  • And it's all change again.............

Mortgage broker has been in contact to say that he has a mortgage in principle for DH and I which is enough to buy this house!!!

Expecting a call back in the next few days to go through what type of mortgage we want etc and then he will check out the deals for us.

Have also contacted conveyancing solicitors and have got details on fees - how much do people expect to pay a conveyancing solicitor nowadays?

I checked the paperwork and we actually have 12 weeks to accept the purchase price, I thought it was 6 weeks so plenty more time to get the mortgage approved before we need to send the paperwork back.

Don't want to pay any money to the c/c for now just in case I need it for any fee's - solicitor I have contacted says we don't have to pay their fees until it has all gone through just in case something goes wrong (I did read in MSE mortgage guide not to pay solicitors up front because if it falls through you lose that money) but not sure if I need to pay any mortgage fee's up front.

Will wait to see what mortgage broker says although payday for me is next Fri so will have more money then. Payday for DH should be last day of the month but who knows in his new job??

Yay to the mortgage news EE. Its nearly 10 years since we bought this house so I can't remember on fees etc. Hopefully the solicitors will be in touch soon with some quotes xx

  • I am really pleased about this - I have wanted to buy this house for years but never thought we could.

I just hope we pass all the mortgage checks as DH has only just started a new job so they might not be happy with that.

Looking at some figures the amount of mortgage we would pay is only about £50 per month more than our rent is currently so perfectly doable plus it might stop DH wanting things he can't have if he knows we can overpay the mortgage!!
  • Great news EE, fingers crossed Xx

  • No news yet on the mortgage - the problem is that in my job I am not really able to take personal calls so the times and days I have given him are quite restrictive. Am hoping he will call Monday.

DH is very poorly - he has had a sore throat and cough for a few days and has been wheezing a lot - he listened to me nagging and went to the doctors last night and he has a chest infection.
DH had pneumonia 13 years ago and one lung is damaged and unfortunately the infection is in the damaged one again - they said we have caught it in time but a few more days and it would have become pneumonia.
Antibiotics started last night but he felt terrible last night and has been sleeping most of the day so far - to be fair the doctor did say he had to rest all weekend so I am trying to get him to eat and drink enough to keep his energy levels up.

No more money paid to the c/c so far but I might do it tomorrow as payday is next Fri and I will have money then to pay for any mortgage fee's although I assume I won't need them for a few weeks anyway.
  • Hope your DH is on the mend soon EE, and fingers crossed for happy news on Monday.
