10 years is old in tech terms, things move on so fast. If you use it a lot then you'll have to bite the bullet unfortunately
However, you could get a laptop cheaper, could you cope with that instead of desk top?
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Have a look at http://www.tier1online.com/ - they refurbish office machines. I've had a laptop and a desktop from them and been very pleased.0

The bullet has been bitten and I am typing this on my new PC!!
DH brought it from his bank account as he seemed to have spare money this month (well he would as he earns more in his new job) - I told him it can be my anniversary present which is next week!!
He said he didn't mind because my computer is my life (I think he's worried if I didn't have it I might want to watch TV and then he couldn't!!)
SunAddict - I don't think I would cope with a laptop long term, I had one before and I only did MSE and blogs on it and still used a PC for word, excel etc.
I am on committee's and do minutes etc and I have always found it easier on a PC.
Caz - Thanks for suggestion. Shame I did not see this earlier as it looks like a great website.0 -
Eager_Elephant wrote: »Hi reality,
I do have a slow cooker but trying to cook a meal we can all eat is a nightmare.
I only eat meat we rear and don't eat gluten, DH can't have onions and DD can be a fussy eater.
I used to do stews for DH, DS and DD and then I would have something different but now there are only 3 of us I would rather do something for us all.
I love casseroles/stews but the only gravy I can have his Bisto Best Onion which of course DH can't have and one of the only gravies he can have is Bisto.
I could do chilli/spag bol but we don't rear cows so would have to do a veggie one and that only tastes nice if you add onion.
No cooking is going well although I was craving proper food so did a roast on Saturday and Sunday!!
And this week is half term so DD and DH are not having hot meals - last night I was poorly so went to bed and tonight I have done curry using left over roast meat.
For the rest of the week I will just go back to beans/egg on toast etc.
Reading that I don't blame you!! I'd have given up on meals long ago :rotfl: xxStarting debt £18,675.63

I have to sort out my computers as I bought a tablet size HP and it's useless for me. I want a computer at work so I can do the business stuff at work and stop doing it at home. I will take a look at the link! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

Just popping in to say hello now I have found you, hopefully nothing else will go wrong now you have had 3 things go wrong0

Day off today - took DS' GF to sort out contraception and then this afternoon washing machine repair was booked in!!
My washing machine is all fixed - Yay!!
Let the washing commence!!
Best of all - it was free!!! I thought the 5 year guarantee was for parts only and we would have to pay call out of £99 but turns out the guarantee is for labour as well.
No bill for car just yet so today should be a NSD!!
Out of the blue the original mortgage broker has called - it's only been a few weeks since he didn't call me that evening. His excuse is that he was busy over Xmas and evenings are not convenient for him so he thought he would just call to start the process.
I told him that I did not want to pursue a mortgage with him at this time as I didn't actually believe we would get one due to DH's new job being so new and also his debt. Mortgage broker claims we would get one.
Anyway that is the end of that saga as I will be sticking with the lovely guy off here for a mortgage in the future.
Also forgot to say that I was picked for a study on Prolific Academic which paid £28.50!!
It involved a questionnaire every night for a week and then a 2 further questionnaires a few days after and then 1 week later.
I have just cashed out with them and have £51 winging it's way to me.
Am also doing some other surveys as not done any for ages and am hoping to cash out on My Survey this week - I have enough to cash out now but want to try and get all the surveys done.0 -
Hi EE, just caught up with diary and wanted to send you some hugs and say I think you handled the situation with DS and his GF amazingly, you are an incredible lady.
Fingers crossed nothing else breaks for you its a bummer when lots of things go at once.
Also hope things go smoothly regarding the mortgage now you have someone more competent helping you.
Take care xx0 -
