I also highly recommend scoot tours, but check groupon everyday for offers as they did do an offer in April this year for half price, so may do it again. The voucher was valid for a year.

I know they wont do other promotions as most company's want 40% commission.

And Mustang was great, but be warned we were driving around in 80-85 last week and sometimes it was just too hot to be driving as the sun is beating down on you, we then stopped put roof up and drove with AC on it was heaven :D but this was in San Francisco where you were stopping every 5 mins for traffic

We did drive down to Hoover Dam with the roof down and was good, just to also warn you about time, we left for hoover dam around 9.30 and there was a little traffic and we done the full tour and got back to Vegas around 3pm. So if you want to do the GC the same day you may be a little pressed for time

The impression John gave was that Groupon had worked but now business had picked up wasn't planning on using again, would be great if they did would love to go again

thanks everyone for your replies think scoot tours is top of the list, i have driven to gc bf we left at seven to go to airport to collect car were at hoover dam by half eight then only 2.5 hrs to west rim back by 4. It will take longer this time thought if we stay for longer at hoover dam as last time was a flying visit. Luckily my dad is going in Juky so he can pick up coupons for me. Do you think scoot tours needs to be booked in advance or wait till i get out there?

I went two weeks ago and he said business was booming and was pretty much booked up, don't think you need to worry just yet but certainly before you go I would say

I haven't been to a show there, but tickets are available through ticketmaster...not sure if there will be discounts available or not.

You could check stubhub and similar, but not sure how much of a discount there will be and if it were me, I would just book direct unless you're after the best seats possible and price isn't an issue.

  • to be honest i didn't find the 100+ degree heat too bad... if you got that in the UK it'd be unbearable and so humid. but it's the desert, so it's dry heat.

don't get me wrong, it's hot! but there's loads of people on the street selling bottles of water $1, and you can always dive into the hotels/shops for a fix of a/c :)

we got back yesterday about noon- had a great trip and will post a trip reportish sort of thing at some point when things settle down.

Worst part of the trip was leaving - and not in the usual way...we left Encore with plenty of time to spare (as most of you know I am totally paranoid about unexpected travel delays that would have a knock on effect)...left the hotel at 9:30 for a flight at 12:25 which was about 15 minutes later than I wanted to leave...traffic on the strip was worse than when we normally leave as it was a Saturday I guess...so I was getting a bit cranky with that...had I known that LVB South would be blocked completely a bit further south I would have saved my panic for that. I had said before we even left the UK 'I hope Obama flies out on Friday and not Saturday' but noooo...they closed LVB South, I-15, etc. parallel with the runway and initial flight path of Air Force 1.

So we got stopped, turned around when we could, tried going Paradise south to the tunnel...figuring we would follow a bus...no go, tunnel closed...then ended up with the gas light coming on (we had prepaid a tank of fuel to avoid having to faff around with getting gas on the way to return the car)...so then since we didn't know how long we may be stuck in traffic again we had to stop to get gas...saw AF1 take off while we were at the gas station on Tropicana, so went ahead and decided to try again the usual way (had contemplated trying to drop the car at Excalibur's Dollar desk instead)...got through OK - major back-up at Dollar returns as so many had also been stuck...then about a 20-25 minute queue for the rental car shuttle to the airport...have never seen a queue there before. Then a bit chaotic at bag drop for AA - all knock on from the delay I think.

In the end we made it just fine with time to spare...but it's a perfect example for me of why my paranoia is a good thing. :)

Glad you made it Ferf-I managed to "miss" my flight out of Vegas in December due to a mix of bad planning and thousands of cowboys leaving Vegas after Rodeo.

I was a little concerned as I wasn't on a through ticket -had a Delta ticket from Vegas to JFK and a seperate AA ticket from JFK to London. Turned out to be no sweat at all Delta booked me on the next NYC flight and AA just put me on the next flight once I got to New York-no fuss no charge .
