Glad you did the finances - even if they don't look good it is always better to do them, be honest about them, and face up to them - you then have a far better chance of getting through as you know what you have to realistically achieve in terms of spending/NSDs/shortfalls etc.
I hope your half term week is not too stressful - it sounds like you are in for some fun over the next few days!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Back with an update before I do something spectacular…like cleaning the house.
Perhaps rightly or wrongly I have transferred money out of one ISA to clear the overdraft completely, this is more of a test than anything to see what if anything money wise we will have left once it comes round to DH getting paid again. On paper we should have £700 spare once the expenses and Child benefit come in of which £200 of that goes on to the credit card to get rid of it. This will change dramatically once DH’s salary reduces or he gets made redundant of course.
On another note, meat for the month or two came to £59.40 but will last us. The shopping will arrive tomorrow not today as first thought….aaaarrrrggghhh!!!! Pooh!0 -
Afternoon diarists and lurkers. What yucky weather we have today…lots of rain, still it’s better than snow and the ducks like it.
Shopping has been, came to a grand total of £212.20 but at least we are now fully stocked up; we will just need bits of things over the next couple of weeks. Grand total grocery/alcohol spends: £271.60.
Have gone mad and listed a lot on e-bay and Amazon, fingers crossed that they will sell.
We are now going to the Natural History Museum tomorrow as it is free where as the Transport Museum is now charging £10 entry. Just got train ticket and parking to pay for as we are taking lunches to eat when we are there.
Done a few surveys this morning but not near a payout level yet.
Kids are driving me barmy bless them so I am taking them for a look around the charity shops this afternoon for a bit of peace and quiet.0 -
You are doing well on the shopping front.Have a great day at the museum.0

Morning everyone hope you are all okay and surviving half term?
I will have managed two NSD’s including today this week and possibly manage three by the end of the week.
Took the kids to see the dinosaurs yesterday, it was good fun but we didn’t do the dinosaur exhibition as there was an hour wait  The queues where horrendous and although we left the museum at 2pm there were still people queuing round the block on both entrances. The school where DS goes is having an inset day at the end of March so we are planning to go back then and see the dinosaurs. Total spend yesterday £20.
Have sold something else on Amazon that needs to be posted today and some of the clothes that DH wanted given to the charity shop have either got watchers or bids on e-bay
The kids and I aren’t going anywhere today apart from running a few errands so my aim today is to try and catch up with the housework, have got the weeks cleaning list from the Flylady thread.
DH’s F.A has been in touch and he has been reviewing our insurance policies and has come to the conclusion that he can save us £50 per month on the policies we have, so we are going to take him up on it. It will take us a month until it is in place due to DH work commitments and other family stuff going on but will be worth it in the end
Even though DH is likely to have a reduction in salary things don’t seem so bad at the moment money wise if things keep going the way they are and fingers crossed he doesn’t get made redundant of course we could be okay financially.
Right off to get motivated, I need to get the book packaged up and get the kids dressed. Will update later.0 -
I'm so glad things don't look as bleak as you first thought and even better if he doesn't get made redundant.Good savings on the insurance as well..these savings all mount up.0

It really does make a difference, last week felt like everything was stacking up against us and this week things don't seem too bad.0

I guess some of it wasshock last week but it's amazing what we can think of when needed.0

Morning peeps,
Have just checked the finances and we have a total of £564 left to last us until DH gets paid again. I know it sounds a lot of money and as long as nothing surprising happens to crop up it should last us theoretically.
There is still DH’s travel to come out of it and Mother’s day is approaching as well as some top up shops being needed in between.
So the stuff I have sold on e-bay and Amazon will help this month although what is currently in Paypal will cover the fees e-bay will charge this time round but I still have some waiting to be sold so will have some money in there that I can withdraw.
Will have a week to myself again next week as both kids are at school/pre-school so can make use of the NSD’s again and the car won’t be used as much and there’s always housework to be done.
DS wasn’t very well yesterday afternoon and apart from looking peaky he says he’s much better, I need to go to the Post Office again so it’s probably a good thing.
My aim today is to attack the conservatory as we have the in-laws round tomorrow for lunch and I still have some Flylady to get done.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
I have every faith in that you will manage that.
We'd all be rich if it wasn't for having to eat.0
