Still here guys but im afraid I am suffering the usual single person dilemma - a full freezer from all my earlier adventures :D Money saving of course but frustrating when I want to try new things all the time. Have also been treated to some wicked take aways this week so not really on plan.

Tonight its the next to last portion of the kedgeree so I intend to cook something different this weekend. Good to see most of you are doing far better than me:o

So back to the books for me - planning needed

Mmm. Made this tonight and it's lovely. I did burn one side slightly as wasn't sure the inside was hot, but apart from that it's yummy! No photos as doesn't look that nice, but will definitely make it again. So simple and used leftover salsa and chicken, so pretty cheap too.

  • I am going to try to make one new recipe a week - I know I won't get round to any more than that.Tonight's is Jamie Oliver's macaroni cheese. Have prepared it all ready to go in the oven later. Looks nice- hope it tastes good!

I'm not allowing myself any new cook books for now- I've got plenty, it's just a case of trying to use them more...

    Hey guys
I'm back on the soups this week as I desperatly need to lose weight!! So next week is this and for a main meal this week I'll need to see what needs using in the freezer and then plan something round that.

Ah but there's no law to say that we can't use a recipe as a basis and work around it according to our taste and means... Call it cheating maybe, but this is how fantastic new recipes are born. Here's hoping, anyway. :p

i like your style quasar! ;)

i'll probably do this as well, to be quite honest it's a very rare day indeed i follow any recipe to the letter, however i too use them as a guideline and substitute things that need using up for things they ask for in the recipe with about 90% success rate so i'm happy to try this challenge as well as long as i can use it to get rid of some of my stores

i got a slew of new recipe books back when marks was having their book sale with all the discounts etc and so far i've only made two recipes from it so i think this challenge will be good for me :T

Ok, my charity shop expeditions have yielded two further cookery books I had completely forgotten about and they sound interesting:

    The Joy of Cooking
    Radiation Cookery book

oddly enough i've heard good things about both of those books, don't suppose you'd be willing to post the barley cream soup recipe would you? i'm a big fan of barley and have a few bags that need using up!
