Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I signed up to this challenge a few weeks ago but haven't actually done anything about it until now. :o So today I'm trying something totally new - not just a new recipe, but something I've never eaten before - pigeon. (I think I've been watching too much Wartime Farm! ;)) I'm making pigeon pie from this recipe - I hope I like it, but the pigeons were so cheap it's not the end of the world if I don't.
Back after a very long break!

Made the Meatball sandwich with melting mozzarella and tomato salsa from Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Cookery course book last week.
Very nice but would use a different cheese to Mozzarella next time. Made plenty of meat balls and some in the freezer for another meal.

What a shame Lizling. It is so disappointing when that happens. I made hollandaise sauce from Nigella Lawson's How to Eat this week. It was delicious and much much nicer than any packet I have bought. It took about 20 minutes constant beating and used a scarey amount of butter so I don't think I will do it again unless it is a very special occasion. It did split on a couple of occasions but an ice cube whisked in straight away saved it both times.
  • Just cooked lasagne with cream cheese, bolognese sauce, mushrooms and spinache. Turned out really well.

Just made my own hummus for the first time so that I'd have made something new this week. Not bad at all, but it did take a surprisingly long time in the in the food processor.

I added a little bit of yoghurt to half of it, like in Nigella's recipe and left the other half traditional. The yoghurt's quite nice in it. Definitely one to try a few more variations of some time.

Oops found this thread whilst I really should be doing something else! I am having a go at Mutton Saag from Hairy Bikers Best Of British - bought some mutton at local food festival at weekend and this recipe appealed as I have all the other ingredients in store :)

What an awesome thread and a brilliant idea!! The problem for me is cooking something different would most likely involve having to spend money on new ingredients...

But I'll give it a go and report back!

I'm afraid I have to stick to the tried-and-tested this week; my current canine guest is very hard work - she's a JR cross, very elderly, deaf and incontinent, so I'm busy keeping the soggy newspapers picked up and replaced._pale_

Also my joints are very bad at present, which isn't helping.:(

Not to worry - Mary's going home Saturday, and my old mate Dylan will be coming to stay (greyhound x lurcher) so if I can get the joints moving without my screaming or swearing with the pain, I'll be back "experimenting" next week.:o

  • Instead of my normal sausage casserole i ave done this but in the sc, i did brown the sausages first in my george foreman :)
