Of course I'll share the recipes
I actually have a Google docs document entitled "Recipes I'd like to try" with recipes copied and pasted! Shame I forgot to copy all the URLs too
"Sweetcorn Fritters.
one tin of sweetcorn, one egg, one heaped tablespoon of flour. It works really well with SR flour but I used corn flour as I wanted to use it up. Start by blitzing the sweetcorn. I do this in the tin and then scrape any extra off the blades. Add flour, stir, then add egg and salt. Fry in oil"
- think I got this one from the Frugal Queen blog, but have seen it on the OS forums and also the cheap family recipes site.

Just made my first ever bread and butter pudding from the odds and ends of bread I had in the freezer and it's delish :j
The bbc recipe I followed didn't seem to have nearly enough of the custardy bit, so I had to make up a second batch of that bit. Also, I put the cinnamon in with the milk instead of scattering it over each layer of the bread, because that seemed much easier. All worked out fine in the end!
Think I'm going to need to experiment with some different flavours, since that seems such a quick and easy thing to make. Definitely a keeper.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j

Just wanted to say that is definitely Frugal Queen, I was reading it thinking "why does that sounds so familiar, even the exact wording? and I had read it on her blog the other day :rotfl:
Just wanted to say I made turkey escalopes for dinner and very very easy and nice they were. Googled it for recipe but actually didn't follow one in particular, just mixed up somne breadcrumbs with pepper & lemon zest (next time I would add more zest and some salt too), bashed the turkey breast steaks with a rolling pin til nice and thin, brushed with egg and the dipped in the crumbs and fried. Delicious with roasted parnsips, boiled potatoes, green beans and redcurrant jellyPart time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

The one pot Bacon Roast Chicken & Potatoes was gorgeous (a tad too hot will def reduce the 2tbsp chilli flakes to 1tbsl)
Any chance you'd share the recipe? I've searched through the thread, and even tried Googling it, but can't find anything similar, especially now you've mentioned the chilli.
Sounds exactly like the sort of food we could eat day in, day out.
I'm constantly trying to find new things to cook. Trying to keep an eye on my weight with Weight Watchers, and the easiest way I find of sticking to it is to come up with new and inspiring foods to keep me interested in cooking, albeit having to trim the amount of cheese I normally throw into most of my recipes!0 -
I've been on a roll the past week or so1 I've made a tomato pasta sauce I'd never tried before and it was amazing (great for using up wrinkled fresh tomatoes!), along with a stirfry sauce and tonight I am going to attempt to make a pumpkin and coffee cake from the remnants of the Halloween pumpkin. I roasted and pureed it last night, so I'm hoping it should be fairly straightforward to make the actual cake now. Looking forward to trying it!0

Here you go:
Bacon Roast Chicken & Potatoes
6 chicken thighs
6 chicken drumsticks
12 rashers streaky bacon
salt and black pepper to taste
1 onion, coarsely chopped
675g baby new potatoes
Seasoning Mix:
2 tablespoons dried chives
2 tablespoons dried basil
1 tablespoon garlic granules
1 tablespoon chilli spice blend
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1.Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
2.Wrap each chicken piece in a rasher of bacon, trying to cover as much of the chicken as possible. Place the wrapped chicken pieces in a 20x30cm baking dish, season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle the onion over the chicken. Push potatoes down into the spaces between the chicken pieces and around the edge of the dish.
3.Combine the chives, basil, garlic granules, chilli blend and black pepper in a small bowl, and sprinkle the seasoning to taste over the chicken and potatoes. 4.Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, until the bacon is crisp and brown and the potatoes are tender. Sprinkle with salt, if desired, and serve hot.
I only used 1/2 chicken as only hubby and i for dinner kids were out0 -

North African-style veg stew from the Veg Everyday cookbook this weekend. Except I made it with potatoes, lentils and yellow peppers instead of squash and whatever else was meant to be in it, because that’s what I had in. I also doubled the amount of ginger and added some harissa and generally didn’t follow the instructions, so not sure that I can really say it was from a book at all!
It was pretty good though as well as nice and healthy. I’ll definitely make that again. I think it’d be nice with sweet potatoes.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
