposable wedding cameras with flash as I thought it was too good a price to miss.

I bought some stuff for the candy bar at the weekend. 2 of the ice cream glasses in each of clear, blue and green, and then the big plates in green and blue. Thought they were a good price, vintagey, and can be used afterwards. Bless him NIM was saying 'I know they're reduced and they are great, but have you worked out how much this is going to cost if we have 180 guests'. To which I looked baffled and he said 'honey, 180 times times £3.50 is £630, I just don't think we can afford them'! He thought I wanted everyone to have one each to have their sweets out of, not a few as serving dishes! He was so relieved when I cleared things up!

I've also been good this morning and rebooked my smear test, and booked to go to the opticians on Monday. My doctor says I seem to have developed an allergy to my contact lenses (they're in saline not solution so the likelyhood is the plastic is the allergy not the liquid!!) so we may find laser eye surgery is suddenly bumping new carpets on the priorities list.

The credit card has also rocketed up again this month, lots of weddingy bits, but also just me plain overspending, so today I'm going to do a form of self punishment and spend the day listing on ebay. Have 40 listings left to do to hit my target for the week, aiming to get 25 of those done today. I found a new sample double glazed little window in the shed, hopefully someone might spend a bit on that as they're really expensive new! I'm scared as once I order the bridesmaids dresses (about £250) and NIMs suit deposit (again about £100 I think) and the car deposit comes off the card (£100) I'd be suprised if we're not back to £1000 on the CC.

Despite everything I know about personal finance, I seem to have almost a block when it comes to balancing my spending, I just can't reign it in. I'm embarrassed even to admit to NIM sometimes things I bought, and I know thats not healthy. I always work harder at the extra income and we scrape by, but if I could just learn to not spend life would be a lot easier for us! I think I need to focus on getting this project going once I've got ebay cleared and these letters written, as not only would it equal extra income, but it would also take up a lot more of my time.

I have one of those organiser thingies, it's brill! Mine is packed with ribbons and mini ink pads! :)

LOL @ NIM getting panicked about the dishes! That'll be an example of men not listening in the first place!

I have had my summons for the smear test, it's like, 'Happy 25th Birthday! Now let us have a look at your hoo-ha!'. I wouldn't mind but I've already had 2 in the last 6 months!

Sorry you're struggling with spending, I think the problem at the minute is that you haven't got enough to distract you and it's easy enough to get bored and browse the web and find bargains that you absolutely need and you have to have something nice because you're fed up and in pain! (How's the physio going by the way?) It'll be good, as you say, once you get your project rolling so you'll have something to focus on rather than shopping!
