Can I join too, please?
Been reading this thread and now gonna take the plunge - I have over 40 cookery books that are ornamenets on my kitchen shelves - they get looked through and drooled at but very few new things make their way onto my plate2 dd's are so fussy when it comes to new foods, don't like sauces very much
My 2 sons are fussy at trying new meals - they are OK with individual ingredients but if I suggest x they turn their noses up so I make an individual portion for me (rest in freezer if poss) and then eat it on the occasions where we have different things. You can bet they are asking questions and fetching forks before I've eaten the second mouthful and that usually means it becomes part of my repertoire
Off to check what to do for next week - meal plan done for this week!!Anywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!0 -

OK so my new recipe today is a slowcooked carrot and honey soup - was in Asda last night and bought tons of carrots for 30p - there must be about 2kgs here! Due to the snow, no-one had gone shopping! Bad time to have a full freezer :-(
Anyway this is what I 'm cooking today for lunches the rest of the week :

Morning everyone from a very snow bound warrington:D
Great to read so many fantastic new recipes on here you are keeping me motivated to move away from the chilli at last. (confession though i did make a small one on Monday to use up some stuff in the fridge)
Anyway update for me is that due to the extreme weather conditions here - took me 2 hours to be able to get the car off the drive this morning - I didnt make it to the fish market yesterday but this morning I ventured to my local asda where to be fair they had a really good selection of fresh fish. I got a piece of tuna and a lovely big bag of mixed seafood (massive prawns mussels squid etc.) Cost was quite high to be honest £2.50 for a me size tuna steak and £3.95 for my seafood  but it was too dangerous to head to town so I am balancing it with my thruppence 'apenny chilli i made on monday.
So tonight Matthew I am planning Seared Tuna Steak with James Martins Spring Onion Potato cakes and fried egg (should be duck egg but strangely asda were all out of those must be panic buying I guess;) I will post the recipe as there seems to be no link anyway and Penny will shout at me if I dont so next post will be the recipe.
With my bag of seafood I am planning to find at least 2 new recipes one for a seafood pasta thing and one for a seafood chowder which I will sort tomorrow.
Update so far then
Jamies Balsamic potatoes and onions with Roast Pork DONE!
I will report back tomorrow with my first venture into fresh tuna:D0 -

We do a lovely seafood pasta. Gently fry onions/shallots and garlic in olive oil. Add a glass of white wine and the seafood. Finish with the double cream. It's a bit of a luxury for us but tastes yummy with fresh bread and salad.

That's a basic recipe with just mussels. Seafood and pasta would also go great with just creme freche/soft cheese.
I'm going to try this challenge too. I love reading cook books but I don't tend to cook from them. I don't follow any recipes really but get inspiration. Going to try change this!December GC £23.43/120 :T
