How disappointing about the mortgage. Seriously disappointing that the broker didn't bother letting you know. Glad you got some support in the end though via this site.

  • Sorry about the mortgage EE. Sucks.
I got our mortgage through L&C as recommended on here and found them really helpful. At least you have a plan to go with though. 6 months will fly by.

  • Sorry to hear you've been messed around EE. The mortgage broker must know how important this is to you - why can't these people at least call back!

Hope the car doesn't work out too expensive.

Boo to the mortgage broker keeping you hanging on :( Glad you finally got some good advice from here and have a plan.

Hope car doesn't cost too much.

  • Thanks everyone for your comments.

The broker I was dealing with is the same one as CCL had a good experience with. I guess it is luck of the draw who you get and how they treat you.

At least I have found a nice one now and in less than 24 hours had looked into my case and was honest with me. (Previous one has been dragging on since November) I know there is a fee to pay but his company only charge the fee once they have secured you a mortgage so nothing to pay yet.

No time to sort the budget yesterday but DH is aware we have a budget 'talk' coming up!!

DS' GF seems to be doing ok, I was texting every day and then thought that was too much so yesterday I didn't text but have text her again this morning - can't believe it was a week ago.
The problem is I haven't seen her face to face so not sure how she is coping mentally - hopefully she knows she has people who care and can open up to us.

I am trying to help her sort long term contraception and quite honestly it is a nightmare - the family planning clinics are only open during working hours and the evening clinic is only booked up 48hrs ahead so she called on Fri to be told that they don't offer appointments (this is after I had called the day before to be told how it works as GF has anxiety and does not like using the phone). I then called them 45mins later (I was in an appt at work) and they told me they were fully booked!! Aarrgghhh!!

I think we will go to a drop in clinic during half term as GF works in a school and I will take a days leave from work to go with her - she has asked me to go with her as support and I will feel happier if she has some longer term contraception than the pill.
  • Wowsers - this weekend has flown by. I really need a 3 or 4 day weekend to fit everything in!!

Have brought YNAB up to date but need to spend some time on it as it says my personal bank account has -£45 in it when I actually have £200+ (there are no pending transactions).

Haven't yet had the 'talk' with DH but will do this week.

Have managed to get 5 loads of washing done this weekend including a load of towels and our bed linen which manly dried outside and just aired for a few hours this evening - I am so pleased, this is my first time of hanging out in 2017!!
    Simple things!!

Hope DS GF is ok. At least she knows you have been trying to get in touch. Crazy they wouldn't get her into a doctors.

  • Clearly my post on 5/2 was too positive about the washing - my washing machine is now faulty!!

I have thought for a few weeks that it hadn't been spinning properly so I read the instruction manual and it said that a spinning problem was never a fault and always to do with an uneven load. I checked the manual to make sure we had been cleaning it correctly etc and it made no mention of the pump.

Well the pump is now blocked and we are unable to undo the pump door and using pliers has snapped off the grip handles. We watched some Utube videos and these indicate it should just turn and further reading indicates that there is likely to be something blocking the pump door if it won't undo.

Have wrung the washing out by hand (not easy when it is towels) and have booked an engineer visit but that is not until next Thurs so no washing for me then!!!

So with this and my car what will the third thing be???

Best not send any money to debts yet until we know the final bill.

Hope that the 3rd thing is only a small thing, or perhaps the mortgage guy was the first and the car second etc.
I am sending you my positive vibes for a good outcome. I alas can't do much more than that at the moment.
