My first new one was a blue cheese gravy with pork chops (although I had no regular cream so had to use creme fraiche-it was delicious :D)
(I know its not from a cook book, but its new!) Have lots of new recipes planned for January though (do magazines count?)

Love Jamie Olivers balsamic onions and spuds...

Goodness I really must try and use my collection more :D

Nice, looks a bit like mine but I don't have Tender (Nigel Slater) or How to Drink yet - they are both on my amazon wishlist. I have all the other Nigel Slater books, Tessa Kiros, Diana Henry and a few from Hugh but only 1 Nigella (Express).

    • Type what you want to insert the link into (in this case parsnip soup).
    • Copy the link that you want to insert.
    • Highlight the "parsnip soup" text.
    • Click on the little blue "world" icon above the text box
    • insert the link into there.
Thanks have been wondering how to do that.

  • I made Haggis Pakora for the first time last night. I got the recipe the Waste Aware Love Food site. Really nice :D

www (dot) wasteawarelovefood (dot) org (dot) uk

    Ace site Chris, thanks.

I made the Lemon and Garlic Chicken last night. They have the recipes on an iPhone app, so I downloaded it and followed the recipe on the app in the kitchen.

And, I have half for lunch today, so I can put my £3 lunch money aside for a pint tonight!
  • OH & I have a lovely big stock pot of beef stew simmering on the hob as I type. In true challenge style, I made it mediteranian with some soaked harricot beans and 2 jars of mediteranian tomatoes I got from Approved Foods. The taste samples suggest it will be as good as it smells

Am going to make some chocolate chip and almond praline cookies (this will be my new recipe for this week) for the OH later on today. Wont be able to eat them as i have given up biscuits for lent but want to start making my own cookies so the OH does not buy them from Mr Ts.

EDIT - made some yesterday and they came out quite well though should have taken them straight out of the oven after they were done. With a bit more practise im sure ill convert the OH.

I've at last ordered my token thingy for the good food magazine, so will look forward to that arriving :D

Tonight I am making this which is one of my new recipes for the week/month. Tomorrow and Sunday are also new ones as well. I'll update again when i've eaten them :p

Edit to add: - tonights was lovely and so quick to make (timed it just right to eat during Eastenders :p). I didn't use carrots and substituted the sugar snap peas with green beans. Excuse the photo, I only have my phone and it doesn't take very good pictures.

  • Another new recipe for me today! I bought Marguaret Patterns Victory Cook book in Matalan some weeks ago and fancied making "Floddies" to go with lunch.

Thank heavens for the internet - the recipe in print did not make sense! They were brill

There are so many possible variations to this it could become the savory version of twinks

    Hi all

I use bbc.co.uk/food almost every evening, type in a couple of items into the search engine that we have in the fridge and get a new receipe. No need to buy a shopping list of items - choose a receipe around what you have got!

    Happy cooking!
