Shameless cut and paste from The Matrix (sorry if you have already read it)
They rung yesterday to inform my DH that he has the job :j:beer::j:beer:
Turns out that after all the interviews on the day, the manager found out that one of her staff had handed in her notice creating another vacancy and as DH had done so well in the interview they wanted to give him the job :T
So just references and CRB to get through - CRB no problem but reference from work
So this will be an interesting time for my DH as he used to work with offenders by supporting them to change behaviour and integrate into society and now he will be working with older people in sheltered accomodation.
Not sure of start date but they are hoping for him to start before CRB is back and he can learn the system and shadow people. Current employment does not end until begining of May so perfect timing.
Thank you ladies on here and also to the Universe for providing.:T
I do think this was meant to be as the town his schemes are in is the town I work in which means we can carry on car sharing thus saving petrol like we used to. (The one down the road would not have been too bad as he has a truck and it is not far but my god it uses diesel )0 -
Excellent news, must feel like a weight has been lifted, its good that you can car share as well a bit more money saving.0

Well things in the Elephant household never go smooth .....
DH got his pack from the job with all the paperwork to sign - and inside was a note to say that 2nd part of the job which she offered to DH he can't have until she has advertised internally  but if no one wants it they will notify him later this week so fingers crossed.
So if he does not get the 2nd part of the job he will only do 10 hours  which is not enough to live on.
Also he has had to fill in a health questionnaire and they ask about sickness for 3 years (not the usual 1) so he has had to declare his 3mths off work when he was first ill with his head before they sorted the meds - fingers crossed they are fine with this
DH is not doing too well mentally, he stayed away from the house all day yesterday - he was up our field so work did get done but it was not urgent stuff. I knew something was up when he came home and he said he did not want to come home as then he had to face his situation  but he did say he had been thinking about it and realised he had ruined everything and he has no future
I am not sure why he cares now as he has been in debt for years :rotfl:
I also think maybe I am too controlling - I mentioned to DH about getting a pre-paid card to have as his spends so he did not have to touch his wages. I had checked Martin's guide and also mentioned about fees etc.
Nothing more was said but DH sorted out a pre-paid card which has some monthly fees (I know there are some where you just have a one-off fee) and when I asked why he had ordered it without checking the fees he said he wanted to sort it before I did.
I'm not sure if this is a new thing for him but too be honest he has rebelled against everything I say or do for a long time so I am not sure if it was just an excuse as in the next breathe when I told him he had to send letters to his creditors he said can't you do it :rotfl:. I said that was not what he wanted as he would only rebel and if he saw his financial statement he would take it more seriously than if I told him what to do (thanks to DFW for mentioning this). We can't go to Payplan or CCCS as he does not have any spare money to offer so it will be token payments all the way.
Things are really tight at the moment and I have not had enough money to pay my Barclaycard bill - I have however paid for 3 weeks of acupuncture which is not far short of my Barclaycard bill
Hopefully this months wages will last for 1.5 mths so I can actually cover my own bills.
Hopefully DH's Natwest account will be opened soon but if not when his wages go in at the end of the month I will move them to my account so his current acc can't take them to pay his debts :eek:0 -
Popping back!
What a pain about the reduction in hours. Fingers crossed that nobody takes up the second part of the job internally. It's not too long to wait to find out, fortunately.
I don't think you are too controlling of him, you're trying to control a situation that has the potential to get out of control. Not the same thing at all.
There is also a saying about cake and eating it....your OH can't say you take over and then want you to do the bits he doesn't
You're not shutting your eyes to anything, that's admirable not a flaw. Things will come right and hopefully, that will happen this week with confirmation about the rest of OH's hours.
Chin up!

hi EE i hope he gets the extra hours. So if he has his pre paid credit card does this mean that his wages are going to a different account that he won't touch now (so you can help him?)
And i agree with everything Piq says you are not controlling you are trying to control a situation before it completely spirals out of control!
