OS Daily Thread - New Years Day 2010

Can you all stop shouting and posting in brightly coloured text please?
Honestly... It's New Year's Day. I've already had to speak to dtwin2 about recorder practice being unsuitable for NYD morning. I told her it was bad luck to make alot of noise on January 1st and the New Yea pixies would eat her Hannah Montana DVD.
Anyhoo.. We had a fun night. Lots of party games, food, drink and out to the end of the road with the neighbours to see in the bells with fireworks and fog horns.Came home where OH tried to have a [STRIKE]drunken[/STRIKE] philosophical debate about race relations
so I had to resort to the sellotape round his head again.
Have to say that I am dreading this year for lots of reasons but am trying to see it as a challenge and think how much better I will feel when it's all over.
OS wise I have picked some peanuts off the floor and removed the party popper string from the toaster.
Also, chickens are cleaned, watered and fed and dinner is nearly prepped. We're having pot roast beef with root veg and horseradish mash.
Hopefullly dinner will be pre-empted by a walk on the beach but it is ffrrrreeeeezzzing.
Welcome to all the newbies and returnees. :hello:
Aussie, it's been ages since it was New Year where you are. Are you sober yet?
Have a lovely day everyone.

I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy 2010
DS1,DIL and DGD's have managed at last to get up here for a few days, they were snowed in over christmas, so none of them had their presents, this morning was like another Christmas day when they were opening them all.
I am cooking a sort of Christmas dinner pork not turkey (I could'nt stand any more of that) with all the trimmings, and christmas pud.
Well better go get sorted, we have the girls and DS1 and DIL have been packed off to Merry Hell to the sales they will be back around 3:00 so dinner will be ready for then.
Have good days all, I hope you are all well

Morning All
I read every day but only post now and then....Happy New Year to you all.
Bit cold down here in the South West.
Cranky and Smokey thinking of you...I know the whole Christmas/New Year thing is very hard when you have lost someone
Stayed awake last night and saw in the New Year but that was only because DS needed a lift home from the pub! lol, DD watched TV but it was rubbish..
DH was at work last night policing the streets so he is still in bed asleep.
Os for today is to do washing...I hear it is unlucky but with 6 of us unlucky would be being crushed under a pile of dirty clothes.

Morning all,
Stayed up till about 1 last night, little dog was terrified with the fireworks, so was glad they did not last too long. DD is just walking down the stairs .
Today we are going to tackle the bathroom and dd's bedroom, pack anything else we can and give them both a good clean.I have no washing to do, but tend not to do any today anyway after reading on here it was bad luck
Tea tonight will be the ham I cooked wed, sliced, with some mash and peas, and pickle, dd will have veggie option.
Feels a bit strange, only one more week in this house, I bought my dd here at 2 days old (she is 15 now), and for many years it was just the two of us, and sometimes i really struggled to keep a roof over our heads, but I did it, and now have a new exciting chapter to look forward to :T
Sunnygirl, I have been thinking of you, big hugs xx
Have good days all xx
Happy new year to all xx0 -
Molly I have never heard of that saying before . whats the reasoning behind it? is it just bad luck?
Bitsy its really hard when you are sleep deprived ( DD1 didnt sleep a night through until she started school) , dont worry about moaning - you need to vent it - if its any consolation they do sleep through eventually - I have 2 teenagers - enough said0 -
