Just popped on to wish you all a very Happy New Year!!
I could have declared all sorts of resolutions about being more OS, more moneysaving, losing weight etc but having reached the age of 50 I know what will happen!!
Anyway I'd like to thank you all for just "being there". :A
I spend less and waste less than I did a few years ago and definitely cook a lot more from scratch.
I love being part of this wonderful family even though I don't post every day - I still pop in for a daily news catch-up!!
Hugs to everyone who needs one. Hope 2010 brings everything you wish for.

A Very Happy New Year to you all.....
I typed a long message and it went into the ether. So here we go again.
We seem to watch Alibi a lot just lately, last night it was a full length Miss Marple and then an Inspector Allen. We watched the news headlines and then retired to bed. The fireworks did not go on as long as usual and there seemed to be less of them. We woke at 9.15 so a lazy start to the day.
My grand mother always used to say not to wash on NYD; or you wash a life away. I never have washed, even when the children were small I got all the washing done before the new year. I also follow my Scottish MIL in that I clean the house on new years eve, so we have a clean start to the new year.
It’s a bright sunny but very cold morning. We have had a heavy frost, just got back in from a walk, very bracing. No wind so the chill factor was not too bad. The ice is gradually melting on the car, OH wants to put the plastic back on the windscreen as I have a trip out tomorrow. We are going to try and not use the car so much, we had it down to a fine art before OH started with this problem, but since then we have avoided buses……..we are going to give it a try. I simply cannot find room in our budget for a 15p increase in fuel. We only put £20 in the car each month and it has to last. It seems a shame to keep a car on the drive for convenience but there are places we go where we need a car. So the car will only be used A) for my monthly Tesco shop.to visit my friend, visit DD2, the allotment and for OH’s bowls. The rest of the time it will have to sit in the drive and depreciate.
End of rant…….it does make me cross that the government are trying to build up the coffers at the motorists expence again. I shop at Tesco and the local market Asda could be cheaper for some things but our nearest store is 8 miles away and the delivery charge is more than the fuel it would cost me to drive there, which in turn would pay for meat for at least 1 meal during the month.
Off for my third coffee of the morning……..may be back later…….
Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

Happy New Year to everyone !
We had a lovely time seeing in the bells with good friends and their kids. Our kids range from 1.5 to 13 years but they all get on great which makes our lives easier.
Had a brilliant time playing a game with clothes. Everyone donated old clothes and we took turns when the music stopped putting an item of clothes on - what a great laugh and didn't cost anything. I thought I looked great with a pair of y fronts over my leggings !
Today - we've got the inlaws coming round for steak pie and we start to eat all the left overs. Have a freezer full and cupboards bursting so should be little spend this month - aiming to tackle my credit card head on !
Take care- hope everyone has a good day and year.So little money - so much time :mad:0 -
,health & happiness to everyone.DH and I sniffled and coughed our way through a bottle of wine plus 2 hot (medicinal!) toddies for him as well.Well it is moneysaving as we don't really like whisky so its a good way to use it up.We went outside to watch a few fireworks, there seemed to be a lot near us,then went to bed about 1.
DS1 returned about 9 this morning,he went to Manchester for the night as his friend is a DJ at a club and they got in free, then met up with some others before sharing a taxi back and going to someones house.DS2 came in at 4.30,has been up briefly for bacon and has now retired again, prob won't see either of them till teatime.
I don't really feel like cooking a full on roast so got some steak out for later.DH is busy lighting the woodburner, its nice and sunny but cold. The ground was very hard when I took the dog out earlier.I'm going to pop to the corner shop for more tissues in a moment as we're fast running out, then snuggle in front of the fire with my new library books and Good Food mag which I found stuffed in the post box this morning.
I hope everyone has a lovely day.xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Happy New Year Everyone.
Cranky - hope this year is better for you than the one just gone, I know its not something you'll probably ever get over, but hope things become easier.
Haribo Junky - Laughing at your dtwins recorder practice!!
We went to pizza hut then to see Alvin and the Chipmunks last night. I don't normally stay up til midnight, but the kids wanted to so felt obliged. The minute we heard big bens chimes it was bedtime though, I don't do late nights! :rotfl:
My non-delivered fridge freezer yesterday was cancelled by Currys, so very annoyed. Couldn't get the same one delivered from anywhere much before 20th Jan, so went for a different (and unfortunately more expensive) model that is hopefully being delivered Tuesday.
Plans for today - no idea! Don't think I'll do any washing, am not particularly suspersticious but any excuse!! :rolleyes:0 -
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE - LETS HOPE 2010 IS A FANTASTIC YEAR
Had a lovely evening in local pub with lots of family and friends (about 30 of us in end), the band were really good and played a whole variety of music to suit all ages - then walked home with snow drifting down was lovely!!
Up at about 8.30 this morning and feel ok other than a bit tired but had to crack on as we are cooking the full works today, turkey stuffing etc. Really looking forward to it as we have not had much turkey so far this year.
Sunny thinking of you and yours
Diva - hope you have heard from Tris
