October , NovemberLVPD has just announced its Christmas-New Years drink driving campaign.
Don't even think about it, forget about the fact that they need cause to stop you, they put up roadblocks and stop everyone. I got stopped 2 years ago with a group of friends and once the cop was convinced I hadn't been drinking he gave me a ticket that allowed me as the designated driver to not pay for soft drinks etc in bars and the like.
A lot of bars will start advertising freebies for designated drivers anyway.
If you do have a drink or two then there is a drive you home service in your own car. This year it's $60 plus mileage & tip?
Get done on Christmas Eve night you won't see a judge until Boxing day. Spending Christmas day in the Clark County detention centre, is I understand a scary place over 10 floors and 2,700 beds linked by underground tunnel to the courthouse.0 -

You are right about the detention centre, there was a documentary about it on sky a week or so ago, very scary indeed!0 -

We dont drive in vegas - as we both like a drink, and id hate to have loads one night and be worried about driving the next day etc...so not worth it for us.
Interestingly though, walking past Vallet q's at night, i noticed lots of people who appeared drunk.
On our 1st trip, we met a friend of a friend who lived there and they said having a drink and driving was quite the norm over there - not sure how true that is.0 -
quick query - plan on booking flights for a few people soon - what information do i require from them to be able to book online? is it just names?... while since i've booked tickets!!!
(can't remember if i need ESTA / passport etc when I book, or if i can just getaway with putting it in before I fly!)
cheers guys0 -
Apriljust names for booking (obviously making sure names on booking are same as names on passports)...the rest you can add later.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Name as it is on passport and DOB as far as I remember. API with passport details can be added later. I should remind you that you need an ESTA.0 -
Cheers Luci / Ferf - just what I needed
now I can share with you my excitement and hopefully help people at the same time
So.... who wants sub-£500 direct Vegas flights?!?!

A load of them got released yesterday - you actually book through Iberia airways (or e-bookers as I did so I got the quidco!), but they are codeshare so it's actually just a BA / AA flight
For example, for August 2011 -- £488.53 via. Iberia.com:
Depart – Tue 23 Aug 2011
Iberia
Flights 4661
Operated by British Airways Departs: 16:25
Heathrow (LHR) Arrives: 18:45
McCarran (LAS)
Coach | Fare code: NKXUKJB | Boeing 747-400 (Wide-body Jet) | 10h 20m
Return – Wed 31 Aug 2011
This flight leaves on Wednesday and arrives on Thursday.
Iberia
Flights 4660
Operated by British Airways Departs: 20:45
McCarran (LAS) Arrives: 14:30
Heathrow (LHR)
Coach | Fare code: NKXUKJB | Boeing 747-400 (Wide-body Jet) | 9h 45m
They also have indirect flights for around the same price if that is your preference, they also have prices from other airports in the UK for the same price.
i've got MAN - SFO, then LAS - MAN for £508 on an AA code share - everywhere else was pushing £600+
1 change each way - not happy with the crap plane (757 so no TV), but not fussed about TV anyways!
... time to look into the Platinum challenge I think (or do I have to sign up for that before I book the flights... time to do some reading)0 -
MarchYou can sign up for the challenge later-a month before is ample time -don't forget you have to pay for it nowdaysI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
