sorry forgot to post yesterday, but i did make cicken and ham pies from a kids baking book that i bought youngest for christmas, and i also made a kind of tattie soup in my slow cooker...2 new ones for me,will post the pie recipe later if i have time before work.
Would it be possible tp post our recipes elsewhere,im worried loads of new recipes are gonna get lost in the replies(already at 8 pages),or should we post our recipes in a different colour or something so they are easy to find?

I guess we should just ask them to go into the recipe collection (dont know who manages that now) which is great but this thread.............and i may regret this ...........I will work on putting a link to the recipes into my first post if the BGs dont mind.

As the children and I are all at home today, I hadn't planned a meal, and awaited inspiration :o I'm making this vegetarian gratin for supper (I wanted something meat-free after the Festive Excesses ;) ). I've used veg from the garden that DH dug yesterday, and was more than we needed :T

I'll report back later to say how we liked it :D

I've really enjoyed looking back through cookery books, too!

    Penny. x

oooh I haven't done this recipe for years! It's so delicious.
I'm behind with this challenge but not to worry, I'll do 2 recipes in the next weekicon7.gif. Really loving reading all your recipes and descriptions. Yum.

I'd like to join you all on this, i set out with a new years resolution to make at least 2 meals a week from scratch and to meal plan. This will fit in nicely with these.

I too buy cookery books, look at the pictures and think 'if only' then put them neatly in a cupboard, same with magazines. We tend to eat the same things each week and i have had enough, i want to lose weight too, so this will be a good challenge.

I made a quiche yesterday with mash, and today i made pasta with ham and leeks in a white chesey sauce ... it was rather nice

I have done my meal plan for next week already and will be making a sausage casserole for the first time, i found the recipe scribbled on a bit of paper.

After seeing this will probably make it in a couple of weeks

I did it! The corn cakes were super delish, sadly the avocado was slightly underripe so it was crunchy avocado salsa :rotfl:

There were no ribs and I had a portion of turkey crown in the freezer so used that. It definitely needs to be marinaded, I was home late and threw it all in and baked. A bit too much lime but very nice.

At some point we will be having corn cakes with avocado salsa with jerk spiced ribs. Now I must remember to get the ingredients shopping tomorrow instead of the usual

Evening all. Not actually cooked from a new recipe but have made veg soup (carrot, potato and onion), just made potato and leek soup and tonight instead of my normal stirfry with soy sauce I made it with garlic, 6 spice seasoning and honey. It tasted very nice. DD2 was actually picking at it, doesn't normally touch it!
Today in Mr S I got some reduced fish, haddock, cod and salmon, put it in the freezer to make a fish pie on Saturday, once I find a recipe! I also got 2 duck legs (price cut £3.99 to £1.99) Tomorrow I'm going to make duck and potato in the slow cooker with veg. It's not exactly a recipe but I've never cooked duck before. Will tell the girls it's 'meat' until they have eaten it, otherwise they won't!
Lots of good recipes on here which I will 'steal' and try, will maybe make the corn cakes to go with the fish pie, tempt the girls with the sweetcorn!
Need to sort my life out! :T

I'm going to try this next week, but will be using a tin of cannellini beans in place of the chickpeas (used my chickpeas last night and the cannellini beans have been in my cupboard for ages!) and will blitz a tin of tomatoes with some chill flakes for the sauce. I'll make the leftovers into the shepherds pie suggested on the recipe for the following night. So, two new recipes next week...kind of :p
