Happy New Year to everyone, and may it bring you all health and happiness.

DS is out doing paper rounds in the snow.......DD is still in bed and likely to stay there until lunchtime. Our houseguest has yet to return from whatever party she ended up at last night, and I am menu planning and working out which cupboard I will declutter next

Have a good day, everyone and stay warm!!

    Good morning everyone,

wishing you a happy and peaceful 2010. I didn't stay up until midnight as I knew I'd be awake early with the house elf. The fireworks didn't wake him, but something did as he was muttering about not being able to aleep from about 1:30am until about 2:15am. I gave him a drink, then left him to it. This morning he didn't wake me until 6:25,:T which was a bit of a treat after the 4:50 wake up call earlier in the week!

I'm having dinner at my friend's today, so I may put the breadmaker on soon and make them a fresh loaf to go with it. My aim for this year is not to buy any more food until I've used most of what is in the cupboard/freezer. I will still have to buy milk because the house elf should really have a cow of his own in the garden..... I will also be buying fruit as I'm trying to lose weight (again) and it's good for me :rotfl:

Bitsy I don't mind hearing about the sleep thing, it's good to know it's not just me. One day we'll look back on this and laugh.

NPM Can Noah come and stay - my house elf would love him. Someone who gets up as early as him, and knows about Nemo.

    Take care all of you.

Happy New Year everyone. Raised a glass to you last night:).
Enjoyed watching the fireworks, even though I was placating anxious dogs at the same time (watched fireworks from window). Was in bed by 1am and up reasonably early to walk dogs. had to wait before entering the park as a man had nipped in there for a pe3 behind a bush:rolleyes:. We wished each other a Happy New Year when we passed each other though and I think he had been partying!
Plans for todat include nice walk with dogs. Might take a flask and some sandwiches. OOoooh could take the hip flask as well for the designated non-driver :D.
Haven't heard from DD in New York. Think they will have had a brilliant time. DS in Glasgow for parties on 30th and 31st so no doubt we will see him today or tomorrow, suitably worn out:rolleyes:.
Off to find my slippers and put the kettle on for more tea.
    Have a good one everyone

Morning All - Happy New Year!

Well after a good feed and several drinks I had a 'power nap' on the sofa and DH woke me just before 12 and we watched the fireworks over London on BBC 1 - very impressive!

We went up to bed but there was a really loud party going on and DH had just said 'something is going to kick off tonight' when the woman from next door threw a vodka bottle through her next-doors front window! Theres been trouble brewing for weeks with our next-door-but-one having his car damaged twice, various bottles thrown at his window, his friend (who was babysitting for him) had his car set alight and I knew she was behind it! Anyway I'd gone down when the police were there as it was my son who had rang N-D-B-O to tell him what had happened and he asked if I would give him a hand to clean up...there was glass everywhere but it was soon tidied and patched up and he went back to work (taxi-driver) . This morning DD had come down stairs with DS-D and DS-S (:j) so i got to stay in bed til my bladder woke me at 8:30:T - and I could here holy h3ll had broken loose next door - as she has been prone to smashing up her own things lately I wasn't overly worried and I just assumed she was home from the police station and her window is now in bits.

So the peaceful start to the new year is shot then! but as I said to DH - if this is the way of the year I can handle being the one who assists in a crisis - its being the centre of the crisis I don't want!

Anyways after that bit of gossip plans for the day include using up the lovely left over gammon from yesterdays pre-new years dinner - I'm thinking taglietelle, double cream gammon and cheese concoction of some sort perhaps? put I might also make this cheese and potato thing I have a recipe for (think big sausage roll but with cheese & potato) which would be nice with some roasties and salad. Also need to check what veg is ready for the soup pan as I have some lovely ham stock.

I cleaned the bathroom floor yesterday (hands & knees job) and my back squealed and nipped at me all day - so I shall be a little kinder to it today and go a bit easier. Off to see what the flylady has instore for me today - maybe we get a day off:confused: ....I'm off to check

    Have a great day!

  • Happy New Year Everyone

Its been a while since I posted but have decided that I will make my return and get some sort of order and normality in my life.

Last night was kinda one of those moments where something clicked and I decided only I can make things better and hidding no matter behind what doesnt help.

So here is the brand new me hopefully. Not much OS today as I have a few open house parties and stuff on although a final day infront of the box all nice and warm seems so much more appealing at the moment. Kids are back from their dads Sunday so really the whole new OS thing will be organised for their return.

To all those that need hugs ((((((HUGS))))))

Hopefully this year will be better in some way for us all xxx
Although I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:

  • Happy New Year!!!

Oooh I can't wait to get back to bed. I'm a night shift tonight so thats my excuse!!
The teenagers party next door was still going loudly at 12.45 so I put my earplugs in and finally got to sleep. But dd had me up twice after that and then insisted getting up at 8am(I know thats late for some of you-it is for her) despite still being awake and very excited at 10pm-she'll be shattered this afternoon at my mums!!
DD had requested to be woken at midnight to watch the fireworks and it had snowed by then and looked beautiful out. So I woke her-she looked for 30 seconds, went for a wee and then curled up on her bed and went straight back to sleep. She doesn't remember any of this and is very sad that she missed the fireworks!!! We've watched the worldwide ones on bbc news multiscreen but she can't understand why our small town wasn't on the telly!!!!
I have nothing os planned today-just sleeping!
Hugs to all that would like one.

    :j:j:beer:HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE:beer::j:j

Hope it turns out a good one, with health wealth, and most of all love.

We had the quietest NYE for years as either been in Spain or at a caravan rally for the last 10 years at least. The choice on TV was dire IOHO, so watched some we had recorded over Xmas, drank coffee, even though red wine was open and some bubbly in the fridge. Went to bed around 12.20 and DS send a BB messenger message after 1:rolleyes:, asking what we were doing, and I replied asleep nite!

Anniestar we crossed yesterday, how are you, did I miss what had happened to you? maybe PM me when you have a mo:o, Mark did a great job of filling in for you.

Today, we have done nothing but had breakfast so far, and watched Mama Mia again while looking for some deep good non-iron fitted sheets for the new bed ordered in the Sainsburys half price sale, but not having much luck. Hope to go and see Dad and GN&N later today leaving the Pork in the SC to cook while we are out, and using up what is left of the veg.

    Take care DG
