Sorry for being MIA, it's been a hectic week.
DH is very poorly, not mentally (although this is not great) but physically. DH only has 1 lung that works properly due to previous illnesses including pneumonia. He has had a cough for about 4 weeks now and he has been ringing the GP regularly and they have just said its viral even though it is a hacking cough which sounds like he smokes 50 a day.
At the end of last week he started having problems breathing especially at night and on Saturday morning (just after I posted) I woke him up ready for the day and his breathing was so bad I called 111. We went off to A&E and they triaged us to see a GP (so as not to count towards waiting times) and they decided that he has this virus causing a cough and now it has affected his throat but they cant do anything and he just has to remember that no matter how bad it feels that he can't catch his breath he won't stop breathing because his throat wont close up.
On Sunday things got worse and he started passing out each time he coughed, the 1st time was scary and he came round pretty quickly. I checked NHS website and it said that too much coughing can cause fainting and as long as he comes round within 1-2 mins then you don't need to ring 999.
By Monday he was still passing out so he didn't go to work (I was going to drive him as I wont let him drive due to the passing out) but he was quite poorly and his head pain was back (probably due to all the coughing) so he stayed home. I went to work but by mid-afternoon had not heard from him and was worried he might have fallen downstairs or banged his head so went home from work to find him sound asleep. He had still been passing out so called GP and they told him to go to A&E so we spent the evening at A&E and they did loads of tests and decided that it was not his heart or lungs and there was nothing to do apart from to stop coughing!!!
He was not well still by Tuesday and his boss arranged an appointment which his own doctor and DH was seen as a temporary patient that afternoon. That doctor thinks DH has a lung infection and reduced airways on one side so prescribes antibiotics which DH has been taking but is no better so we have been back today and they have done blood tests - they are concerned about whooping cough and other things. We have also been to the hospital today for an x-ray on his lungs.
By Weds he had lost his voice and the GP today says he has damaged his voice box from too much coughing.
So in between trying to sort DH out and having to watch him bath and get to the bathroom I have been working, taking and collecting DD from school (broke up yesterday luckily), walking the dogs twice a day and sorting the chickens as well as trying to do housework.
Yesterday I have started with a cough, I am never ill so I know it must be a bad strain, I am self-medicating with honey and lemon (as is DH).
Today is my son's 21st and he is still at Uni, we collect him tomorrow which is why I am working from home today so I can rest enough to be well enough to get him as DH cant drive due to the passing out still.
Honestly my life is crap at the moment and of course the whole splitting up has not been mentioned again, well how can you when he is so ill.
So I will continue to bide my time and just smile sweetly for now.0 -
Oh no what a dreadful time you've been having
. I hope that DH gets better soon and that you don't catch whatever it is.
I hope your sons enjoys his 21st birthday.

Hope that you get some respite soon EE.
Try to take it one day at a time, and look for any positives or simple things that can lift you, even if it’s just the chickens and turkeys etc scrabbling around at your feet.
Be good to yourself, and when you feel stronger and dh is over the hurdle you can reassess your situation.
(But you cannot just grin and bare it for ever!)
Hugs and happy birthday to DSWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Crikey EE you're having a rough time of it! ((hugs))
Try to take it as easy as you can, although that sounds easier said than done
Hope things start to improve soon, and that you don't come down with whatever IT is, and in the meantime just take it a day at a time, getting as much rest as you can - not easy when DH is in the state he's in. XI Believe.....
