I bought some reduced pork fillets today, not something we often have. Any suggestions?
I was thinking of Delias Pork Stroganoff but I do seem to have a minor Delia fixation.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Not an entirely "ne " recipe for me today, but I did a re take on a stuffed pancake recipe that I last made over 25 years ago.
OH wants liver & onions tommorrow, so I'll be having a look at Marguaret Patterns "victory" cookbook I got from Matalan a couple of weeks ago, and see if there is anythin I fancy to go with it.It matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

I am doing my best at menu planning, using the storecupboard challenge, and trying to use what I have before I buy more. Sometimes I have to buy the odd item to make something up, but so far doing quite good. Made a load of leek and potato soup (both were very cheap at Aldi-added a bit of grilled bacon to give it some zing!) Made a Moussaka from an old Somerfield mag-it uses beef mince,. Topping is greek or thick yoghurt mixed with an egg and a bit of cheese. The trick is to shake some cinnamon and nutmeg over the yoghurt mix before you add cheese and the taste and smell from the kitchen is fantastic! You can cook a load and freeze some, but this always seems to get eaten quickly! I'll see if I can dig the full recipie out if anyone wants it. Baked potatoes are a good standby- Had some last night with a tin of salmon and sweetcorn and home made seafood sauce-tomato ketchup and mayonnaise. Add some toasted ciabatta with a drop of oil and balsamic and an exotic meal for next to nothing! And I make my own potato wedges-so simple and saves a fortune! I'm just going to see how much this all saves me when I tot up the food bill at the end of the month!0

There is also various vouchers, articles and offers. Every so often you get a freebie which is like a mini cookbook. This month had one showcase the new masterchef book
Thanks for your reply. I haven't done it yet as keep having the same 'argument' with myself...will I read the magazines when I have them or will they just take up space?! I won't use my vouchers any other way so seems a good idea, but then will I read them...oh dear. Decisions, decisions!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Yes please to the Moussaka recipe if you can find it, the topping sounds great-love anything Greek
You have been very busy with all your cooking :T
I have made Stovies tonight for the first time - never eaten them either - but had taken some roast lamb out of freezer for OH's lunch sandwiches tomorrow and thought I would give it a try after seeing the recipe on the Grocery Challenge thread.
Very easy and smells and tastes lovely. Kitchen very steamy as also boiling a chicken carcass for stock and using some of the chicken to make pies......did the chicken last night in slow cooker and we had some for tea tonight and loads left.
Enough for one night methinks....off for a sit down and browse through MSE0 -

I find i didn't tend to search online much and find the magazine more inspirational. I read them and then when my next one arrive (I have a subscription as its a great xmas present for someone to get me!) I cut out the recipes I like and put them in my recipe book. A cheaper alternative might be sainsbury's magazine. That £1.40 a month and has always a full page of vouchers. It has less recipes but has more articles so it feels more like a women magazine.2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback

Hi all,
I am fairly brave and cook at least one new thing every week, mainly because I get really bored of eating the same things. I usually use recipies from books, Sainsbury's etc recipies cards, websites, suggestions from friends, looking at what is on offer that week for my grocery shop.
This week I made for the first time - steak and ale pie, banoffe pie (sp?), & chicken and spinach curry. The pie was YUM but I had to make the filling and freeze it and didn't realise it took so long in the oven and the banoffe pie was so simple (crushed ginger biscuits, chopped up bananas, toffee sauce and whipped cream in layers.
I always menu plan each week as I find it makes it easier for me to do the weekly shop and means no leftovers. I am also lucky that myself, my boyfriend and our lodger will eat anything0 -
I made Haggis Pakora for the first time last night. I got the recipe the Waste Aware Love Food site. Really nice
