  • EE - you have been an absolute wonder woman to your DS GF. I'm so pleased that she has you there because it's so sad that she can't go to her own family.
Lots of love to you. I know you're looking after her, but I hope someone is keeping an eye on you.

What an awful experience EE. So sad that she couldn't confide in her mum but lucky for her she had your support. I hope she can move on and put this behind her.

    I echo this x
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

  • Thanks for thinking of me - I am fine, honestly.

For some reason I seem to cope really well with life even when it's bad so I am 100% fine (just as well with all the !!!! DH put me through in the past).
I am meeting my bestie on Thurs and will have a chat to her - just to offload a bit.

Have spoken to mortgage broker today and he is calling tomorrow evening so hopefully the ball will start rolling slowly again.

Haven't posted my Ninja Saving Turtles challenge for a while so here is Jan's final goals - my goals in red and outcome in blue:

Set a NSD target, aim for at least 15. – will try for 15 – 15 achieved

    Donate to a charity –
I will donate to an animal charity - £5 sent to animal charity

Pay to your debt or savings first –
just about to do the money shuffle for Jan so will pay to my debt/savings – money shuffle done at start of month

Post as often as you can –
hopefully every couple of days – or once a week!!

Look at your usual food budget and aim to spend 10% less. Do a stock take of everything in your freezer/fridge/cupboards –
done the Jan monthly shop in with the Xmas shop so am pretty much stocked up. Budget is usually £350 so will go for £315 – Spent £250 in the end. The extra £100 in the food account paid for a food shop for DS at Uni.

Post 3 things that you are grateful for each time you post –
    will do - done

Post something that you would like to have achieved by the end of 2017 - think about how you will achieve this, break your goal down into small achievable steps. –
I would like to have brought the house we live in under Right To Buy and I would also like to have cleared at least £3000 of debt. I also want to socialise more, DH and I only have a few friends and we never really see them properly. I also want to make a decent income from our smallholding. – Right To Buy application has taken some more steps this month.

Organise some cheap (free if possible) things to do with family or friends. January is a long and usually boring month, it's nice to have things to look forward to
DH and I won tickets to the theatre so will check what shows are on for Jan (or Feb) and book the show, I also have a spa day which my bestie got me last birthday, I paid to extend it and we want to use it in Jan. Also need to have more family time, need to find time for board games which DD loves. – theatre tickets can only be used from Feb but did go to spa day with bestie. Did not do any board games but we have watched some TV together (might not sound a lot but we never all watch the same programme)
  • Echoing everyone's thoughts above EE. I'm glad that you are seeing your bestie - it will be good to have someone outside the family to have a heart to heart with.

Hope everything goes smoothly with the mortgage broker too.

  • Things are not going as planned with the mortgage - the broker never called and I did not get any email the next day so I contacted a broker who posts on the Mortgage board and he has made some enquiries and we won't qualify for a mortgage at the moment as DH has just started a new job and is in the probationary period.
Plus of course we are limited to lenders as we are Right To Buy and our credit history is shot to pieces - once the probationary period is over then he has a lender lined up for us.

I assume the original broker probably knew we would not qualify (even though we had mortgage in principle) and did not want to waste time on us but surely he could have just told us and we could have gone back a few months later. As it is I will be going with the lovely guy from here.

So this weekend I am going to formulate a new plan with DH as he has had a payrise (due to new job) and has more money that he can throw at his debts so we need to pay as much to our debts as possible over the next few months to stand us in good stead for getting a mortgage and then once DH has passed his Probationary period we can start the process again.

Only fly in the ointment is that my car is making a horrible noise when I reverse (like I have run over a metal dustbin) and I have a rattle when I go on bumpy roads - garage think it is a spring so I am booked in for later this week but who knows what that will cost. I do have some money in the car repair pot but will also need to use some of my wages which puts a dampner on paying extra to debts this month.

Hey EE, just read your last two months diary entries.

Hope you don't mind me saying, but you rock!
Dodgy hugs all round :grouphug: and well done on raising such a sensible sounding boy. Accidents happen.

Considering I don't know anyone involved personally, and have never been in their situation, I am so ridiculously glad DS's GF had you to turn to.

When your own parents are not up to much, sometimes it is other people's parents you need to be able to turn to. If that makes any sense to you.

Anyway, couldn't just read and run.

    hugs
