Mmmmmm - US airlines call that customer service and it "just happens". UK airlines see you missing your flight as a revenue earning opportunity.

Yep I flew Virgin <spit> in the summer and was at Gatwick a day earlier with no real reason not to fly out a day early. In similar situations both DL and AA have allowed me to standby -Virgin wouldn't hear of it.

In the current economy I really would prefer to support UK airlines rather than overseas ones -but they don't make it easy

Neither would be my first choice but if I needed to fly direct then BA by a mile (actually more like a million miles ;).

Virgin's planes are older and service is poorer.

What would be your first choice?

Is there construction going on at Tropicana? Are they eventually getting round to upgrading that hotel??

I looked in the casino 3 weeks ago and it was much improved and the reviews on tripadvisor have gone up from the usual awful, now people are saying its great. It has a good location so I may give it a try next visit.

Hoping to book my Vegas flights tonight, BA and Virgin both similar prices, direct flights. Which do most people prefer? (will be travelling in economy). Thanks!

I have flown to Vegas with BA, the flight was really good, the only thing was we flew while the strikes were on and it added alot of stress the few days leading up to the holiday. We were flying Glasgow-Heathrow-Vegas, the 1st leg was cancelled and we got booked onto Glasgow-Gatwick and had an extra expense of a taxi!
For that reason only I would not fly BA again, just incase they go on strike, I like to no I am getting there ok!!

im just looking into getting my currency sorted soon. popped into thomsons on my lunch break and their rate is 1.53 - i used the travel money maximiser on here & its best foreign exchange coming out on top with a rate of 1.563 (im wanting to change £4000). anyone used them before? or any idea how they are covered if they went bust - or where would i find this info?

in light of the whole crown currency fiasco im just trying to weigh up my options - would i rather pay & get my money immediately or will there be risk involved with ordering from best foreign exchange?

    any opinions appreciated :)

Best way is use a low rate debit and or credit card when you are there

Understand where you are coming from, but it is unlikely BA will have any more strike action. The planes on the Gatwick Vegas route suck.

I stand to be corrected but the if BA still fly the 777's (200's or 200ER's) to Vegas from Heathrow then they are more likely to be older than the Virgin planes (mid to late 90's). The Virgins planes only seem older, especially if you get the crappy IFE planes!

What would be your first choice?

Delta would be my first choice , American or Continental

All have nicer planes and better service. I realize for some they really want to fly direct but I like clearing customs and immigration before getting to Vegas so I don't have to hang around but just grab my bag and head for the Strip. I also find 10 hours a bit long so like getting off part way to stretch my legs and buy food I actually WANT to eat :) If I have time I often go through security and go right outside in the fresh air for a bit too.

One thing that really bugs me with both BA and VS is the three across seats-I much prefer the two across on the side aisles that most US flights have.

We took about $400 with us (Asda i think about 1.53 a few months back ) But took our credit cards, we used mainly the halifax one (rated number 1 on here) and check our statements out there and the rate was 1.59 fort most of the holiday (think it dropped to 1.58 once) even done it with cash (apr on cash withdrawls is 16.9% i think) but we have paid the balance off when we came back so would only cost us a fraction really was $3 a time to take out $200 a time at ATMs

But i'm glad we did this as it was just safer for us and tbh easier all round. I did not want to take £4000 cash with us (what we spent) and i know if i did would have looked on here seen CCE was the best choice and probally would have used that for the change over. And if that happend there would have no where near the holiday we had (feel very sorry for anyone caught up in it)

Also had panic mode the day we left i totally forgot my pin, after a quick search found out they dont use chip and pin (thank god) but if you use CC for anything they always ask for picture ID
